There is a pair of Sandhill cranes that I have recorded for about 5 years now. There is an egret in the area this year as well as a pair of ospreys that have made a nest nearby (Although I only have a 55-250, so they are a bit far away for me.) and I occasionally see herons. Songbirds tend to be too fast for me.

I look forward to photographing some grey herons, jays and ravens here in the UK! 😊

That little plate thing with the ball head on it is super cool! I’ll have to pick one of those up

You can use a plastic platter with a cheap pillow or a folded towel on top. The pillow will dampen movement.

Thanks. On the 150-400 lens, for me the problem is not so much finding the subject, but finding the cash.

You should aim for those 500/600mm f/4 on FF.

I noticed that you had one of your photos shot at 80 ISO... This is incredible but what digital camera shoots at such low ISO?? Also, where does one purchase one of those ground pan - like tripods...what a awesome looking gadget!!

Bird photography is difficult.
@willparsons32
@willparsons32 2 года назад
Yes, you're absolutely right; it is difficult but what makes it rewarding is the patients you invest in photographing birds. If I may suggest; instead of waiting for a bird to appear, perhaps go somewhere where there's an abundance of birds (species doesn't matter for now) and practice your compositions. Much like a newbie fisherman learning to catch a fish; gather them into a bucket and sink your hook in the middle of the bucket. Guaranteed you'll catch something...the same goes for photographing birds - put yourself in a location - like I mentioned earlier, and practice shooting. Hope that helps & good luck 🤞

I invest in good lenses more than a camera, you can get great pictures even with 300 dollars cameras, but I spent 2000 dollars on a 600 mm lens.
