You have to make eye contact, doesn't matter if you need something from someone, demand the conversation with your eyes. If they come to you, eye contact will let them know they are NOT above you, but equal no matter what department they are in. People will back down with eye contact if they are even a bit aggressive as it shows you are not afraid and will stand your ground. No eye contact shows submission, do not be submissive to anyone...we are all HUMAN!
