I'm adopting this talk for a journal writing assignment for my sophomores the first day back at school! The structure of your talk is a perfect way to get my kiddos to think more deeply about the value/meaning of things they think they can't live without. And for those who are just ambling through their day without any intention (lol, they're 15 year olds after all), they will have an opportunity to ponder how to make their semester a little more purposeful. When we share our writing, I'm provided an opportunity to infuse the conversation with Truth, and then I have to leave it to God to grow those seeds.

This is the second time I’ve watched this video and as I did, I took notes and have started journaling along with my daily practice. Thank you so much for sharing this as it has already helped me for this year. The best thing that has stayed so far was, “Gratitude is a response to an unmerited kindness.” WOW. St. Ignatius insists that the EXAMEN begin with our expressing gratitude to God, even if it’s for a cup of coffee. And then he follows by saying that ingratitude is the greatest sin. John, you are so blessed by God. Then, you put the cherry on top by ALWAYS mentioning Dallas who has influenced me in untold ways and I place him next to Ignatius whom I love dearly. WOW again!!!❤🙏🏻🤗❤️
Love your list John, especially as I was thinking of my own list this morning, and my pen and my 19 week old puppy are both a prominent part of my determination to live intentionally with joy in 2024 and share that joy with others! Happy New Year 🎊🎆 🎉
