I'm romanian, living in Bucharest and have a few "things" to say related to your video: 1. Ceausescu was the comunist dictator of Romania, not Russia. 2. Currency in Romania is called "leu" (lion) and 1 EUR = 4.9 Lei (plural for "leu") and 1$ = 4.6 Lei. 3. Don't pay in euro or dollars in Romania. You can use any exchange office you encounter on the streets. Majority of exchange offices offer no commision exchange rates. Look for "Comision 0" text as this translates to "0 comission". Or you can use any ATM from almost any bank in town in case you don't see an exchange office. Banks overall have a slightly worse conversion rate as most romanians took different types of loans in euros or dollars and now banks profit on the exchange rate. But the difference is not big at all for a tourist as you'llhave to exchange ofer 1200$ to feel the difference between a bank and an private exchange office. 4. AC situation! Most homes and hotels have ACs installed in Bucharest. However, the issues comes from the fact that electricity got very expensive due to the situation in Ukraine, so the goverment put in place different prices limits depending on the type of consumer and amount of electricity consumed. Ordinary people pay less, but the companies pay A LOT MORE. Hotels are "companies" and pay 1.2 lei/kW, while the average consumer pays 0.3 lei/kW. 5. don't stress about chargers too much as theese are very cheap here: under $10. 6. Security: Bucharest is a VERY secure city. The entire country is very safe. Of course there are pick pockets, greedy taxi drivers (but we have Uber and others...) and petty thiefs so... keep your personal property close, don't leave your phone/wallet on the tables. If useing crowded busses, pay attention to you pockets. The underground metro is very safe as there are security guards in every train and thiefs learned their lesson. Yet, personal property close, just to be safe. This is a problem also for romanians, but especially for tourists. It's not that bad at all, but it's general advice. The underground metro costs 1euro for 2 trips and 5euros for 10 trips... with no time limit between the trips. PS: Feel free to ask me anything about Romania!
