5 Typal Decks You Didn't Know Were Awesome 

Day 3 million of youtube comments being weird asf... They didnt ask you to change to typal they just said thats what they are saying and what it means cause wizards says thats the official phrase.

Can we NOT encourage useless vocabulary changes that only serve the purpose of people who make more than 90% of Americans will see in their lifetime to "not feel as bad" and continue using the correct nomenclature for a term that literally no one that the assumed pained party of even knows, nor cares about? Seriously, its friggen pointless.

Fun fact about saproling tribal. There are no (non-changeling) saproling cards. Just tokens

Typal makes it sound like a card type. Like hey I'm playing my enchantment typal deck. It is just clunky. I really hope wizards reverses course on that term and goes back to tribal.

My problem with syr gwyn and commanders like her are the need to balance out creatures with the number of equiptment you need.

If we're talking specific types of creatures, I'm a big fan of Goblins myself. With the right setup, that Krenko guy can create as many as infinity 1/1 goblins and I think that's just swell.

There's a lot of tribes that could be good but don't have the support they need, it's not just about making an overpowered commander but a good 15 or so cards to benefit the strategy. I'm building mono white Bushido and the mechanic would be great if 90% of the creatures weren't pure cheeks

Loved this! How many spells do you think you need in a deck (including changelings) for it to be considered typal? I just recently updated my animar, soul of the elements deck to a Pseudo elemental typal deck and excited to see the nerds giving the type a shout out!

Random tech card I put in my Inalla deck is Obeka, brute chronologist. When the effect to exile the tokens goes on the stack, tap Obeka and now you get to keep the token

I love knights, came back to paper magic for them! Sidar is really strong if you're able to keep combo players at bay. I've now just finished a 1.0version of a budget Syr Gwyn deck, can't wait to play it

I've had a General Tazri ally deck since she was printed and it's one of my strongest decks

Would like to see them print more frog support. We have a solid handful of interesting frog legends, but not many support cards

So what is the communitys take on sidar jibari? I have been thinking about building him but i dislike overly powerful commanders and while he seems fair on paper, eminence still is a thing.

I'm still calling it tribal. Just like I still call it EDH. Sorry. To be fair, Grixis Wizards was quite a popular deck when the Commander 2017 decks first came out. It has just fallen out of favor more than Dragons and Vampires (or Cats, to a lesser extent) because classes are less noticeable than races when a new set comes out. As for eminence tribal commanders, I play Ur-Dragon (I don't stack my deck with a lot of cost reductions, so this is one of the few). I used to use Arahbo, but I switched to Nazahn with my focus on equipment. I never tried wizards (not a big blue player, except in 5 color decks), and I forgot about the knights when it first came out (I had been working on multiple other decks at the time). Never built Vampires, because after seeing other people's decks, I decided it was too broken to be fun. My saproling deck is four color with Tana and Ravos commanders. I had considered five colors with Morophon Fungi, but decided there wasn't enough blue (only 3 cards) for me to justify diluting the manabase more. I've been playing saprolings since Fallen Empires, so I always try to find out what new goodies come out with each new set. Every time I go to build Allies, I always find something else that I'd rather build. The problem with Elementals, and the reason they fly under the radar, is that no one can figure out which commander to build around. Everyone eventually moves on to easier builds. 🤣🤣🤣 Here are my current tribal decks: Raphael Devils (BR) Doran Walls (BGW) Rebbec & Toggo Assembly-Workers/Modular (RW) Ohabi Caleria Archers (GW) Lord Windgrace Lhurgoyfs (BRG) Sachi Shamans (G) Chatterfang Squirrels (BG) Tana & Ravos Saprolings (BRGW) Atla Palani Eggs (RGW) Ur-Dragon Legends (WUBRG) Nazahn Cats (GW) Prossh Kobolds (BRG)

I've helped build most of these decks with people in my playgroup. I built wizard tribal for myself and just went mono blue Azami, cause it's fun to mill myself out on turn 3 or 4. But, not to be a Nitpicking Nerd, but typal sounds more like deck types. Voltron, Super Friends or Land Destruction. These are just tribal decks like Slivers and Elves.

Still hard saying "typal" after learning tribal. "Dragon typal matters" is so wierd

i have Najeela as a 5 color knight commander and i got bloodforged battle-axe in the deck which creates a token copy of its self when it damages a player and with a few extra combat turns that can amount to all my knights being armed and with puresteel paladin to make equipment cosr 0 to equip and tempered veteran to give +1 countersand bloodcrusher of khorne to give trample and haakon,stromgald scourge to replay knights from the grave yardas well as a few creatures that buff knights with more counters and indestructible and fewto add some 2/2 knight tokens . once the engine roars it becomes a army fast that is very well armed.

Kaza is my fav spell slinger big spell Izzey commander 🙌 so much fun and efficient too

Plus the new Moonshaker Cavalry (tho it doesn't care about knights) is also a knight :)

A thing worth noting, I'm pretty sure Naban and other etb doublers won't double Inalla's eminence ability while Inalla is in the command zone, since she's not a permanent that you control at that point.

Naban is also good as a more budget version of the wizard deck. I built mine as essentially Man-o-war tribal with some of the aforementioned payoff Wizards. It would win with Displace and another wizard to overwhelm with etb effects.

I have a Fungus Typal deck (it's Saprolings) with a couple different commanders in it based on the power level I want. I have Thelon of Havenwood for my most low powered version, the new Nemata, then Mazierek as my normal commander (making use of all of the sacrificing to either overwhelm the board or make Greater Good awesome), and Slimefoot as the scarier version. It's always funny though when some of my newer-to-Magic friends ask what the scariest card in the deck is and I tell them it's an uncommon 1-mana 0/2. For the sake of transparency, when asked, I try to tell my friends Utopia Mycon is probably the biggest target on my board. Only for them to take my Commander out and lose to the Mycon the next turn lol

I play Wizards, but I use Adeliz, which wasn't mentioned. I also play Saprolings, but I use Nemata, primeval warden which also wasn't mentioned (And Tana, the bloodsower but I get why that one wasn't mentioned)

Syr Gwyn is an AMAZING cross between Knight tribal/typal and voltron.

If you play Malestorm Wanderer from your graveyard with Horde of Notions ability you get to cascade cascade for 5 mana instead of 8

Wow, we talked about Saprolings and *didn't* talk about Ghave? Typical Karador player behavior... For real though, one of my absolute favorite creature types and I'm super glad to see it get recognized at all ^_^

The issue i have with creature type based decks is that the decks basically build themselves. If you are playing a deck like that you have so many must include creatures. Its not really a challenge to build one of these decks.

I think they need to go back to the drawing board with typal, I'm more inclined to refer to something as an "[X type] deck" or [X] type deck, but I hope they find something that rolls off the tongue easier

Elementals are definitely underrated. Ashling is a good board wipe. The cavalier of ___ cycle are also interesting little powerhouses for both knights and elementals.

As an actual, and proud member of the Mi'kmaq tribe from Nova Scotia, I am 100% OK with people using the term "tribal"... I don't find it offensive... no rational person finds it offensive. I am a little bit concerned about Orwellian self-censoring.

Beezy. Didn’t you say in an older video you found it difficult to build a wizard deck finding due to the weird consistency amongst the amounts of wizards/ amount of instants and sorceries?

Allies is something i'm currently working on. Sadly deck building burnout hit real hard and i just couldn't focus on it long enough yet. Thank you for the recommendations tho(most i probably already have in it lol)

All my decks eventually end up being these kinda decks lol. Like mondrak reanimator ended up as a phyrexian tribal deck. Thassa etb ended up as wizards.

There are some pretty good nobles but not much noble support. Noble tribal will be cool at some point but rn it’s just a bunch of cool lord of the ring and older cards.

I hate Azami wizard decks, but the Kaza deck seems cool.

Aftermath Nissa didn't slip under the radar lol... It was 40-55$ immediately after release. It's only JUST recently dropped down to around 20-25$. Which is still expensive, but at least moderately reasonable. 40$+ for a glorified lotus cobra isn't remotely worth it. Now that it's around 20 bucks, it is finally somewhat worth picking up.

Umm excuse me, you seem to have forgotten that Syr Ginger is a Knight commander? Syr Gwyn is one of my favorite decks, but I think focusing on Knight tribal more than loading your deck with equipment works a lot better, I only run 10 equipment (one being a useless Worldslayer because I like to live dangerously) but you can cheat that number with Bloodforged Battleaxe... also Kinsbaile Cavalier is very OP :^)

I've never heard the term typal before. I had heard that Wotc were planning to remove the tribal keyword, which seemed like an overreaction to something that I don't think had any malicious intent for players. But I'll be happy as long as they keep the mechanic in the game. As long as they don't get ridiculous and ban people in tournament's for saying the wrong word I don't see an issue. Also I love my Syr Gwyn deck!!

My longest surviving deck is Samut, Voice of Dissent Naya warrior tribal and that deck is super aggressive because warriors almost all care about combat in some way

I'll never not think that Eminence and Commander Ninjitsu are massive design mistakes.

i built an elemental deck with Shattergang Brothers as my commander. The whole deck is designed to sacrifice all my elementals, causing other players to sac their creatures while taking a ton of damage from Omnath, Locus of Rage and Titania, Protector of Argoth. Scapeshift mixed with these two is absolutely bonkers

Oh yes, Slimefoot and Squee is my flagship right now. So annoying for my opponents with strong ETB/LTB. Reanimate/Saproling/Aristocrats theme. Love it!

Soliders with Harbin seem underrated as well. Once harbin is online its minimum 12 power in the air. That's a clock. And there are good soldiers

I have an Esper Knight Typal deck that I used for fun. Its really nice to have an Esper knight Commander. Now I’m building an Faerie deck and a mono white cat deck *Kemba, Kha regent*. Always love using Typal decks. I can’t seem to have fun with I’m using combo decks or creatures that isn’t the same type. :)

I play Slimefoot the stowaway. Well...I have always had a thallid deck of some sort since...oh....ice ages release. To anyone thinking of building it, earthcraft is your best card. For much less expensive cards that will deliver the best bang for your buck....Seedborn Muse and Perilous Forays are *absolute* must haves. Note how Perilous forays gets a land with a basic land TYPE...so you can get duals [which conversely make cabal coffers very good in the deck]. Also Slimefoot is a house with cards that give him infect.
