Who do you think is the most underrated character in Ultimate?

Nobody will ever know how good Lucas is, largely because he's not worth the investment to be a counterpick character, does surprisingly well against a lot of meta-relevant top tiers

Bayo literally has good top player results in EU, NA and Japan. Obvious top tier; she just suffers from her neutral being kinda mid (at approaching its busted when being evasive) and Solid Snake

personally I think Kirby is also underrated and is actually a low mid tier at least he has huge combos, kills insanely early, the dair uptilt into down smash. He just struggles with getting in but when he does he consistently deals like 40+%

Actually? Facts. This roster is huge so I doubt we will ever see all of the characters being developed to their peaks, but still, you spitting daBARS today.

Duck Hunt is one of my mains. Finally committed to learning him after Hurt went on a tear at Battle of BC (...close enough in character playstyle right?). He's a ton of fun to use. And I'll also say that Duck Hunt Duo is such a bad EU localization name. It's a trio; the dog, the duck, and the zapper user infront of the screen. And honestly, I dislike how tier lists are structured. Little Mac should never be classified as "bad", that's not descriptive to describe his faults. Characters like him, DK, and Ice Climbers are insanely volatile. Either they blow you up, or they don't have the tools do their thing and get blown up. With a cast of so many distinct characters, I think these types of characters are perfectly fine and keep things interesting.

Honestly though I played mii swordfighter a bit when the game came out and it felt like the whole gameplan was just fish for cheese. As soon as I switched to shuriken the entire kit felt so much more cohesive and they quickly became one of my best characters.

I think we should be thanking Dabuz for making this list of characters. I feel like this really clears up things in the sense that tier lists sometimes just don't dictate results with certain characters. We've even seen it time and time again with these top players and upsets and things like that. However I feel like we still all think the same, in the sense that we should be able to easily beat this or that random player for using a low tier online for example.

You’re right about Mii Swordfighter, just adding a few extra things to note • The versatility to change sets, whether you want tornado and chakram, or shuriken and galestab, is huge, and allows him to counter more characters because he can literally change his gameplay. • Tornado is still a good move, it just heavily depends on the matchup, you don’t want it vs most characters, but it has weird niches (12%, large hitbox, long lasting, transcendent) that help in specific matchups like Steve, Rosa, Olimar, etc. • Mii Swordfighter is a cheeser. This character is weirdly good at edgeguarding, whether it be using dair, which lasts forever, and with vertical upb, can drag them to the blastzone, or SSD Scoop, an untechable semi-spike that rides them to the bottom of the stage.

The main issue with Ice Climbers is consistency. Without Nana, you lose a lot of damage and kill power, and your recovery is severely neutered.

I feel like DK is a lot better than people give him credit for. ASK out of shield has been MASSIVE for his meta, and he had a lot of underrated tools in neutral like grounded down b.

I agree with these picks But besides that, I also don't get why Pikachu and Shulk are not widely considered Top 10 in the game (Top 5 in case of Pikachu). They are also not even that hard. They're hard, but not crazy hard. If Big D and Muteace have climbed up the ranking after years of practice with their character, Imagine what Pikachu and Shulk could do in the hands of certain people. I think Sora is Top 10 too. He has everything. OOS, zoning, range, edgeguarding, and absolutely broken combos and kill confirms. Ness is potentially Super Top Tier as well, when people master the infinite. Same as with Joker gun loops. I also think Mewtwo and Lucario are better than most people think. Isabelle still also has a lot of potential.

Little Mac is still a bad character and no one argues that Bayonneta is bad. She is at least a top tier if not one of the best characters in the game

I think Ryu is slightly underrated/ slept on. His frame data is actually cracked, and even though his game plan is kinda counter intuitive, it’s extremely effective.

Hello DaBuzz---I'm your neighborhood Mii Swordfighter Savant & guide writer. Here to help with my years of testing and play. tl;dr X213 is your best moveset and you should always stay away from chakram b/c Gale Stab is actually the characters best move. You are correct both Shuriken and PowerThrust together net you good damage and a stock confirming strategy-- In general MSF struggles to KO because they are slow and have short range on their smash & basic attacks. The only move the character has that takes stock well is tippered forward smash. The most effective strategy is to pick moves that increase your mobility/speed, reach and options for KO's. The old meta of Skyward Slashdash + Chakram + Tornado + Reflect has been a thorn in the side of progression for this character as the mentioned moveset has little KO power and mobility options. I consider that moveset and anything Chakram related to be 'dark ages' and sadly deserving of the common MSF hate. Hero's Spin has terrible recovery and Skyward Slashdash removes a KO option outside of cheese. Stone Scabbard makes you invulnerable from frames 5-12 ending in a pop-up that trades better with many bad situations. It is a KO option and even a great spike. And as a recovery Stone Scabbard is one of the best in the game saving you from a lot of off-stage cheese. It's long range also means you have a long range destructive tool. Airassault may seem like it goes really far and has tremendous KO power but in competitive play its easily read and countered making it unuseable. What chakram gives you may seem amazing: an advantage state tool, and long range tool, and angles all in one! But Chakram is the single most deadly siren song for this character because here is what you lose. It forces you into Skyward Slashdash removing your KO option and removes Gale Stab which is actually the best move on the character. So chakram effectively slides you back into the dark ages. Gale Stab is a 9 frame attack useable in air that dashes you forward. When charging on the ground it gains more KO power, when using it in the air it auto-cancels. This KO's, starts combo's, recovers, provides a much needed speedburst mobility tool and gives one hell of a cross-up game. Ty for Dabuzz for mentionting MSF and GL out there MSF players.

I'm surprised after recent results DK wasn't in this list at all, ignoring Rakkikusu, Chunkykong is just a consistent high level threat in a way that feels even more locked in than Konga in Smash 4

Duck Hunt is so weird in the current meta. Honestly, they do really well against anything that doesn't have a sword in neutral.

I'm surprised people never considered mii sword fighter's flame neutral b It will kill pretty early with a decent bit of charge, but has multiple hits so it covers multiple options and easily catches rolls and neutral getups, and it can be b reversed for good mobility and then reversed again on release, and it floats you in the air so you can use it off stage I always thought it was completely under utilized Like, the knockback ramp up with charge is SHOCKING

Even with the basis of the smash subreddit, I don't think any of these characters are underrated. Ultimate has a high power level in general so you have tons of characters in the lower half with really good tools but generally lack some*thing* that makes them CONSISTENTLY absurd like characters in high and top tier. So as mid-low tiers they're waiting for some*one* with that consistency instead.

I think Mii Swordfighter's combo potential is under-explored. Having a multihit dair that hits low enough to combine with footstools is lowkey busted.

Isabelle Pit Doc Icy K Rool

From what I can tell, optimized Ice Climbers only need one good hit to kill. That idea compared to their representation makes them the most underrated character in the game for sure.
