Dennis Rodman was famous for getting his opponents frustrated and off their game. This video documents 5 players that fell victim to his antics. No players involved were hurt at all just physical basketball
Rodman was hilarious those were the good old days..him and Alonzo was epic match ups I remember a reporter asked him a question about rodman and he said don't ask me nothing about that fool.
I loved him playing Alonzo. Dennis didn't really have to use his full repertoire of annoyances though with Mourning. A pat on the arse would be enough to piss the guy off for a good 5 minutes.
There were a couple of Bulls games, where I saw MJ smirk a little, after Rodman's antics. I think MJ liked Rodman and knew he was just as competitive as him. Not nearly as good, but competitive. MJ had to be happy to have had him as a team mate, imo
They both were nearly as good as each other. Both played their roles amazingly on their teams and provided intense basketball that made their opponents uncomfortable. MJ always liked Rodman in my opinion and that helped them win championships when Rodman came to Chicago.
I was wondering during these clips when Michael was holding Rodman back, was MJ actually upset with him? Or was it like a good cop / bad cop routine? I think the latter
Good Lord, the NBA 80s-90s was so physical during that era; it was a war 😳 Dennis Rodman Charles Barkley Karl Malone Xaiver McDaniel Patrick Ewing Charles Oakley Bill Laimbeer Rick Mahorn Antoine Carr Larry Bird Kevin McHale Robert Parrish Bill Cartwright Hakeem Olajuwon Anthony Mason
Dennis Rodman... Greatest rebounder in NBA history. One of the top 10 greatest defenders in NBA history! Absolutely, without a doubt DESERVING of that Hall of Fame status!!!
@@timhoward5 yes, pound per pound, but also in general, name 1 player who was better at rebounding than rodman... before you say bill or wilt, keep in mind their era was pace inflated, giving them 130 possessions per game to collect rebounds while dennis played in a more normally paced league, and even played in the slowest paced league ever for a good chunk of his career where the pace dropped as low as 90 possessions a game, this is also why wilt has no seasons where hes even in the top 150 for rebound rate
I don't care if he's not good at scorer, he's a legend when it comes to mind games and loses your cool and focus on the game that is what he is made of, it's not always being a mj or kobe like in every basketball game. He is fun to watch makes the game more intense and frustrating I love what he does and it's part of his plans to win. If rodman still in the nba today he could easily thrown out any thugs and star player out of the game with his mind games.
Nobody could intimidated\ Dennis because he was truly willing to die on the basketball court while also knowing fully that no brother had the balls to do it.
I think Rodman was a little underrated on the Bulls. Everyone brings up Pippen complimenting Jordan, but you have to remember Rodman had a similar winning mindset as Jordan...just different methods/approach. He focused on his strengths and where he can contribute the most on the team. Jordan never had a reason to really talk to him or anything.
@@LC-ht7sg pretty sure jordan suggested the coach to grab him he might of not liked him outside the game but he did aknowledge what he brought to the team they were known as the big 3 definetly aknowledged
I admire his knowledge of the game. Whenever I create a player in nba, and have limited distribution skill points, I make sure that the power forward is good in both defensive and offensive awareness and is strong and good in rebounding. Just like Dennis Rodman.
Lol oh yea two grown ass men acting like they're going to do something... Rodman just likes to get in his opponents heads ... He has no intent to actually get in a physical altercation... He's not that player... Draymond is a clone of Rodman... The same Antics to get under their opponents skin
Dennis Rodman one of the wittiest and smartest player ever and that clap he does at his opponent almost congratulatory as if his opponent is the one putting on the show, really spectacular way to divert the refs attention.
I always enjoyed watching Dennis Rodman play. Super athlete, bright and gave it his all, for the joy of the game and winning for his coach and teammates. Doing whatever's necessary!
Whatever he can get away with, I've got less respect for mike now. Those rings with Rodman are tainted, what he was allowed to do without fouling out was a real crime to the league, that crap wasnt even basketball related, he was actually humping on dudes! I wud hv chopped him in his neck one time so quick & precise hed lost his breath went to his knees & look up & the refs wud be like what happened & I'd wait for him to look at me & stare him right in the eyes with no emotion. I bet hed never do the crap he was doing again & play me like the gm shld be played.
I've seen him do some funny shit when I was at some games , the ref rolled him the ball for his free throw and Dennis watched the ball go by him and keep rolling out to center court. Another time he missed his first free throw and went under the basket and licked his finger and held up in the air like he was checking the wind lol.
How a squad of Mark Jackson, Charles Oakley, Xavier McDaniel, John Starks, Anthony Mason, Gerald Wilkins and Kiki Vandeweghe didn't make the Finals over the Bulls at least a couple times is remarkable. That much depth and toughness and only went in 94 and then an almost completely different team in 99 too with no rings, it's a miracle they didn't do better...and not to mention NYC as your homecourt with that many fans.
Same thing I say about the Portland Trail Blazers teams from the late 90s and early 00s Steve Smith Rasheed Wallace Scottie Pippen Jermaine Oneal Derek Anderson Stacy Augmon Greg Anthony Damon Stoudemire Arveydas Sabonis Bonzi Wells Brian Grant Detlef Shrempf Steve Kerr
There is a difference between playing physical and dirty. Rodman was dirty coming in with elbows and forearm shots after the play. You are just too stupid to know the difference and want to sound like a tough guy.
@@oscarwilde6649 you have a shirt term veiw. Do u wanna see a star player out for months or never return just so Rodman can get an edge on one play in a way that most players even back then wouldnt do cuz they know its fucked up I dont want to watch pussified sports but I dont wanna see star players sitting on the bench with avoidable injuries
The trio of Oakley, McDaniel, and Mason on the Knicks was a scary proposition every time an opposing guard went into the lane. To think MJ owned the Knicks during this time anyway. How would LeFlop James do against these guys???
Oakley,Mcdaniel and Mason? The detroit pistons were worst , the bad boys?Bill Laimbeer, Isiah Thomas, Rick Mahorn, Dennis Rodman, John Salley, and Joe Dumars
@@arnaldotanta3630 As a proud and frustrated Knicks fan, I definitely can't disagree with you. The Detroit Pistons were truly the Bad Boys! After rewatching the 1987 & 1988 Eastern Conference Finals over and over, I had then, and I even have more respect for what that special Detroit Pistons team did. They took down the mighty Boston Celtics & the LA Lakers to win their titles - the two dominating teams of the 1980's. The Pistons crashed the party. And then held back a young and tough Michael Jordan led Chicago Bulls team until the Bulls finally overtook them. The Pistons deserve a lot more respect despite the hate for that team outside of the state of Michigan.
Those early 90's Knicks teams could match the Bad Boy Pistons when it came to toughness. What set the bad boys apart was that they had a ton of offensive weapons so they could increase their defensive intensity and not miss a bit on the offensive end. The knicks really just had Ewing who could get 30 on any given night.
Ewing drove to the basket and dunked on Rodman, then fell to the court. Oakley came to pick him up and give him respect but Pat refused and layed on the court. Small things...
@@joelx3612 the players today have higher basketball iq, more athletic, taller… they’d dominate all of these old ass mfs excluding a couple teams like the bulls for example
I grew up in Michigan and I'm a Detroit Pistons fan of course. It was so special to watch The Worm hone his craft and then go on to be one of the greats. He will always be a Detroit Piston to me. He was the right man for the right time on the right team and I always wonder what Chuck Daly saw in him to give him a chance
According to a story, the real credit should go to Mark Aguirre. He was the player that suggested to the team that Dennis Rodman be placed in the starting lineup instead of him.
That was excellent. Thank you. That last play where Michael Jordan blocks the ball, it was as if he hung in the air until the ball arrived. Fascinating.
This is why I rather watch basketball games from the 80s n 90s than the games now. I'll sit down with beers n snacks n watch some old games, especially the playoff. When all the players are having a little fever n blood pressures rising.
The worm was the best rebounder ever! He was eccentric, hilarious and had the greatest love for the game. He was a showman and made the game so entertaining. His hall of fame speech was so raw and touching. He told it like it was and that’s what I love about him.⛹🏾♂️🏀🏀💕
I liked seeing Christian Laettner lose it after what he did in the NCAA tournament that one year, stepping on another player's chest while he was down lmao!
DR could run all day! not just for 40 minutes, all day! his fitness was of the chain, he was a master at macho head games and usually won, best rebounder of all time, and was strong! he could man handle much larger men, and shut them down! big respect!
He didnt get enough credit for how good his muai thai striking was, landing spike elbows directly to opponent's eyeballs while not looking, sweeping people coming back down from jumps from their blind side, completing judo throws by rolling people over his shoulder
Bill Laimbeer was to the Pistons as Bob Probert was to the Red Wings. Straight enforcer. I remember when Bill Laimbeer played with double zeros on his jersey
Ever since playback showing Rodman I've changed my whole thinking about him. I thought he was a bad boy, and he was but in a good way. He played tough but never tried to hurt other players like someone else we all know. The. More I see of him I believe he was the Best defensive player I've ever seen in the game of basketball. In his own way he was able to get into other players heads just as much as Byrd did.
Dennis Rodman is entertaining & awesome IF he's on the team you follow. As a Bull's fan; Dennis when a Piston annoyed me to no end ~ when he became a Bull I couldn't get enough of his antics . Lol.
