It’s really nice to see younger generations interested in the old school methods we used decades ago and still do today. I’ve taught them to my adult daughters too. Nothing more satisfying than doing things yourself!
I have been making my own cleaning products for 7 years! I also have been moving towards more traditional living since the pandemic as well. I started making my own bread and started a garden. I think it’s so important to be able to take care of our families in times of crisis. ♥️
I love vintage homemaking skills! I’m learning about gardening and canning at the moment, and I’ve been making cleaning and beauty products for about 5 years now! ☺️
I love canning! It’s so fun and always rewarding to open up a can of goods in the winter knowing you made it without any chemicals!! Definitely hard work but it’s beautiful!
I want to go as natural as God will take me. I'm learning more than doing but I'm healing and getting closer to all I love as well. So much to do, so little time but I must let tomorrow worry about itself as I will not gain anything but rather lose something. Just gotta live in the moment.
Extremely interested in learning these skills with you as you learn them yourself. I'm especially interested in learning on how to create my own cleaning products and natural products in general. Great video!!
Now July and scarier than ever. If you haven't found Mary's Next on You Tube, highly recommend it. She will talk you through so many skills. Please don't be discouraged and quit learning when things get more normal.
Yay love this! I found out about all this homemaking stuff at the beginning of the year and I dove right in! I started my first garden this year I made my first homemade cleaner TODAY my husband and I are planning on canning this summer! So excited! Great vid thank you! 💕
When I started gardening I started with Raised beds and for 3 years, my gardens failed. I ripped them out this year and grew in the ground and almost everything was successful except the corn and green beans for some reason. I will never go back to raised beds.
yes, videos about all of these things all year long! :-) my favorite cleaning product for the last 2 years is Norwex's Envirocloth because you use it with just water and it removes grime off my walls like the Mr. Clean magic Eraser.
I am sooo interested in learning all of these! You are so right that this whole thing has made it so obvious how convenience took over. I don't even want to go back to that! 🤣 I'm going to refer back to this video to keep these things in mind in the coming months 💗 and please do keep us in the loop as you learn!
Heart & Home so happy to hear that you’re into it too! I will be sure to do that. 👍 I also did a post on my blog hollyhomebody.com if it’s easier to refer to that 💕 thanks for watching!
These are some of the skills on my 'to learn' list this year. It would be awesome if you had some videos on these valuable skills. I'm so happy to see it's not just me who has come to this realization! It's homesteading-lite. 😁
Hi Holly, I have definitely been wanting to learn more of the homemaking skills that you mentioned here. I did a small container garden this year and planted some flowers from seeds because I wasn’t sure if there would be greenhouses open so I ordered some seeds. It was so fun to start plants indoors (here in Michigan we can’t plant until end of May). I grew up with huge gardens as kids and was like you, not very interested but would definitely like to do this more now too. I was also noticing recently after taking foods out of their packaging before storing and realized how much plastic comes with bread products so I really want to learn to make more bread items like bagels, tortillas etc. I would love to see more about canning-I’m always afraid of doing it wrong and poisoning my family! :0 Can’t wait to hear some tips.
Hey Holly! I love all of these ideas. I think the kids and I will be planting a garden soon. Do you think it’s best to start with vegetables or herbs? We can’t decide! 🤔 Thanks for the inspiration! 💗
Bush green beans have been my go-to, fool-proof veggie that I've grown every year since my first garden in 2007 in my apartment balcony in a pot. The more you pick the beans off the plant, the more the plant will produce! Plant a patch and you can have fresh green beans once a week or more for dinner! Herbs are easy too - especially if you do one herb per pot!
Not sure what she uses but I use a mix of vinegar, boiled citrus peels, sometimes add baking soda and other boiled herbs. It makes the granite countertop super glossy!
