@ 5.02min: for summer tires also 1,6mm is the limit in Germany. 3mm for summer and 4mm for winter tires are recommendations.

I have a modified Jeep Wrangler here in the KMC & he hit most of the basics but he forgot to mention that Steel bumpers are legal in Germany. It just can’t have a protruding stinger/ Grill guard that sticks out in front of the bumper itself. Also Winches provide a loophole for the legality of certain steel bumpers

I have a '97 TJ that I really don't want to part with. Do you have any other tips/advice/requirements that I should know before deciding to ship it over?

Hello Daniel TV, Edward Armstrongs bumper looks like a modified part on top of the bumper to cover the tire? Can you please confirm if the whole tire must be covered from the top and the 50% from bumper?

Do red rear turn signals (that are usually also stop signal lights) on American-spec cars need to be replaced with orange lights for the inspection?

Great video, DT! I'll be there mid year next year but I have LED headlights. Where do I get the certification that Ed was speaking about that will allow me to continue to use the LED headlights?
@DTVDanielTelevision
@DTVDanielTelevision 10 месяцев назад
Hey boss, thanks for watching! Usually that certificate comes with the LED headlights or bulbs. In German it’s called an Allgemeine Betriebserlaubniss (ABE). What type of car/truck do you have? And are they aftermarket LED headlights or straight from the manufacturer?
@lemonade4203
@lemonade4203 9 месяцев назад
@DTVDanielTelevision I have a 2017 ford escape. They're aftermarket LEDs from Walmart. I'll just buy some regular bulbs and travel with them to be on the safe side when I pick up from the vpc!
@JKU_Aaron_4X4
@JKU_Aaron_4X4 8 месяцев назад
@@lemonade4203 retrofitting reflect your halogen headlights with LED bulbs is illegal unless it has TÜV certification. If you really want to keep your Ford escape on LED headlights, invest in some new LED headlight housing where the LED is built into the actual unit. The lens must say DOT SAE E9 for it to be legal.

Hi. We are getting ready for my husband's PCS to Germany. We were planning to ship our 2018 Highlander (78K miles, still paying for it). Our bank had already agreed that we ship it. Unfortunately, the front windshield just got a small chip yesterday. It also has a small spot with paint touch-up. Is it worth getting the windshield replaced so we can still ship our car? Will the paint touch-up fail us for inspection here in the USA & Germany? Or should we just leave of our car and buy one when we get to Germany? Any advise is greatly appreciated.

Hey 👋🏾 Couple things to think about. First, a small chip in the windshield will not prevent you from shipping over (major cracks will). But if it’s relatively inexpensive to fix, then yes, fix it. Touch up paint won’t fail you for inspection. Do you have kids? If you rely on the SUV to haul your family around and you will finish paying it off while in Germany, I recommend keeping it. Keep in mind, you’ll need to save for rental car fees when you arrive because you won’t have your car for up to 6 weeks. Take a look at my full guide on shipping a POV to learn more about your options. It also goes over the rules of shipping a POV in the Defense Transportation Regulation Guide: www.dtvdanieltelevision.com/2019/11/04/pcs-to-germany-welcome-to-grafenwoehr-checklist-shipping-a-car-overseas/

I have a modified sonata N, with after market exhaust, tinted windows aftermarket diffuser lip Spoiler rear spoiler and I'm just thinking on just selling it. My wife is active duty so she will be bringing her ford bronco. But what would you gush prefer? Do I just sell it in the states or bring it?

I addition to headaches, big heavily modified cars are often not very practical in Germany and many European countries, because of: - narrow roads (just imagine an German Altstadt / old city center or old Italian cities) - parking space - fuel prizes Just try something new and different here in Germany and I am sure you will like it. (Not sponsored by UCG😂)

Facts! 🛻 These are the reasons we encourage Americans to get rid of their "monster truck" and buy something more convenient to European roads 👍🏾

I have a modified & lifted 4door Jeep Wrangler and passed inspection. Jeep wranglers are officially sold in Germany, and are narrow enough to fit in most parking spaces in Europe.

@@JKU_Aaron_4X4 Germany even has trucks and busses and vans and other big vehicles, and sure, pickup trucks are sold here as well. It is just not fun to drive or park them in many towns and city centers. Maybe you will enjoy the experience, maybe not, but I do wish you the best. Just don´t two or more parking lots just because you are unable to exit you car 😉
@JKU_Aaron_4X4

@@ileana8360 that’ll never happen with a Jeep, they are narrower than most European SUVs but sure i guess
@ileana8360

@@JKU_Aaron_4X4 Well, todays SUV are often occupying more than 1 spot as fas as I can see. I have a Skoda Octavia, have driven big audis, Mercedes and BMWs and have to say, that the cars get wider, the standart parking spot does not. The only cars I could comfortably exit when parked in a Parkhaus or supermarket parking lot was my little Opel Corsa and for a brief period the 911. 😉
