Sometimes I feel that people forget what the Remarkable 2 really is: it emulates a notepad. It gives you just enough tools to do basic edit you wish you could do with paper. It's not supposed to be an iPad... its meant to be used for hand written notes and ideas like a pen and paper notepad.
Most of my problems with the remarkable (I own a gen 1) are on the software side. I value the digital minimalism they try to achieve but I think its holding the device back for me. My wishlist for a remarkable 3/SW updates are: • Lower latency, cause its always nice. • Draw shapes/ Lines similar to how it works on an Ipad. • Configurable streamline when writing so lines are smoother. •Anti-aliasing for the lines. • Better export quality: things appear way worse when exported like if it was a photocopy of a sheet of paper. • A way to remove the X for the top of the screen: I always close my documents when putting my hand down to write. They could implement a gesture or move it in the menu. • Some kind of qupickshare of just a page: like a QR code I can scan to get just that page on my phone so I can write something quick and go without having to use the notes on my phone. • Background sync of the docs and better sync in general. HW: • Backlight • Faster refresh rate screen/less latency • Whiter pigments on the eink screen for better contrast. • Keep it B&W, no colors.
Would love a front light as well as a mini Remarkable. The Type Folio needs more sophisticated document software. Finally, they ought to add support for external keyboards, such as the Magic Keyboard, to their apps.

That seemed a reasonable list. But i think with Scribe integration coming with MS Word, Remarkable need to make sure they don't fall behind. Also, just Release a Remarkable 3 😅
Needs to be more bright. I bought the Kindle Scribe and now I can use it everywhere. The Remarkable 2 brightness makes it hard to read or write on, unless you are in a bright room.
Do you frequently use your Remarkable 2 still or have you completely switched to the Boox Note Air 2 Plus? -- I do really love how slim and light the Remarkable 2 is and I haven't really found anything that looks/feels quite as slick that I can just keep switched on the entire day (just like a note pad I can glance at any time).
Actually the opposite. I started with the Boox Note Air 2 Plus and then switched to the reMarkable 2. I would consider the reMarkable 2 my daily driver, but I'm actively reviewing the Boox Tab Ultra C at the moment, so I've been using that.
Nice video! I've gone through some of videos, but couldn't find an answer to my question: can I copy a graph from PDF file and copy it to my personal note? As I student, this is really important feature to have 😊
Other languages also need to be added to the keyboard's software. For example, characters like 'ş, ç, ğ, ü' in Turkish. Just like what Freewrite and boox has been doing for years.
You're all probably gonna think I'm crazy but I bought a Tab s8 a while back and I put a specific paperfeel screen protector on it. I've been using it to take notes for quite some time now and I got used to it and now I really like it. I can turn on either focus mode or do not disturb mode but to be honest I don't always need to be in distraction free mode. The note app I use almost replicates the Remarkable experience perfectly with nearly every feature. But I do like that I can add color or color highlights to my notes on my tab s8. But to be fair I gave the Remarkable a shot. To be honest I just didn't feel like I was using it any differently than my Tab s8. It just seemed like I was carrying another device around but doing the same thing and spending another $350. So I ended up sending it back. I see the appeal for some but it just not needed for my use case.
Indexed Document Search (or the lack thereof) is the reason I started using a BOOX instead of my Remarkable 2. I need to be able to find stuff months later.
Well thought out suggested improvements. Biggest pet peeve is changing between my pen and highlighter as you've suggested. That said, I wonder the more you change and move away from the original pen and paper concept, is it defeating its original purpose of keeping things simple? The last thing I want is Remarkable becoming an iPad. There's change and then there's progress.
Lovely video Brandon! SW additions that I would love to see: - Secondary pen option - Possibility to toggle off the Text button or personalization of the side-bar in general - Better sync with the Mac app - Drawing basic shapes or having the possibility of a straight line - A precise button for zoom and de-zoom or a better implementation of the gesture, It's really flimsy
+1 Thank you for acknowledging that all users do not value pinch to zoom and auto-scrolling; that a simple way to satisfy both classes of users are configuration options to enable and disable them.
@@BrandonKBoswell I’ve had it from the very start (I pre-ordered it) and mine keeps loosening where the words should be on the screen when I transferred from handwritten to text . Once or twice I got it to give me a perfect sentence but that barely ever happens now and it definitely can’t do a paragraph.
