Hello everyone! The wait is over, I hope you enjoy these tips! Lemme know in the comments if you would like to see more videos like this, and if you found any tips helpful. Have a great day, and as always, thanks for watching!
Thanks for making this video! These are exactly the tips I was hoping for and I think you have a huge opportunity to be the definitive resource for 2-handed content on RU-vid Do you have any drills or exercises on how to keep the elbow in/tucked on the downswing?
No problem! I’m glad these tips helped you out! I am looking to make more informational videos, so stay tuned. As for the drills, I could try to make a shorter video (maybe a RU-vid short), if you’re looking to keep your elbow in :)
i’m one of those players that has such a high rev rate but my speed of the ball and how fast it hooks is too much just because my speed is tooo slow but this helped out so thank you
Make a comparison video about using house ball and shoes against your own ball and shoes. I need proof that using house balls and shoes are terrible. If I'm wrong about this then I'll just face reality that I suck
1. Nice pop collection 2. Is there any workouts you do before you bowl? Cause im new to 2 handing and my knees tend to hurt, im sure also fixing my approach will fix that as well but just wondering.
Thank you!! Before bowling, I’ll sometimes do some curls and push-ups, but no workouts for my legs. I always make sure to stretch well, right before throwing the ball, however. I’m thinking that you could be experiencing pain if you have little or no slide? Just a theory though, I don’t know how you bowl lol.
Those were great tips. Thanks. One thing that I want to make more prominent for two-handed bowlers who need to get the ball down lane is hand position (I recently discovered this after several years of playing and now this is crucial to my game -- I am also 57 and not a young speed demon -- so I assume that it will benefit others, too). The ball should rest comfortably in your palm and when you line up, keep your hand UNDER the ball (more under than behind) and even BEND your wrist towards yourself. Keep your hand in this position throughout the setup, the swing and the release, only at the end you let the ball roll off your hand by relaxing your wrist (otherwise you will throw it towards the ceiling!). Just think of the bowling ball as a plane and you want to land it nicely onto the lane. When I keep my hand behind the ball, instead of under it, my shot tends to die early and I miss the pocket or I don't hit with enough power. But really paying attention to my hand position has made a big difference. A very good percentage of my scores the last few days have been in the 220s and 230s. Of course, do this in tandem with leg speed. Lastly, the way I find it easiest to rest the ball in my palm properly is to get it situated in my right hand (I'm a righty) while holding my right arm across my chest. Then when the ball feels right, I move my right arm into its proper position (for me, that is out and away... I know that others move it out on the second step but I start with it out). I find that if I try to situate the ball in my hand while it is already in position, it never fits just right. These are just little details that help me. They may be meaningless to you.
Gonna use these tips when I go to the lanes next. Currently do about 10-11mph (just started 2H) working on better targeting and getting that ball speed up!
That’s awesome to hear! I apologize for the late response, hopefully you’ve had the chance to try it out at this point. If so let me know how things are going!
Can you explain how you straighten your arm in downswing/transition? You go from bent in backswing to straight in transition. I’m dying to get this move but can’t figure it out.
@@TheTwoHandedTour I noticed in your later swings that you really started to take a big step right with your 3rd step. Did your coach recommend that? Is it to open up more?
So my coach told me moving back on the approach is counterintuitive to gaining more ball speed as it’ll take longer to get to the foul line. This is often a common misconception and less than ideal. I used to think the same until he showed me how much juice I got moving further up on the approach.
You’re correct. I stand further up on the approach as well. The thing about moving back is that it’s a more temporary fix to ball speed, more of a beginners tip when the ball is hooking too much.
@@TheTwoHandedTour that’s fair, I only started two handed bowling in August and I think I did it until I had my in person lesson and only then did I move up. I also don’t have the traditional “hop step” 2 handers have which I know can definitely help with delivering optimal power. I’m more of a Chris Via type and I throw 14. 🤘🏻
@@met4lb4zedo you have a vid of your swing or can you at least explain it. I can’t imagine how being closer to the foul line could generate higher ball speeds. Just take the extreme example… if I stand in front of the ball return, there’s zero chance I get jogger speeds than if I stand all the way back.
This might not work for everyone, but i've found that I need to hunch over a lot more, kind of trying to replicate Simonsen in my head, you get better slide at the release. The more upright you are, the more weight you are leaving on your heel and you get less slide.
