New bowler, went from 99 last week to 205 tonight, been watching your videos for two handed bowling. Get my first ball next week, can’t wait to see how a reactive feels vs a house ball

@@BigSkyBowler I bought my first reactive (tropical surge) and scored 68, feels pretty bad. lol - first time finger tips and I throw too slow so the ball was just hooking into the left gutter

@@KaizenOz yup a reactive ball is quite the change from a house ball. Your going to have to get used to trying to get the ball into the oil on your house shot if you want it to get any length down lane.

@@BigSkyBowler I've been throwing from as far left as possible with the house and my speed is only 12-13mph, but Im guessing that will improve with time and footwork. I'll keep watching your channel and working at it :)

Great analysis thank you! Would love to see more of these soon! i definitely agree that belmo has one of the best forms. His balance, spine tilt and swing are truly world class. What is your opinion on the amount of control he has to change speeds at will for easier control. As for someone who is still fairly new to bowling (since March, also two handed) What are other tips and tricks for a more accurate shot?
@BigSkyBowler
@BigSkyBowler Год назад
Your welcome and thank you for watching! My opinion? His ability to control everything so smoothly when he needs to is exactly why he is the best bowler in the world. His physical game is just amazing and its what allows him to adjust everything as necessary. Back when he first came on tour he had less capability than he has now. This is a fine example of someone learning how to become the most versatile player on tour. He can bang it up the gutter when he needs to and he can get deep and slow hook it when he needs to. I would recommend watching my series on keys to the two handed game on my channel: ru-vid.com/group/PL0RuV1yjxFnYDGTplAn47pkqQ51uihxbn These videos include many different tips to helping two-handers become more consistent.

I always take my first step to the left, then go straight up during the skip step, I keep my hips open. If I don't keep my hips open, I will miss my mark inside every time. I also relax my arm on the swing, definitely helps get speed on the ball.

@@BigSkyBowler thank you! And I really liked your analysis on Belmo’s ball speed. The fastest I currently throw it at is 18 MPH and that’s me really trying. He makes it look effortless and now I can see why. It’s his arms being more relaxed and less tense. I’m going to have to implement that in my swing

I'm in the same boat. I injured my bicep pretty bad 4 weeks ago bowling for the 2nd time in years throwing a 2 finger hook with a house ball. I joined a warm up league to get back into bowling and my bicep was hurting within a few throws. However i ended the first game with a 231. I should had stopped but because of the good score I kept bowling and eventually had to switch to just a straight ball because my bicep was hurting so bad. Anyways woke up the next day with the bicep super swollen and been in recovery mode ever since. Been watching a bunch of two-handed bowling content and I believe that it would take a lot of pressure off the bicep and make it to where I can bowl again.

I just started transitioning to 2 handed this season, about 8 weeks in. You mentioned that most 2 handed bowlers don't plant their trail leg, and I found that rather odd. You didn't really dive into it, but was curious if there's more insight to this. I assume since I was a 1H bowler first, the classic mentality of driving my trail toe into the approach, just carried over, but I never even thought about it, until you mentioned it in this video. Just curious.
@BigSkyBowler
@BigSkyBowler Год назад
It really comes down to how much spine tilt you are using in your approach. If your not using much spine tilt, keeping the trail leg on the floor isn't too difficult. As your spine tilt increases, your trail leg naturally wants to come off the floor.

It's interesting seeing Jason's style from the early days too, there's a short video of him from 1999 and his form was absolutely bonkers low compared to today. He really has refined his style alot

@Carbivore67
@Carbivore67 Год назад
Spine tilt doesn't increase shoulder extension.
@BigSkyBowler
@BigSkyBowler Год назад
You would be correct, because it's a combination of spine tilt and proper shoulder alignment. In the case of a two handed bowler, you cannot achieve a high back swing with just shoulder alignment. They work together.
@Carbivore67
@Carbivore67 Год назад
@@BigSkyBowler The majority of people are two-handed bowlers. I think you meant those who throw with two hands. But Belmonte actually throws with one hand/arm also, all he's doing is holding the ball longer with both hands before he releases with the right. His left hand does not assist to throw the ball anymore than the other 99 percent of traditional style bowlers.
@Carbivore67
@Carbivore67 Год назад
@@BigSkyBowler With this style of bowling, achieving a high back swing is not required.

Good clip, but the speeds you see on TV aren't at the pins, it's off the hand.
@BigSkyBowler
@BigSkyBowler Год назад
They have been using specto more and more often now so they are estimating off hand. In years past, it was always at the pins. Either way, you can usually calculate your speed off your hand easy with your speed from the pins. Speed at the pins + 2.
