1. Master the basics 2:49
2. Define what FIRE means to you 4:18
3. Learn how to hack your life 6:33

Excellent video, I am 27 years old, last week I lost 49% of my portfolio trading, so today 07/31/2023 I have decided to start creating a dividend portfolio. Although it will take me a long time to recover the money I lost 😔 Greetings from France

I feel you with the buying used/refurbished stuff. Bought my router for less than it would cost me to rent it from my provider for 2yrs, in an apt that I’ll probably spend the rest of the decade at

Exactly!!! It’s little things like that or your car cabin air filter. You can do that yourself and save $100s a year

I’ve found that Van Life is one helluva an expediter to achieving F.I.R.E. When you have no rent or mortgage to pay? Your utilities are free? Internet at public WiFi is free? You save hella cash! Use that cash to invest in a better life. 🤷🏻‍♂️

In a different world, I would have loved the Coast FIRE approach and once I hit coast fire, I would just travel the world in a van. A lot easier before you have kids.

Hey Jake! What are your thoughts on making a video as to "Why YOU may NOT truly want to F.I.R.E!" going over the downsides of retiring early say 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s..

The very first share i bought in our investment portfolio, was the hardest purchase haha. Had to tell myself take action. Even if it drops in value its ok. Learn from it…it drops 4% lol. Its back up since then 😅.

We did in my wife’s account. My wife is still working and dcaing into Dgrw each week. It’s really gone up though these past few months! I like it more with at least a 2% forward yield.
@DividendGrowthInvesting
@DividendGrowthInvesting 11 месяцев назад
Those 3 are great ETFs but Iim not the biggest fan of 33% in a semiconductor etf. Too much risk for my blood. Who knows what the world looks like in 20 years. It’s possible it way out performs, but not my approach. If i personally would limit to 5-10% and focus more on SCHD/DGRO if you want dividend cash flow.

I stopped investing in my taxable account because people have told me to fund a Roth because over time our economy will raise taxes on everybody, what do you think about taxes going up over time down the road?
@DividendGrowthInvesting
@DividendGrowthInvesting 11 месяцев назад
Well either the economy has to become more productive or taxes have to go up. This is obviously a very simple way of looking at it. The answer is you can’t know the answer so you should plan for either outcome by diversifying. I invested in my 401k with my job and converted it into my Roth IRA while also investing in my taxable account. There is no one right answer and your answer may be entirely different than people you speak with. Educate yourself on both your options and make the best decision you know how with the information you have and learn to be content with that decision.
@hallpaintandbody7717
@hallpaintandbody7717 11 месяцев назад
When I leave my job, I have to move all of my 401k. Can I move it to a Roth IRA tax free? Or would it be taxed at 32% plus 10% before 59 1/2?
@DividendGrowthInvesting
@DividendGrowthInvesting 11 месяцев назад
You will want to make sure you know what you are doing. You can do a like kind roll over that will not cause a taxable event. If you convert your 401k to a Roth IRA, then yes you will pay all the taxes in that year - but will be tax free after that.
@hallpaintandbody7717
@hallpaintandbody7717 11 месяцев назад
@@DividendGrowthInvesting Thank you, so a like kind or direct roll over means all my stocks get transferred from my 401k. Just trying to figure out what's best to do with 100k.
@DividendGrowthInvesting
@DividendGrowthInvesting 11 месяцев назад
@@hallpaintandbody7717 well it depends on the brokerage. some will be able to transfer your ETFs/Stocks directly, and others will sell the positions and send you a check to give to the new brokerage if you transfer to a new brokerage. The important thing is to understand how much of that 100K are contributions and what are gains (FYI any contributions from your employwer are considered taxable if you do traditional 401k to Roth 401k). You pay tax only on the gains and employer contributions.

Yah I'm sure germany is very cheap. I think you're barking up the wrong tree there. Geoarbitrage may be problematic if doing it when you're older. If you have fixed resources you may want to limit the amount of mistakes you make when making these types of life changing decisions. Do what you know and where you know can limit the amount of poor decisions you may have to eat later on. Which can be hard to do if you have to dip into accounts etc. Also time can be an issue as well. Options are good to have I agree with alot of this just some stuff not so much.
