great video as usual! one quick question, isn't better to "flip" the puck high and soft forward instead of risking to send it out of play? probably we don't have the delay of game penalty but i was wondering :D

Instead of rimming it hit try hitting the boards right where it meets the goal line. Goes right on the wings tape every time.

We are doing a video for forwards to use the boards. We could do a video for breaking out as well. If you visit our website we have an article for the role of the winger and there are some good videos embedded. I also shared a little breakout tip at the end of our video for backwards crossovers.

It depends on the league, in the NHL you can't change after an icing, but it varies depending on where you play and what level. Sometimes it's your only option and your best option when you're getting dominated by the other team.

It depends on the situation, a team mate might come and help you out and they take the puck, or you battle quickly fight the guy off and continue moving up the boards, or you see an opening and move the puck up the boards for another player, lots of scenarios.

I find flipping off the glass works wonders sometimes. Wingers pick it up in the clear often.

How do you rim a puck Jeremy?
@howtohockeytraining
@howtohockeytraining 11 лет назад
It is possible but not always the safest play. If you don't get the puck high enough the defense will knock the puck down and have possession in a good area. The worst scenario is if you whiff on the flip and give the puck right to the defense on the point. I've seen it happen a few times, sometimes resulting in goals. It is better to go high off the glass because it keeps the puck out of the high percentage scoring areas and overall it's a safer play.

A video on boardplay would be great. That stuff is absolutely exhausting!

You need to do a video of board battles. How to wrap someone up how to move people off the puck . And the opposite like how to defend it.

Wait, you can do a line change on an icing call? I thought that the line who iced it needs to stay for the next face off. Might've misunderstood this though.
@naderzein2435
@naderzein2435 2 года назад
You are right that's in the NHL, many beer leagues will let you change on an icing though.

@eliteicehockeyanalysisnorc1824
Teaching defenseman to flip it off glass and rim it isn't the greatest approach for development. Passing into the middle is a valuable tool, centermen need to swing low and be in position to receive the pass, without considering the center option your opponent will read your breakout. Also learning "aerial passing" or "punts" is something that can be quite valuable, that being said it can be risky but that is why it needs to be practiced rather than banished, watch the pro game, you see it constantly. Escape turns, deception, reverses are things to also consider. More tools need to go into the toolbox...
@laneazure2074
@laneazure2074 8 лет назад
But passing up the center isn't always an option...it is good to have another tool in your toolbox. In this case, off the glass works.
