We'll do this going from "cleaner" applications to boosting a metal amp passing through blues, rock and Hard rock contexts
1 0:11 Giving color to the clean sound
2 0:57 As your main overdrive
3 1:40 After another overdrive to "tame" it
4 3:25 Before another overdrive to boost it
5 5:00 To tighten an overdriven amp (metal amps but also classic marshalls Plexis can get you a metal tone...also...try this setting on the edge of break up on your amp to crank your amp into overdrive! I couldn't...my neighbours... )

Internet forums are awesome. Some other ways I found you can use the Tube Screamer: 1) Boosting solos 2) blunt object for self defense 3) paperweight... personally I disagree. The only thing I would use as paperweight is my Hot Rod Deluxe :) Feel free to indulge in creatimg humorous usages... love this stuff!

This was a really great demo. I've had this pedal for YEARS, and never really understood how to use it , so never really did. Now I'm watching demo vids, and it makes sense! lol. "that was weird" that part was awesome!!!! and weird!!!! hahaha. Oh and I'm glad you demo'd with a Strat, because I have one (SRV model, in fact), so the tone is very close!

I can't live without at least one Tubescreamer in my arsenal. I think the TS-9 is my favorite, but I also have a TS-808, a Hardwire CM-2, a Digitech Bad Monkey, and a Behringer TO-800. I love am all!

davecooper360 I've got both the TS9 , Boss SD-1 & Digitech Bad Monkey....In my overdrive collection. Plus the MXR 5150 Overdrive (I don't consider that an Overdrive ) I can't believe how cheap that you can pick up the Bad Monkey 2nd hand. It totally rocks just as well as the others
@BlackMusicGenre
@BlackMusicGenre 7 лет назад
davecooper360 IMO it seems like the Hardware CM -2 has more options than the Ibanez tubescreamers modded or not . It's like having 2 pedals in one with classic and modified switch addition. Also the pedal has a high and low knob to tweek the settings on your pedal . I just returned a ts808 mod 2 days ago . Don't get me wrong . I like clarity on the mod , but it just doesn't have the fullness and bass that I can get out of the CM-2. I just can't get into the Ibanez pedals . Maybe soon I can give it another go. Also , from what I understand the CM-2 is updated version of the Bad Monkey I guess ?

many people don't know this but the overdrive pedal was first intended to emulate the tones of a cranked up tube amp... without having to crank up your tube amp. ie, to push you to breakup at lower volumes.
@MNGuitars

nice tones and playing!!! another use, as far as stacking at least, is before a fuzz, it tightens it up soo much it's like having a 3rd gain pedal. I use an mxr bc108 fuzz face, it has it's own buffer so I can happily run a typical buffered TS, mine a trex alberta, into it without messing badly with the fuzz impedence=) happyyyy days

Careful there kiddo, there is something called tinitis hiding in your amp. .. and it doesn't rear it's ugly head till years later and it's quite annoying. you'll hear a dull screaming sound in your head 7/24. now a word of caution, please protect your ears. you can't trade them in and they're yours for life. afflicted me. happy times.

Yes. priceless advice. Play it safe. Even with ear protection, long duration high volume can still take it's permanent toll. Take breaks, and definitely stand away from amp. Just be aware of what you're doing to yourself. Blues is speaking the truth here! Better safe, than deaf! Thanks for the reminder!

Depends on the individual. You have receptors like small hairs in your ear and they all receive sound at different frequencies. When they are exposed to, to much dB they flatten down and they will ring at that frequency until they raise back up again healed. If they exhaust they flatten permanently and cause ringing or deafness in those frequencies. Some individuals do not experience this phenomenon- Elton John is a prime example, he can endure onstage monitor levels of 130+dB for decades now and has no hearing damage whatsoever from it as his receptors do nit fatuous and exhaust.
