I just felt that I need to let you know that I typically do not like the RU-vidr girls because they all seem to be trying “too hard” and appear too much up in your face. Something about your vibe feels so different! You seem like a humble, friendly, genuinely kind person who just minds her business. Love it. Keep spreading the “good human” energy. This is just honest opinion from one stranger to another.

You can never go wrong with Retin A (retinol) a good moisturizer and sunscreen on your face everyday.

Sylvia, I absolutely love your haircare advice ❤ However, I have some concerns about your skincare tips-they seem a bit fearmongering and potentially harmful. There are plenty of SPFs, especially from Asian brands, that work wonderfully under makeup! I hope you'll give some of them a try. For instance, Canmake's SPF has become my go-to day primer because it sits absolutely beautifully under makeup. When it comes to retinols, consistency is actually much more important than strength. If you can't tolerate a prescription-strength retinol (which requires experience to handle), using a retinoid or lower-strength rerinol daily still gives you super comparable results!!😊 Wanted to share some insights on retinols as well regarding what you said about skin barrier. it's crucial to avoid overly strong formulations initially because ye, they do disrupt it if you're not experienced in usinf them. But Retinols help with the shedding of dead skin cells and promote the formation of new, healthier cells, which can strengthen the overall structure of the skin barrier over time. They also stimulate collagen production, which fortifies the skin and makes it more robust and less prone to damage. To help your skin adjust to retinols, I recommend using a zinc cream like Avene Cicalfate or any cream with "cica" in its name. These products can give a lot of soothing support to helo your skin's tolerance to retinols.

I said I was essentially new to the SPF game slowly finding my favorite. I don't think that is fearmongering. I think its important to stay informed on the effects of what we are using without questions, such as retinols. I was simply stating the reason why I found it hard for me to use a daily SPF (on my face) and as for Retinols I will absolutely be very weary putting them on my face.

If you are very budgeted I like cerave products. The face lotion for day is super plumping and the sunscreen doesn't irritate my eyes or feel sticky.

I love you clarifying your definition of aging as more to mean "damage control" young ppl can have fried hair and skin and look "aged" as we used to think of it. It's free radical damage and UV damage and life + time can lead to more of that naturally!!! And same with weight/fitness... Sedentary for a week is way different than sedentary for a decade.... Hence "aging". You can't escape damage and the natural processes like generic codes like menopause etc but you can minimize environmental damage or camouflage it. Healthy aging is beautiful to most ppl but it's the environmental damage that is painful to see because we love to see ourselves as living in a healthy world... Ppl around us are a reflection of our environment. If everyone around us looks dehydrated or under nourished or damaged from smoke or sun it's hardwired survival to want to reject that. Where are the ppl who glow with nutrition and clean air. Let me be there! So yes..... It's natural. Also important to understand why it's so important to be kind and patient with everyone because of you're looking best up from health issues you can be treated terribly from binge eating disorder to looking sickly from chemo or anorexia to sallow from addiction to working overnights even can drain your healthy appearance and so much more autoimmune diseases vitiligo alopecia pregnancy can decay your teeth and delete nutrients and that's not even a disease!

I really admire your *hair* expertise, but you are spreading misinformation about skincare here. Chemical sunscreens are not “worse” for your skin than mineral sunscreens, and retinol (specifically Tretinoin) is not harmful to your skin barrier - it sounds like you were just using too much and too strong a dosage at a time. It’s the gold standard if used correctly (i.e., building use low and slow).

Salicylic acid is more soothing of an acid for and. Don't over use. Just do daily after cleansing before moisture until acne subsides. Then only use like once or twice a week as needed. You'll know when you need it eventually.

The point of the video was to point out things that are aging your skin (and hair) I have severely cut back on injectables since I have had my daughter however, I have also never denied using them. In terms of aging your skin I think- retinols overtime can be way more aging- from the information I have gathered from professionals and experts in the field.

@@Ellebangs Professionals must disagree on the use of retinol. I have not heard anything but good. I have been on the medium dose strength of tretinoin for close to two decades. I am 67 and I always get asked about how I keep my skin looking the way it does. I tell them the big guns for me are tretinoin and sunscreen. I have never had lasers nor chemical peels. I would hate to see what my skin would look like at my age had I not been diligent especially with these two things. My profile pic is unfiltered. I did not have filters on the phone this photo was taken. I never would filter anyways.

@@kathystclair9485 I’m 45 and I’ve been using Obagi tretinoin and hydroquinone since 2011, stopping for about 3 years while I was pregnant and nursing. I started at the lowest strength until I could comfortably use the 0.1%. Quite frankly I can’t afford Botox or fillers so I’ve never used them.

I don't get why you say you need to wash your hair more often than weekly or bi-weekly to cleanse your scalp, yet you say to use a scalp oil at least weekly to moisturize the scalp. It seems to me that cleansing the scalp is removing natural oils and you are replacing it with non-natural oils. If you aren't using any hair products (hairspray etc.), isn't it better to not wash your scalp and keep the natural oils than add artificial (non-natural) oils?

Your natural hair oils that sit on your scalp for longer than 1-2 days accumulate dust and debris which lead to clogging a ton of other hair and scalp issues. When I suggest oiling the scalp, these are clean oils(molecularly sized) to help you hair health. I also always suggest using them as pre- cleanse- my favorite way to use them. It gets a far deep cleanse than shampoo alone and stimilates and lubricate the hair folicles in a way that our own oils don't.

The worst, unprofessional and in fact possibly harmful advice/fearmongering on Retin A (tretinoin), backed by poor understanding of it's mechanisms and effects on epidermis. Please, stick to the area of your expertise, which I assume is hair. I personally admire your DIY hair tutorials, and have been thankful for those for years.
