I have owned this car since August, and I'm in love since day one. It is a real diamond for what it is and offers, I have no complaints at all; happy owner here!
Same here. I have been driving my new LT model for three weeks, and I am in love with it. It is a great vehicle with alot of great features for the money. It is great on gas, and has alot of pickup despite the engine size. I use my car to commute back and forth to work, and to and from the grocery store. I get this vehicle is not for everyone.
My wife and i were on the market for a RAV4 or CRV and we saw these on the chevy lot. We bought 2 Trax for the price of what 1 RAV4 would have cost us out the door. On our 3rd oil change and absolutely love it. Would recommend .
@@kelj4517 There's a lot of vehicles that have lubricated timing chains and the darn things still have issues and cost a fortune to repair. If a chain goes while running down the road, there's often no difference, your engine could easily be lost. From what I've read it has a 150k service interval, so it's designed for that environment. That just means it's more important to perform maintenance properly for your operating conditions -- just as it is for an engine with a chain.
Just bought a black LT Trax, we love it. This is a poor review of a nice affordable vehicle. These things punch way above the price in what you get. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING WITH A CVT IVT or any other kind of trash trans. This ride has a real trans and a powerplant that has been in service for a few years without any major issues.
I've had my 2RS since last August and I never realized the armrests were scratchy? OMG I live in the real world. Seriously I have 10k on mine and haven't had any issues. I love it. The only thing I don't have is the Convenience safety tech, a disappointment but what I could find.
In order to get the SUV Corolla or Civic, you’re going to be paying over 30 grand. I got my 2024 Trax RS for under 24 grand and I love it. No, it may not have all the bells and whistles on it, but I didn’t have to pay the extra cost for them, either. Running 60mph, I average 32 mpg, running 87 octane. Now, there are 2 things I do not like about it. I have manual seats, not the problem. The problem is the tiny, little handle in the middle at the extreme lower part of the seat. It is very hard to reach at a standstill, let alone when driving. The second is this god awful noise canceling noise at certain speeds that is 100 times worse than the road noise it is supposed to help get rid of. The plastic armrest’s? They are arm rest, you aren’t supposed to lean on them, they’re fine. It is very roomy and I don’t have an issue with the takeoff speed. It has plenty of power. I get on an 80 mph turnpike without any issues with it. It has plenty of speed for passing on 2 lane highways. No, it isn’t a sports car, but it is yet sporty. We love our Trax 1RS.
I've done a lot of research since I got my Trax 2024 a month ago. The Turbo engine is sensitive, so it needs TLC: I learned I should let the idle calm down after starting the vehicle, then drive it easy (lower RPMs) to let the oil circulate into the turbo bits and warm up for a few minutes before I start pushing it - a bit longer in cold weather. If I drive it hard, I should let it cool down for a few minutes by driving light or sitting at idle before turning it off, to prevent hot oil from burning the turbo components. I should change the oil at around 1000 miles (to get rid of break-in metal filings), 3000 miles, then every 4k-5k miles or 6 months, whichever happens first. Full synthetic of the appropriate grade ONLY. I need to be mindful of the air filter - have it changed every couple oil changes. And I should expect to get the internal wet timing belt inspected and or replaced at 40k-50k miles, despite the manual recommendation of 150k miles. Any degradation of the belt will quickly affect other components from rubber fragments, and a slipping belt could mean pistons colliding with valve covers because this is an 'interference' engine - that is, the pistons in their movement occupy space that the valves also occupy when they are open, but proper timing keeps them in sync so they don't collide. If the pistons and valves collide, severe engine damage is likely. The engine is aluminum, so it should cool down before any mechanic work occurs on the engine bolts, to prevent the threads from deforming. I'd like this vehicle to last me 11 years. I'll be putting around 90k miles on it. I have no issue with the 'hard' elbow rests since I have a little fat on my arms. But I HATE the angled headrests. I keep mine as low as possible but will consider getting a headrest that allows my head to be more in line with my spine. Terrible design that addresses 'safety'. I also keep the Auto Stop turned off - I don't trust the extra wear it will put on my engine. Sometimes it doesn't like to accelerate much on a hot afternoon (maybe because the A/C is running?), but I'll deal with that.
You seem quite anal about the car. You don't need to baby it like that. I have a turbo mazda with 200,000 miles no issues. I never do any of the cool down or start up practices you do. That's ridiculous. As far as the car not accelerating as good on hot days, that's because it's a turbo. The cooler the outside temps are the more air is fed into the turbo which creates more horsepower.
I've had my 1RS since February and it is working really well. I don't know why in all these videos they complain about the armrest and some other minor things?! Maybe they don't find anything else! Yes, it's not a perfect car, but at this price it is a perfect car. Live in the real world and adapt your expectations to the price you pay.
Say what you want about the Trax. But I had a kia Seltos and I sold it to buy a Trax and have been nothing but happy about the switch. The only thing that Kia and Hyundai have over the Trax is the Warranty. They are a piece of junk vehicles that most insurance companies don't want to insure nowadays. In fact I would recommend a Trax to anyone who's in the market for a very nice affordable vehicle
As far as "losing" 18 hp compared to the previous generation, most first-generation Trax models had the 138 hp version of the 1.4L Turbo, which also put out 148 lb/ft of torque. The Trax had the 155 hp version as the sole engine only for its last model year in 2022. The 1.2L has similar power but more torque than the 1.4L that you'll find in most 1st gen models.
My mother had a Cruze Eco version with the 1.4T and I would borrow it sometimes when my car would be getting repaired. I find that these small turbo engines ECM needs to learn how one drives the car. Sometimes you need drive it aggressively to get the ECM to tune the engine to get the turbos to spool up quicker, especially from a dead stop/taking off. This will keep the the car from falling flat on its face from turbo lag.
Can't beat the price for the looks.👍 Especially in this economic times. Other brands like Honda and Kia have high markup over MSRP. Honda had an $8,000 higher than MSRP and said it started at $22,000. I couldn't afford that Kia and Hyndai wanted $2,500 to $3,500 above MSRP. Mazda said they will sell at MSRP$25,000 but, kept adding on and ended up over $28,500 without the taxes and destination fees. This is the best in the class. Actually, it's in a class of it's own. There truly is no comparison. Surprised they still make a car around $21,000.
The only issue might be the motor. Turbo and the rubber timing belt inside the oil with a PITA process to change it before it blows out and takes out the motor. Other then that I feel like I got a great deal and do love the car.
I just got my 1RS recently, via a trade in, but while it makes less power compared to the previous gen, it weighs approx 200lbs less than the previous gen. And feels quicker too! But yeah. loving it so far! Great vid guys!
" Worst things " ,, where you put your elbow is too hard ?? ,,,, you don't like where the start button is ,,, really ??? good God, talk about nit picking. We just picked our 2025 Trax LT up yesterday, I'm absolutely gobsmacked at what you get for your buck. If you do a lot of highway driving and some off roading then this vehicle is not for you. Tooling around town this little SUV is the cat's ass ,, fantastic little vehicle, well done Chevrolet the quality of finish is right up there with the best of them. By miles this vehicle gives you outstanding " bang for your buck " ,,
Seriously. There are FOUR DIFFERENT screens for the 8 inch driver screen. Maybe own the vehicle and drive it in a foot of snow in 18 degrees before you start bad mouthing it. I would buy five more Trax instead a Ford, KIA, Hyundai, Mazda, Nissan, Honda or Toyota with a the junk CVT. There is a reason Trax owners love these because we have put the miles and time into them.
@@cisaacs09ify Had no issues in the March 14th major snow storm in the Denver Metro. 1'-3' depending on where you were at. Took twice as long to get to work but it made it.
I live in Idaho and just purchased one. I have never had a AWD here but clearance has been the issue with all my vehicles in the snow. Too low to the ground. Hoping better results with the trax!
I owned a chevy Cruze 2012 for about 5years after 63k the turbo blew up and many parts had to be replaced by chevy they fully backed their automobile I purchased, that being said I'm still kinda leary about any turbo engines, I really am looking at hybrid system cars without a turbo engine to get great gas milage but a lot more confidence that it will last. I really like this trax and want to love this cheaper offering but with my family in mind Its a pass on buying one .
Honestly i hate the wheels, it makes a practical vehicle look ghetto. Like its trying to be a muscle car... aggressive looking , 3 cylinder 😅😅 its not.
The turbo charger will eventually kill that engine in about 3 to 4 years with blown head gaskets Just sell before warranty expires don’t just look at the great styling
There are some other reviews by guys that are 6ft and taller. Can't remember the channel names but the comments are that it fits well, both front and back.
I don't think that's a real SUV. The roof is too low. It's a crossover... It's like a really tall sedan but the back is like somewhere in between a station wagon and hatchback
Enough room for 4 adults -YES! Engine overstressed? It doesn't seem like it. As for durability, only time will tell but this engine has been used for several years in Asian markets and searches show little in complaints.
Parents have my grandparents GM family purchase program. Paying only MSRP, no markup, and my down payments it’s $150 a month. Seems likes a a decent commuter. Not a fan of 3cyl. But my race care is an SRT4. I just need to get groceries without getting pulled over with my no cat SRT4
I am the happy owner of a '25 Trax 2RS and disagree with most of your complaints, especially because of the price. Yes it lacks some features and would be $2k+ more expensive if it had them, negating the advantage it has. The performance is fine, granted not sports car level but for daily use it has more than enough power. I actually prefer the use of harder plastics in the interior as they are harder to damage and cheaper to replace if you have to. As for FWD only, that is the point! All the other small SUV/crossovers offer that but most people actually don't need AWD.
I bought my 2024 Chevrolet Trax RS in June of last year. 3 months ago my engine light came on.. I immediately took it to the dealership . They ran a diagnostic test on it , a code came up and I was told it was surge ugh forgot the other word. Basically he said not to gun it at all , he also said it was okay to drive just as long as don’t gun it.. I am thinking to myself that it is never best to drive a vehicle with your engine light on because to me it could lead to a problem to another problem and so forth to where it will cost $1,000’s of dollars that I don’t have .. According to the dealership that my car is still under warranty.. What really gets me it has been 3 months and was told that I will call when the part comes in.. Called today a guy answered the phone and the same thing again of been told the same thing. That there is the part here already, then he says that it was on back order, he says it was shipped and now it is here.. Let me back up a little bit to explain why I don’t trust them.. When I first took it in and they ran a check on it to find out what it was, the guy told me that there was a part there already , they could put it on to see if it fits.. I was surprised that would even suggest that because I was always thought that when you get a brand new car with different year that the parts would be different compared to a 2023 or a 2022 Chevrolet Trax..With that being said why would someone from a dealership offer that , think they would not offer that at all.. That there had me not to trust them .. Now they are pulling a lie and having a difficult time trying to sound like that the part came in and saying it was on back order , it was shipped and now it is there.. The guy couldn’t say when it arrived, couldn’t answer the question of why I wasn’t contacted about the part coming in when I was told that I will get a phone call when it came in. Also during the conversation the guy said he has been there only 2 weeks after me saying to him nothing you said makes any sense accept that you are lying.. He would be quiet like he was talking to someone on what was going on and telling him to say whatever.. He asks me would like to bring you car in today, due to the time I said no .. He goes you can bring it in tomorrow.. I reluctantly said yes but to be honest after what they have done, what they didn’t do, not given me respect as a customer and lying to me I think that would be a bad idea. Plus they can damage my car, make it out to be they didn’t do it and I get stuck with how much it will cost for something they have done to where I can’t pay it to and have a vehicle only a little over year old to where I can’t afford to fix it and it stays parked to where it will be damaged for not driving it but still have 4 years to before it is paid off. My payments are expensive a month.
The Seeker is the same design but built in the China factory. The Trax name seems to be used if it came from the Korean factory. They are selling well in Korea and are a hit in the Philippines(they have a redline trim there!).
Thanks for sharing your insights. My main concern is the durability of the 1.2 three-cylinder engine. The low price of the 2024 Chevy Trax is certainly attractive, but I have to wonder how it will hold its value if the engine is not able to endure more than 120K miles due to the stress of having only three cylinders. The engine has purely direct injection without any port injectors, so it will be prone to buildup problems. Turbocharger's intercoolers in these engines are known to be weather-dependent. They will freeze when it's cold outside and the turbo will lose its efficiency. While in most cases, the problem will disappear when the engine is fully warmed up, in some situations, the intercooler may be damaged. Its replacement is not a cheap thing, so better avoid leaving your Trax outside for a winter night. You two make a good couple.
I test drove one and there is nothing good about it. It looks good and the buck stops there. I went with a 2024 Kia Seltos SX. I have a 1.6T 4 cyl, 8 speed auto, AWD, and many more features like Bose audio, sunroof, and smart liftgate.
@@dwnshft There are none. The comment was make a Trax type truck and the response was Ford did. No they did not. Even a Mav with ZERO options is $26K A fully loaded out Trax ACTIV is $27K. You can't even compare them. I have owned and driven 7 Fords in 40 years. Transmission issues in all of the automatics. Cars, trucks and SUV. I thought I wanted to buy another Ford until I started looking at how expensive they were compared to the 2024 Trax and how poorly Ford's CEO thinks of their loyal customers. If production can keep up with demand the Trax will be the third best selling GM behind the Silverado and Equinox.
The engine for Chevy Trax is 100% made in China. So much for buying America! The inside is nothing but hard plastic. People are having problems with windows and back up camera and the middle screen. Remember, size doesn't always matter.
Well, if it's a GM or Ford, it's junk!! I just don't want to buy a crossover that I will hate just by looking at your video! I'm driving a 2022 Hyundai Kona 1.6 turbo and I'm not the type that shops at Walmart, so I guess it's a no for me Trax!
Hmm. I feel after driving nearly 7,000 miles in 3.5 months that both the driver display, infotainment, environmental controls and the interior are all great and customizable. My Activ has cushy armrests and console. Not sure what these guys are talking about.
