Went offshore for some local Yellowfin. "One-stop-shop". Footballs for sure, but a little bigger than last year. Sorry about the water spot(s) :/

Amazing video as always! Congrats on a getting some nice fish! Out of curiosity, how long did it take you to catch all those fish? You do an amazing job cutting the footage so it seems like all the fish is caught within 20 min! 😁
@AndrewKloster
@AndrewKloster 6 лет назад
38 minutes and 28 seconds.... exactly. Haha!! The last fish i caught that day was the Skipjack. I went back to the raw GoPro footage to find the answer. You have to fish as fast as possible while they are biting. The other passengers picked off one or two here and there on other stops (trolling) but I never got bit again. This truly is One-and-Done style fishing.

one thing to remember when doing the over and the under tuna shuffle is that the person you're speaking to may not be able to hear you because of wind noise in their ears generator noise engine noise other people screaming noises so you as the veteran angler must take control when going under someone's line point your rod and that direction and step under them so they see your intentions and most people will backup don't assume that that person can hear you it is the fault of the crew member who didn't explain about the fundamentals of the cartoon of the tuna Shuffle also when calling for a gaff tell the crew members of your fishes intention by saying "color color color" then when the fish is within Gaff range yell "Gaff Gaff gaff" and add where you're location on the boat as "Stern" were the bait tank is, " Portside" , " starboard" , "Bow" the pointy side, this will help the crew to locate you and get there quicker if the fish is small enough 10 lb 20 pound you should just bounce the fish rather than wait for a gaff no need to put a hole in the filet of your dinner when you can just bounce it practice bouncing and catching your fish with your hand so that you don't drop your dinner onto the hard deck which will cause bruising in the meat .

n6yun You are 1-2 feet away from the person you need to go over or under. It is NO fault of a crew member that people don’t listen. Most people freeze or lock up and forget everything while fighting a fish or even just standing at the rail. It happens, doing it more helps prevent this. Can’t blame the crew for people who don’t listen. Yelling gaff over and over is not going to make the crew that has 5-30 fish at color get to you faster. They can only go so fast and I am sure they want the fish on the boat more than you do. As far as what side and where on the boat you are yes yelling gaff in the stern, port ect is helpful I am sure. Get to know the crews names. If you are near the back know the guy on the bait tanks name say hey so and so I need a gaff over here. He is the guy who is helping call out where each crew member needs to be for assistance and most of the time it’s the captain on the tank. Sometimes a deck hand but in a wide open bite the skipper likes to take the tank to help keep the fish where he wants them and keep the crew moving how he wants. Bouncing a fish is hard on the tackle, it’s hard on the body and very hard to get right with out lots of practice and yes with out a doubt very dangerous. With all that said to catch a fish a tuna fish none the less in mid air is a easy way to get a hook in your body and end the trip. I would say this is by far the worst advice you could give anybody and boarder line stupid! Video was great Drew did a great job and it absolutely shows a good bite and how to handle yourself. Not sure what boat you work on or what experience you have but the advice your giving is not sound advice and I would encourage you to spend more time on a boat or find your way to fish with the guy who made the video and get some pointers.

@@loyaltilltheend2500 I would strongly suggest bringing a heavy rig to go along with your light gear. There's some trophy Bluefin out there, and it would be a shame to be under gunned. If you can, try to bring a 50# two-speed setup with plenty of line capacity.

Thank you! I was using the Shimano Terez TZC-80MH (30# fluoro topshot) and TZC-80H (50# fluoro topshot). For tuna I prefer a rod with a little more parabolic bend, I lose fish with fast action rods. drive.google.com/drive/folders/1FCfhUKZEO_tfQkXbs3j2oY227_f8JlXi?usp=sharing drive.google.com/drive/folders/1PxJ7iZ-YnrtwyboXEqVbZTeubTtvR2q3?usp=sharing .

Nice of them to cook your tuna in burlap before you take it home
@AndrewKloster
@AndrewKloster 5 лет назад
The New Seaforth has a refrigerated seawater fish hold (RSW). The tuna were only in the burlap for a few minutes. Once the bite slowed the tuna were tagged and dropped into the RSW where they remained nice and cold until the end of the trip.

@AndrewKloster
@AndrewKloster 5 лет назад
If tied correctly it's one of the strongest knots out there. Make sure you don't twist or cross the lines, and the final loop should go over the top of the knot before cinching down. Cinch it TIGHT.
