Damn, I love honda motorcycles specifically from the 80s-2000s and a honda shadow 1100 is my first bike and this broke my heart a little. The reason the 5.56 and 7.62 didn't go through the tank is because you shot where the frame backbone is. You could probably penetrate that tank with a screwdriver.

I think the Raufoss hit a rod or piston in the engine and that is what stopped it as theyre usually made of pretty heavy duty materials. The .50 still did what it was designed to do, that would have definitely disabled the engine and for a real world scenario you actually would hope that a bullet doesnt over penetrate

Scott, as for the gas tank, the big calibers must have hit the internal chassis structure. That's why only the 22 and the 500 made it through (higher shots).

Reaper Havoc awesome! I just bought my second 85 Honda Shadow VT500c. First one only died after my Buddy feel trying to learn and whisky throttled it on the way down. Got super lucky on the second one. Drove 300mile but only paid $300 for it. 12,000 miles runs rides. Put tires, oil...and a new battery on her. Swapping the better parts to the one with the good motor. The First one I put 30,000 miles on in two summers before... I also own an 85 Honda Shadow VT700c, needs carb work, but runs. Not in to bad of shape either. I have a really clean 74Honda Elsinore MT250 with clean title and original paint. Love it. You are right. Unless you buy a whole bike or just get lucky parts are really hard to find. Don’t know where you live but I’m in Indiana. I believe some of the parts are interchangeable from 85-86. If I can help let me know.?

Same comments for gas tank apply to the motor as well. Front cylinder probably had the piston and connecting rod higher up and the rear cylinder had them lower so the front had more metal in the way. Same for shooting the lower part of the motor, there's a crank and transmission gears hiding in there.

I think the Honda VF1100C might be called differently in the US is among the best looking bikes, looks like this one just more engine :) And i bet the bullet did go trough the block cause the pistons might have been in the way on one side and not the other.

Just remember that the tank is saddled over the chassis so there's a strong metal bar running throw the middle of the tank and the 556 and 762 could have been hitting that and looking at your shot placement I would say that's what happened

The 5.56 that hit the gas tank probably hit the upper frame that runs threw the gas tank. (Rather the gas tank sits down around the upper frame tube. That was awesome to watch with the incendiary rounds, and how much pop and flash on smoke it was made. As always keep making good content!

#Scott: Remember, the frame of the bike runs through the lower center section of the gas tank. That's why you weren't penetrating... you were hitting the crossbar. The rounds that hit the tank higher up only had two layers of sheet metal to go through, so even the .22 could do it.

The .22 only transferred the tank because there were several shots in the same area, it is better to have an automatic weapon in this caliber than a traditional semi-automatic ar15, for example 💁‍♂️

Problem is finding parts to get that Honda running. There's really no aftermarket other than filters and accessories for metric cruisers. I had an '83 and parts were near impossible to find which sucked because I was always working on the bike. As for Harleys, you can build a complete engine with nothing but aftermarket parts. The flipside is I've had my Harley 22 years and have never had a problem with it.

This is very simple, the motorcycle chassis passes right through the middle of the fuel tank, if you shoot in the middle or at the bottom it hits the chassis, but if you shoot at the top the bullet passes through it.

Don't forget, the gas tank slides over the upper part of the motorcycle frame there for you trying to punch through that as well.

5.56 probably hit the top of the frame where the tank cradles. So you're trying to go through tubular steel, somewhere between an 1/8" -1/4".

The first bullet hit the connecting rod and that's the only reason it didn't go through. Fun video.

The first cylinder he shot the piston was at top dead center or in mid stroke so that's why the round didn't go through. It hit the piston. The second cylinder he shot the pistons was at the bottom of the stroke so it wasn't in the way to stop it like the first so that's why it cut straight through the head.

You couldnt make it through the gas tank cause you was hitting the upper frame rail that splits the tank down the middle. Youd have to shoot high or real low to mis the frame spine running down the center or the tank.....

Your gas tank shots are stopping because the frame tunnel runs right behind your entrance holes. The top frame runner is in there and that's what's stopping the rounds.

The AR and AK didn't make it through the gas tank because where you were shooting it with those two, is where the tank tunnel sits around the back bone of the frame. It was the frame stopping the bullets, not the tank.

SimpliSafe is awesome...I also have that as well as Arlo Pro in the pole barn and that overlooks the back of the house as well as surrounding property...can't be too safe Scott...when it comes to our families...it's all worth while...thank you for your service Sir...
