Fun fact: there used to be a street in Los Angeles called Santa Barbara (Now Martin Luther King Jr Blvd) and there used to be a soap opera in the 80s called Santa Barbara, I believe the Soap SB was set in Santa Barbara which is called the jewel of California and the heart if the American Riviera because it sits on the coast.

Nightmare on Elm Street and Rain Man are set in Ohio. Family ties is a sitcom set in my hometown of Columbus.

That Minnesota representative didn't really give a firm answer, but "Fargo" is a good choice for the TV shows. I also haven't seen it, but I've heard good reviews of it. I hadn't expected so much of it to be set in Minnesota rather than in the city of Fargo, North Dakota, but my quick research says that is the case. I've only seen a few of the movies set in Minnesota, so my choice of "Juno" comes with little certainty that it would be considered the best of them. I also feel obligated to mention "Grumpy Old Men" and its sequel because they were set (although not filmed) in my small hometown of Wabasha.
