50 Shades Update #1

Let's just hope he either saves up TONS of strength, alcohol, and industrial strength bleach if he decides to review 50 Shades Darker, or doesn't do it alone. 'Cause DAYUMN. Lemme just give attention to one part: Christian shoves ICE CREAM up her vag at one point. Because surely that can't cause infections or anything in real life -_- I mean, as much as I dislike Twilight, in general it's more what it represents and how lazy much of it seems, and yet it still got that fucking successful. I don't have anything personally against Meyer, I just object to her abilities as a writer, and get somewhat sad due to what her writing ultimately spawned. Including the Twi-hards.. THIS shit however... holy fuck, 50 Shades is so much worse. Like, I'm not even in the BDSM community, and *I* want to track the author down and scream into her face how fucking stupid she is, and explain to her that what she's written is NOT a fucking romantic love story, no matter how much she tries to convince people that it is. In fact, the whole "It's meant to be a love story in the end" thing makes it even fucking worse.

Both of these series have a good premise, at least on a basic level. In Twilight, we have a cabal of vampires and a pack of werewolves feuding- and a town in the Pacific Northwest is caught in the middle. Good premise, right? You have a story that lends itself well to a survival/thriller. Twilight takes this premise and goes One Tree Hill with it. NOPE!! Fifty Shades of Grey is worse. You have a naive college student who attracts the attention of a billionaire with some unique quirks in the bedroom. Again, interesting premise. You can go a couple different ways with this: 1. Suspense/thriller as Anastasia realizes just how bad her situation is and works to untangle herself from the web Christian weaves. 2. Full-on erotica. No plot, no extra shenanigans. Just setup, ooh-la-la, and conclusion. But NO.

He loves us very much to subject himself to this.

"Love" As much as I hate to say it, yes. If only because twilight (in its bass ackwards way) is actually about people falling in love. This monstrosity is not, and dann anyone misled or stupid enough to think otherwise.

Someone finally did it

I heard this book was all the wrong and worse things that could happen in a BDSM relationship. The guy isolated the girl, he acted possessively over her like some twisted freak who's mindset was "you're mine and nobody else's" and there was verbal abuse. There was no aftercare, no safewords, no boundaries set. The guy even stalked the girl and yet this was romanticized. Twilight was bad but Fifty Shades was awful!

I would say no. Its not a worse story than Twilight. For ONE reason. Hear me out. Its very similar to Twilight in the sense that both Bella and Ana are love-smitten twats who have NO character of their own, no chemistry with their respective lovers, not a single ounce of charm or self-worth. (Bella actually seems more smitten with Jacob than her sparkly immortal sweetness considering the only time she cracks a smile during her wedding is when she sees JACOB and not Edward.) They are both sugar coated bubbles of nothingness. HOWEVER....they do have one more thing in common. They both get unexpectedly pregnant. The reason why I say 50 Shades is better than Twilight is this event happened in the last book in each series respectively. When Bella realizes that she is pregnant, Edward's IMMEDIATE response is "we are killing this baby". Doesn't give Bella a say in this AT ALL....even though she's the mother of this child. Doesn't let her have a vote or respect her feelings. No. Just....this MONSTER has to die. And then Bella aligns herself with Rosalie of all people and she's willing to KILL HERSELF to prove a point to Edward. She just sits there and lets this baby literally suck the life out of her. And not only is she willing to die for this baby, she's willing to LIE to her father....to basically shatter Charlie's heart by creating this story that she died on her honeymoon and she is willing never to see him or her mom or her friends again and the sick part is, she has it all worked out that its for THEIR best interest that she does this. All for the sake of this ridiculous love story she has with Edward. At least with Anastasia, when she learned that she was pregnant with Christian's child, yes Christian acted like a selfish twat about it, and went off to get drunk with his ex mistress but she handled it like an adult. She took responsibility for her mistake (not taking her shot) and she was willing to accept this child and take responsibility even if it wasn't what she wanted. She stood up to him for the sake of her child LIKE AN ADULT and it was the ONLY time during the entire damn trilogy that I respected her character.

When Dominic Noble finished the review for Fifty Shades Freed (he did all three main novels and their film adaptations), he lit a cigar, then burned Freed on a cookout grill. While I was disappointed by the cigar, the book in flames and crumbling to ash was weirdly captivating.

@@KrimsonRogue This might sound horrifying, but actually FIVE of these (to my knowledge) got published by her. The original 50 Shades of Grey trilogy....but then she went back and wrote at least two more books....from Christian's perspective. And they are equally as bad. Maybe worse.

I always go for a nice and bloody Warhammer 40k novel. Best way to counter act the over abundance of mindless, thoughtless, tasteless Estrogen that is Twilight/Fifty Shades.

I follow the Dom too (both here on RU-vid and Twitter) and apparently, he had such a huge calling for reading and reviewing the next book, that he is considering it. Whether or not he will is something up for debate.

Leileya Night I personally don’t want him too. He tortured himself enough with three videos on it. Three was enough. And I now know to avoid that series like the plague.

In high school, there was a girl who had the book on her desk and I said to her "Enjoying your read of 50 Shades of Ass" In hindsight, that was weird to say. But I am a girl and I think 50 shades is a pile of horse shit.
