I just got a shiny dialga yesterday after 22188 srs in platinum.

I used the void glitch to access New Moon Island. I hunted Darkrai off and on last year, and I ended up finding shiny Darkrai on my birthday. Unlike most hunters, I don't count resets/encounters because I'm scatterbrained as well as distracted by multiple screens, so I'm not sure how many total encounters it was. However, it was my first Darkrai encounter of my birthday. Also, it got Modest nature and is Mischievous. I feel like it was karma for breeding a 6IV shiny Pawniard for my friend for his birthday and actually parting with it after seeing it was 6IV lol. Anyway, good luck with your hunts.

Every night I go to bed crying and pray to God and His Holy Mother that Dallas will stream his hunts. I never ask Him for world peace, for the end to child hunger, nor for true love and eternal happiness... all of those things pale in comparison to Dallas streams. I'm writing this plea as I make another blood sacrifice in hopes that He will hear my cries. cool hat btw

Make sure to be careful if you hunt Weezing with the double encounters! I actually failed a Shiny Weezing like that (it was mostly my fault) but still, there are a few ways to fail like Lava Plume from Magcargo burning the shiny (thats what happened to me) or Earthquake/Lava Plume killing one of the 5% low-leveled pokemon. And Selfdestruct/Explosion of course.

Darkrai was released and even then you can use the void glitch to get to it in diamond and pearl

Dallas, inteed of hacking you can do the void glitch. Its a bit complicated but there are tutorials for several event pokemon. In my opinion its better then hacking.

I got shiny Palkia on Pearl after about a month and failed it, then recaptured it after 3 months. The reaction and heartbeat was priceless :)

I got 40 shinies in 2017. I even got a first encounter shiny Mudkip( and Mudkip is my buddy) a few days ago and it was such a surprise because I didn’t even mean for it to be shiny. I was gonna breed for dusk lycanroc and I had to do 1 Mudkip egg from the hunt I was doing before because I forgot to take back the marshtomp in the daycare. I screamed oh my gosh so loud my sister thought that someone broke into the house.

I wondered the same thing about why people wear a night cap to bed. The reason is because most heat escapes from your head and feet. So if you sleep with a hat and socks, you'll be warmer :D

Nice list. I'm currently playing Crystal on the VC and I actually did find a shiny HootHoot on Route 32! I've evolved it into Noctowl and I freaking love it.

We have an awful lot of targets in common lol. Most importantly, though, hopefully we can both find our Lucha Bird this year! I, personally, am on phase 10 for it and I can still recall when you first busted out that mask. Best of luck, bud!

I’m still soft resetting for a shiny Rowlet starter in Ultra Moon. I’m 2150 in so far and I’m losing my mind. What did you do when you were hunting Rowlet in Sun/Moon to keep you from going insane? I’m hoping to hunt Spiritomb at some point this year too!

I hope you get a decent portion of these shinies this year! I started shiny hunting during the summer and I got about 25, mostly in XY. I'd like to do more full odds hunt but I don't quite have _that_ much free time. Hoping to hunt Celebi in Crystal and try out that 1/64 breeding trick too.

Bro! First ever shiny was a surprise encounter Loudred I evolved on my OG Ruby cartridge before I knew shinies were a thing. It and many other nostalgia Pokémon are hanging out on my Y cartridge now. Good luck with getting your own!

I have a question for you since you seem so knowledgeable, can you soft reset for a shiny starter in sapphire if the battery is dead? I've heard it said you can and can't and I wanted a conclusive answer

Nice plan! The only things currently on my list are Poipole (been SRing for over a month for it), Cottonee and Whimsicott (Sun exclusives, I mostly hunt in Moon and Ultra Moon), and the Ultra Beasts I am missing. Which is all of them except for Guzzlord.

Loved the video! I think I might produce a list too, starting with Articuno and Moltres to go with my newly captured Zapdos in Fire Red (that you favourited my tweet of!!). Koffing might well be in there and my hunt for Dialga is paused at 14k so I’ll pick that back up too.

Loudret was my first shiny! I found it in the friend safari, but I had no idea it was reduced odds so I was really hyped!

This year I’m planning on getting a few R4s and hunting in Sacred Gold and Volt White 2. I’m also planning on doing a poke stop hunt, unlocking victini, a lot of double grass hunts and the Ditto side quests!

Can you soft reset for dratini in hg/ss besides gamecorner. ? Its a gift pokemon from an old guy in the dragon trial thing the claire makes you do , or is it shiny locked ?

Haven't got around to Island Scan hunting and can't figure out the repel trick so lots of those mons will be on my wait list too. Miltank is hell lmao, I remember trying to make it call Tauros for my dex and it took forever and only called about 3 allies in well over 200 turns

I hunted for shiny Shaymin in Platinum not long ago and it was quite a long hunt, but I eventually got it after 9,983 run-aways. Shaymin is my favorite Pokémon, so I’m glad it got to be my first real shiny hunt. Hope you have more luck with it though!

This was a really cool trip down memory lane. I'm lucky enough to have been able to receive all the shiny events from Gen 4, as I actually went to VGC regional championships in 2009 and 2010. I still have my Shiny Milotic and 2 Shiny Eevees from the events, and I still look back on them with fond memories from both events. Milotic was given out with strange looking GBA distribution carts that the officials would put in their own special DS's (and you'd give your platinum cart to them to get the distribution). The next year, Shiny Eevee was just done as a wireless event at the venue for HG or SS games, so you could just download them as many times as you want. I honestly want to go to another VGC tournament sometime, I just wish they would be held in places closer to where I live. :P

The Darkrai event was released, I actually held onto the Member's Pass for the longest time, never going to catch it. Once I started to get into shiny hunting, I remembered I still had it available to me. The night I found shiny Darkrai, after probably only 500 resets, I had actually accidentally reset over shiny Lugia in Soul Silver earlier that day. Lugia took a over month to reclaim resetting every day at any possible moment.

I stumbled on a shiny Staryu in ORAS. I was just trying to register it in my Pokedex and it was shiny with a perfect ability, nature, and nearly perfect IVs. I love it so much.

i just started shiny hunting recently, and have already had great luck! in 2017, i got a shiny mareep in HGSS, shiny alolan raichu and shiny alolan marowak, and a shiny sylveon!

I finished up most of my hunts in December last year. I just really hope that the celebi in the crystal vc release isn't shiny locked. Nothing would make me happier then to have a legit shiny celebi.

Because you mentioned Staryu, I had just failed at catching a Sandygast in Ultra Sun for my team, only to have a shiny Staryu pop up when I soft reset to try again. So I DID stumble upon a shiny Staryu, like you thought you would.

Any event Pokemon in gen 4 that is obtained by a special item needs to have the wonder card of that item. You can do wonder card sharing to get the azure flute properly. I did it myself to start hunting Darkrai

I hope one day you do a gen 3 ditto hunt too, there's not enough of those up on youtube and the sprite is the best imo. Plus gen 3 ditto is cool since it transforms into shiny versions of the pokemon which I miss in later gens!

Props for not hunting Dialga and Palkia in the wormholes! I'm seeing so many wormhole legendaries that it's starting to drive me a little crazy!

You can sr for darkrai and shaymin in d/p by void glitching. Also you can find arceus like that from d/p , not sure if you can hunt it though.

I'm still hunting for shiny Litten (as my Ultra Sun starter) so I guess that's a 2018 hunt now XD

I got a shiny Electabuzz in Sun and Moon while I was hunting for it's pre-evolution. Took me at least 50 SOS encounters

I actually got shiny Vulpix in 2017, Kitsune the Ninetales is chilling \o/ Lickitung I got as a random encounter in Pokemon X's Victory Road, which was probably way before. The rest? I might just join you on some of these, Shinx and Ditto for sure!

you can get darkrai without an action replay by using void glitch in diamond version, If you do it in diamond version specifically and get it to level 50 and make it forget pursuit, you can transfer it to sun and moon!

I want to hear your story about trying to hunt Shaymin! I tried to hunt Shaymin for awhile and I gave up but I'm still saved in front of it. :)

Curious as to why hack to get Darkrai. Glitches are a thing too. And you can get to Darkrai via glitches. And maybe Arceus too?
