Thank you so much for all of these ideas. I also have a "strangers on the street" prayer habit. Every time I see someone driving a motorcycle, I automatically pray for their safety. It stems from my youth when my mother was an ER nurse and told us of the tragedies. I will now apply some of your other wonderful ideas!
I’m happy you enjoyed the ideas! Yes it’s such a good habit, there is so much power in our prayers and especially a good habit for those on motorcycles for sure!! I’m gonna start doing that aswell instead of only when seeing EMS or accidents!
When reading a devotional or daily verse on an app, try to read the surrounding verses as well. It won’t take much longer and will help prevent taking verses out of context. Also look into the authors of devotionals and other Christian books. Not all “Christian” writers and speakers are biblical. Whoever you read or listen to, check what they say against what scripture actually says. Make sure your time with God isn’t also being spent reading or listening to any false teachers.
Hey Kristen! I absolutely agree, I guess I misspoke on the video if I didn’t say it but I pretty much never read just a single verse, I will always look for context as I study ☺️ and I would advise everyone to do the same. For sure I agree with what you said about authors etc, at the end of the day that devotional was a gift and was given to me as a gentle way to bring scripture in to my life when I was actually completely atheist haha. God worked through it regardless of who wrote it and for that I’m so thankful ☺️ but again I totally agree that it’s very important to keep our eyes peeled for false teaching and stay sharp in our knowledge of the Word alone ☺️
This is actually the only devotional I’ve read by her or anything, haven’t actually even listened to a sermon from her before but after these comments I’ll look into it a lot deeper!! Thankyou!
I love to study the Bible, writing down along the margins of my journaling Bible, I highlight words that stick and look up definitions, context, prayers, summary & commentary. I enjoy Bible devotionals like a soap style.
I do manual labor for my job so there's not alot of thinking involved in doing it so most of the time I'm just talking to God or leaning on him to get through the day
That’s awesome!! I have a friend who does the same thing and tells me the coolest stories of the revelations he gets from God in just a normal work day ☺️ I think it’s a privilege for sure to be able to get that time with him daily!
So my church has groups that people can join. From groups for marriage, or hiking. It's a great way to meet people and make the church feel smaller and to also build community. There are Bible study groups, finance groups, groups for single people , groups for divorced, etc. I love anime so I joined a Jesus and Anime group where we relate concepts in anime☺️ back to the bible. We also fellowship and just do things together like seeing a movie, or going out to eat
