Phaetus dragon UHF? I put one on my ender 3 and it’s been running really reliably between 10-25mm^3/s with the extension nut removed. I know it’s way overkill for a bed slinger like this but I love it and it’s been printing great. I bought it when my printer was down and have been designing and printing mounts for the phaetus while using the phaetus. I absolutely love your toolhead how you left the hotend exposed because it’s a really good looking piece that deserves to be shown off. I’m trying to come up with a lightweight way to keep it cool with an acrylic/PC front window. Would love to see more vids on the phaetus dragon uhf, there doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of videos on it out there. I am a big fan of the reinforced heat block for one handed nozzle changes.

Still have to do some tuning yet, but these speeds will likely NOT be my default printing profile.

@@oldguymeltsplastic I'm still working on a PA issue we with mine. At 200mm/s and 10k accel the bulge is still present. Ive tried everything. I'll probably open up a help ticket. Volcomosq hotend with mellow HF break.

Dang!! She's a speedy one that's for sure. Can't wait to see some photos of that cube. The K3 seems like such a solid platform.

It's not the best quality at this speed. Good enough for prototyping parts though.

Did you add legs to the free ends of the cooling fans because they were flapping at those speeds? I want to build a K3 real bad!
@oldguymeltsplastic
@oldguymeltsplastic 5 месяцев назад
No, I remixed the fan mounts to have a mount spot for a neopixel on either side of the hotend.

watching my poor lil ender 3 print slow af while watching this hurts me, my 11g print takes 2 hours :(
@oldguymeltsplastic

The Voron Switchwire conversions take an Ender 3 as a base, and turns them into a very capable bedslinger. Won't quite match the K3 for pure speed, but it's the most economical path to getting into the Voron Ecosystem.

Stock Ender 3 motion system can keep up with 1g/min at good quality. There's no need to mess with it, especially not making the X belt long and introducing slop by coupling it with Z. You just need good extrusion system and tuned input shaper.

looks good mine should be here tomorrow. Try turning up the SCV should run much faster
@oldguymeltsplastic
@oldguymeltsplastic 7 месяцев назад
This was at 30 SCV. Bumping it up to 80 SCV only dropped the print time by 30 seconds, and introduced some additional print artifacts that I didn't want to deal with.
@printingprinters8490
@printingprinters8490 7 месяцев назад
Only 30 seconds. Not worth it then seemed to bump it up more for me but i didn't do a comparison with that particular model. And as far as artifacts are concerned just print in cf and pretend nothings wrong like everyone else ; )@@oldguymeltsplastic

@@oldguymeltsplasticPast 30 scv is not worth much. It just needs to be at least about 1/20 of your max speed not to interfere with high speed traversal of arcs.

The cooling seens enough?

Yes, the two part cooling fans are HoneyBadger 12V 4010s from Fabreeko. Loud, but push a good amount of air.

May i ask few questions? At that high accel how is the ringing being handled? Its a 48v setup yes? And is this a goliath toolhead ? What extruder is this? And most importantly how did you acheve 48mm^3 foow rate
@oldguymeltsplastic
@oldguymeltsplastic 7 месяцев назад
I am using a modified Dragon UHF. To be fair, although I still have some tuning to complete, at these speeds I am not expecting to produce a high quality part, but rather one that is "good enough" for some functional parts and/or rapid prototyping, where the visual quality of the part is less important. XY Motors are LDO 2804s powered at 24V. And this is using.PLA at 200C/60C.
@justincasey9730
@justincasey9730 7 месяцев назад
But how's the quality?
@oldguymeltsplastic
@oldguymeltsplastic 7 месяцев назад
These speeds aren't about a perfect quality print, but can shave quite a lot of print time off for functional parts where visual print quality is less of a concern. Setting up a slicer profile for speed, and another for quality means you can easily choose how good or fast you want your job to print.
