for the AWD system to work, you need power. its one of the first habits you need to break when you drive an evo, when you think you should let off, it really means more power. the awd system needs power to put TQ where it needs to be. no power, no S-AWD. the whole reason for S-AWD is the mid corner problem with evo 9's. a 9 will kill you if you're hard mid corner and let off. the X is a lot more forgiving, and is much better at low speed direction changes, when the "S" part of the AYC is noticeable.
you sir, know wtf you're talking about. It's all in that S-AWC screen when you hit the info button. Those curved lines represent rotation the line on the middle represents power bias front to back.
Dang, your Evil Evo is TIGHT! Is that color factory, P26 Rally Red? It looks deeper and darker. Perfectly put together and well thought out, I am impressed!
No wing Evos are very aggressive and clean. No one removes the wing because they hate the wing, all Evo lovers LOVE the wing, but there is something special about a wingless X.
You pretty much know an evo will handle without ever driving it. Even stock they are monsters. The HP part can catch you off guard especially when you are told they are 2.0 4 bangers.
Obviously you cannot partial throttle on the car. The only power source is the FP Red, so without anti-lag you are either not in boost or under full boost.
+Chandler Bingham I don't claim to be an expert but most often bigger turbo cars will run rough under partial throttle because the ecu tune is switching from closed loop to open loop (or visa versa). Open loop is when the ecu is not reading the o2 sensor for a/f readouts. It takes countless hours to tune a car to the full potential in order to dial in that change from closed to open and get get the full rpm and load range of the fuel maps dialed in. It’s even harder when the turbo’s spool quickly like Brandon’s FP Red. This is why the car needed to switch over quickly- thus full throttle, or no throttle. 1 Quick Question Does this 4B11 has stock internals? Doesnt 4B11s blow up easily compare to 4G63? I want to mod the X around 400WHP with constant track days, will the stock internals do?
Had to chuckle a bit when the owner said these were reliable. Theyre very nice but reliability is not how I would classify an Evo, especially one with 500+ wHP
480whp on stock internals? Wow. What does it rev to? I need to drive this car. I have a similar set up on mine, but with a CBRD full ported ball bearing turbo and stock cams. Mine (which has stock internals) only makes about 400 whp and 340 lb.-ft. I really need to drive this car to see if I should switch my turbo and buy cams or maybe just cams.
How do the US tuners get such big power uk tuners scared to push past 370-380 bhp -360 ft ibs on stock rods are they really that weak and feeble ? I want 400-400 in my car but no one here will push it
The higher your power output, the stronger the internals have to be. Not all stock internals were designed to withstand so much power in the first place. Also, peak power isn't everything, usable power is more important. No point having 600 horses if you can't use most/all of it anytime you want to drive hard.
Clearly the Ben that is in the passenger seat does not feel very comfortable he does not want to experience the Paul Walker effect you could do a little picture in picture in the passenger seat of him explaining what it feels like after the effect or put it on his face as like a TV as his face that be better
+Gears and Gasoline I know, I'm a die hard mustang lover but love the 4 door that can move since I'm newlywed and kids can't be far away. ppl know mustangs all a staple of speed in any generation at multiple price points.
+Jay Semple there actually isn't much more than a few grand in that engine bay and you would be spending quite a lot more to try and make WHP in a naturally aspirated engine. On the other hand though, if you have the money yes that v8 can produce more power but you can't just have power, AWD in the evo gives instant grip without the need of beefy track tires or weight distribution mods. Mustangs are not typically cheap to boost and keep planted.
+Terry Wiensch the Mustang doesn't have to be boosted to be fast or make good power. and mustangs from 2011 and beyond are plenty planted. ppl hold previous mustangs lack of being good cars against the great vehicles they build now. current gts are better track performers than the BMW m3 according to motortrend. a mark the stock Evo hasn't achieved.
Lmao! Hurt the average mustang's feelings?! You fool, it cost so much more to upgrade an Evo than it does to upgrade a mustang. Plus, EVOs cost more to begin with. Got a brand new 2012 mustang gt for $25k Got a brand new 2014 Evo X gsr for $30,999k These are both base models and with some good bargaining. I can slap on a supercharger on the 5.0 and make crazy power and stay California's smog legal. I need to make a lot more upgrades to get power out of the EVO and it will cost more. But I don't regret getting my Evo. I'm happy I kept my stang though because it is faster on a straight. The mpg on the Evo is horrible compared to the mustang. My 5.0 is my official gas saver compared to the Evo. Lol
Had a 2015 mustang gt. Traded it in for a 2015 evo fe 8 months later. Wife wouldn't talk to me for a week... Spent $2500 between intercooler, intake, mbc, hfc, catback and a tune. I get 23mpg vs 17 from the 5.0. It's faster than my gt was. You can get a baseline mustang with a rouchcharger for $40k here. Yeah, it's a little faster for the $8k you spend on the blower. I'm ordering a blouch dom2.0 xtr for $2300+injectors+fuel pump+ o2 housing and I'm still under $8k and right about where the rouchcharger is. You'll spend about the same on both cars to reach those power levels. Plus... Dawg... How many evos to mustangs do you see ;)
+cirielmd What state you in? Cali is crazy strict on emissions. I can "legally" slap on a supercharger on the stang and not have to worry about smog. With the EVO, I would have some issues passing smog here. The 2015 stang is slower than the previous gen (2011-2014). They added 200 lbs (IRS) and didn't add enough hp to balance that out. I'm not sure how the hell you are getting better mpg in the Evo X. Lol. Is it the tune? Just look at both cars mpg rating. The stang has better mpg. Mine is rated 17/26 I believe. Maybe 2015 is different. Yeah, you don't see many EVOs. I get super pumped when I run into another Evo. Lol. Looks like you have some serious upgrades coming up. Im really happy for you man. Already upgrading turbo!! That's sweet. Did you do the work for the first list of mods of yourself? Or did you pay someone. I'm gonna have to pay for labor because I don't know anything about working on cars. I don't have many tools either. Lol
I live in Ohio. I think emissions are by county and most of Ohio has done away with them. Stop and go traffic I get about 19. Hw or longer trips I'm getting 23 ish. I don't go around boosting it the whole time though. Tune helps since it was running super rich factory. After owning a 2006 mr, I decided to have most of the work done by people who have tools lol. The $80/hr labor is more worth the time savings and knowing it's put on correctly. I imagine in Cali it would be tough to be legal. Although Mitsubishi has a factory replacement MHI turbo, it might be possible to retune it to make emissions ? I think earlier X's we're a little rough on the fuel and they may have improved that a bit over time. My wife and I count the number of Porsches to evos out here, for fun. There's less evos than any Porsche model out here. So it's definitely something to run into another owner. Occasionally, even a subie will wave too.
You are lucky. Cali is crazy strict on guns and emissions. I contemplate moving out so that sometimes but I don't think I would make as much as in other states. I have to check the pay in other states for nurses... I should have researched emissions before I bought the Evo. That is one thing that didn't really cross my mind since with the stang I know that there are smog legal ways to add power. I figured since it was a turbo car, swapping out a turbo with a better one wouldn't be an issue. I've read about a few people having smog issues on forums. I just don't feel like having any issues like that. I'm kind of bummed because my goals were to get it to 500 who. Lol. That is not gonna happen anymore. People with that much lower have to do a whole lot of prep work to pass emissions here. Sucks!! That's why I'm thinking about just upgrading my stang first. I might end up selling the Evo. Not sure yet. Happy to hear you are getting good mpg. I'm always boosting. Lol. But I'm always on it on the stang as well and still get better mpg on the stang. Yeah, EVOs are super rare. Btw, can your wife drive the gsr? I tried teaching my wife and everyone I smell the clutch!! She just can't seem to get it.
gentlemonsterkennels You just compared the price of a 2012 Mustang.... To a 2 year newer Evo of course the fucking Evo is gonna be more expensive dumbass. Also neither at this point are "brand new" they're both used cars...
