@@thepeatboggyNo sir. Goliath in the Bible was "6 cubits and a span". That's over 9'6" ...... A 1/2ft taller than Robert Wadlow the "Illinois Giant". Google pics for perspective.
agreed but i think theyre still quite similar lifts even with the difference. Halfthor had a sniff of smelling salts which elevates consciousness, and almost certainly allows you to lift more weight. Which honestly in my opinion makes the lift less impressive than it would have been without ammonia like eddie's. Still both great lifts tho!
Eddie's been chasing at thor's heels his entire career but never could be better than him. Even his 2017 win was highly controversial and he immediately took his ball and went home whereas thor kept going like a true champion. Brian Shaw better than both though
It kind of annoys me how much people dismiss this lift, because it "wasnt in competition".... who cares? He lifted more weight, period. What does it matter what the setting is as long as the weights are real and he didn't cheat? Like I get it, lifting weight in a competition is more difficult, there's more pressure, more pressure from the crowd, and it's less controlled of a setting... but last time I checked the measure isn't who can lift the most weight under the most difficult circumstances... the measure is who can lift the most weight, period.. and that would be Thor. Unless you think he somehow cheated or used fake weights or something but clearly he didn't.
Obvious circus act. He's not gonna go on national TV and have millions watching him on the internet if he was going to fail and ESPN wouldn't have a 1 hour broadcast for this crap if they didn't know. There's something not right about this at all. It isn't legit unless you do it in competition, there was something dirty going on here.
It looked mid diff effort, which is insane. I was expecting to see him huffing and puffing, turning red, veins bulging, but nope. He probably could've done more.
@cygnusprime6728 dawg he did it in his home gym and his dad is the one who "certified" the plate weights. If that's not biased idk what is, especially seeing as he only broke the previous record by 2 lbs. People defending this is crazy
Kinda insane seeing what a 6’9 tower of muscle looks like when he’s standing against the backboard, before lifting. The dude is literally larger than life. I’m surprised humans can even get that big lol
I don’t know what’s funnier. That he lifted 1 more kilo than Eddie, just to piss him off Or that Eddie nearly broke down. Used a psychologist that taught him how to visualize someone doing really nasty stuff to his kid , so that he would get an inner rage/adrenaline boost. Nose bleed like crazy. And passed out afterwards. While This monster just came , screamed , lifted , celebrated and retired to boxing . What a freaking real life Viking
Eddie almost died lifting 500 kg wich means that lifting more than 500 kg is a death wish, then you have Hafthor lifting 501 kg and standing on his legs, and walk away with some skin wound on his legs that's impressive yes its only 1 kg difference, but it's still 501 kg i would love to see Eddie try to lift 501 kg but he's afraid of dying.
The 500Kg lift comfortably retired Eddie Hall. Thor is probably going to go on to lift 510Kg without a suit. Strongest man to ever walk the Earth and we're living at the same time as him. Let that sink in. Of all humans EVER to walk the Earth and he's here among us, right now.
I respect both eddie and thor. I couldnt imagine lifting 501 let alone 500. So huge respect to both dudes for the absolute determination and willpower to do this.
It’s a bit suspicious ain’t it? I mean I don’t mean to doubt him but yea seeing how 500kg effected Eddie Hall even to this day and Thor here just gets up and is even more hyped than when he lifted the weight is just crazy too believe for me. Anyone who’s done deadlifts, and heavy weight know how physically draining the exercise is
@@MUNDOM316 Seeing how Thor smashed the elephant bar record at arnolds and made that look easy ... a weight that Hall couldn't do ... I wonder why you would write a comment that length questioning Thors SMASHING of Fat Eddie Halls brief record.
Hey I mean as you know Michael Phelps’ records were all done in his pool in his backyard with his mom timing him and Usain Bolt’s records were all at the local park near my house with his dad timing him. Oh wait they weren’t they were actually done in competition where they should be. Crazy.
Everyone also forgets the fact hafthor's half a foot taller (6'9" barefoot). It's way more impressive for someone this tall to be able to have this much strength, and he's had it for a decade too, just got way stronger than before when he was younger. I've heard those who have longer arms than most ppl (obviously tall ppl) have issues with lifting heavy weighs due to more range of motion or length or something like that. Hafthor pretty much crushes that
But why are we gatekeeping lifting now? Planet fitness is a super cheap option for getting into lifting. Sure they don’t have the heaviest weights (most i’ve seen is 75 pound dumbbells and smith machines with all the plates you need) but thats kinda their whole thing.
They didn't, there's not much of those, just a few salty eddie fans. This lift is officially sanctioned and recognized by every major strongman organisation
@@juannaym8488 Basically comes back to it being done in a home gym and not in front of an audience - it was during COVID lockdown. I believe this was technically a sanctioned competition, and Magnus Ver Magnusson was there to sanction the lift and weigh the weights to make sure nothing dodgy was happening. However, I don't believe there was anyone else there from the federation to referee the event. Eddie Hall basically influenced a lot of people to call the lift unofficial because of that. However, there have been other strongman records broken in home gyms, ie Tom Stoltman broke the Atlas Stone world record in his home gym during lock down and nobody questions that. What I think is that Eddie was dark with Thor about how he carried on about 2017 WSM; saying that he was robbed and made it into a conspiracy about how they fixed the events so Eddie could win. Which I think is utter rubbish - Eddie won fair and square, but Thor did act like a giant man child and I think Eddie (rightfully so) took offence to it. That's the long and short of it. Now you know.
@@pursuitforspeed i absolutely refuse to believe he did this and there was nothing fishy the simple fact when eddie did this he basically almost died and this dude looks like he could rep it 10 more times every one else ive seen dead lift 500kg looks like they are half dead inside while this dude looks and acts perfectly fine? i just cant believe its real and about the atlas stone i imagine its harder to fake that then a couple fake weights but im no professional 🤷♂
@@Jesus_is_THE_king_of_kingsIm pretty certain he felt pretty bad after this lift, he just acted like he was good to spite eddie. If you remember in the beef before doing this he told eddie that he wasnt gonna collapse like eddie because hes not weak like him and some other bs
Thor was able to interview right after it took days for eddie to recover. He was on a stretcher after his lift with a team of doctors and hooked on ventilators lol such a puss
@@TF-mn1wo At the end of the day it's nice to have their probably pre determined scale weigh the plates, but it's better to have other competitors verify the weight themselves.
Thor could probably pull another 10-15kg on top of that if he wanted to. But as many others have said, the result is not worth the end. He was heavy enough as it was, needed no more trouble breathing etc.
@@Elogamer15 wouldnt say its that common, especially under 200kg... Yes when it starts to get real heavy then it happens but most people pulling 200kg or less aren't right up against the legs
Thor: "Not only did I pull this incredible weight I also feel great afterwards you know standing here tall feeling good no injuries" Eddie Hall has left the chat.

@@ajjones4618 and after all of that eddie said couple days ago that he could lift 520 or more than that , what a joke , eddie has biggest ego in this sport
@Earl Rogers In 2018 Thor won the world strongest, europe strongest and arnold classic. Eddie Hall is not in the same league as legends like Brian Shaw, Magnus Ver, Jon Páll, Kazmaier and Thor.
I was a woman when I clicked on this video. Now I have a full grown beard, a benchpress diary and an estranged wife who wants to divorce me for all I own. I want to smash things. Arrr.
Except Eddie couldn’t breathe during that interview almost collapsed and was near death after the competition lol where as Thor celebrates with his buddies and calls out Eddie to a boxing match.
Thor was able to interview right after it took days for eddie to recover. He was on a stretcher after his lift with a team of doctors and hooked on ventilators lol such a puss
Fake lift. Thor had a bar that was longer than Eddie's. And that is a HUGE difference . A longer bar is an easier lift. i.imgur.com/zgZfGA8.png Prove it at the arena.
@@aleksuher2847 Eddie kept the weight up for seconds and didn't get to chose the moment and the environment he had to lift the weight in. Thor did it in his own gym, at his chosen moment. Not like Eddy with 10k people watching him life. That's a different kind of pressure.
@@nkosev Damn dude, that's probably the best reason of why Eddie Hall will always be THE legend for that performance, you're damn right, nobody thought this was possible before he did it. Best comment
No blood from his ears or nose after lift, no breathlessness as he screams out afterwards... I love Eddie but he will never beat a man of this size! Dudes a giant!
lol amazing thor was able to interview right after it took days for eddie to recover. He was on a stretcher after his lift with a team of doctors and hooked on ventilators lol such a puss
Black Eden Eddie knew he couldn’t compete to this level of genetics. Thor is a freak of nature and has the perfect genetics and size stats for this type of thing. Eddie was just a strong dude from stoke. He knew he had to battle just to be anywhere near. Where it’s more natural for these guys. But Eddie kick started this level of competition in the deadlift, he was the first and he was at his absolute limit. Now we will move forward and lifts will gradually get higher. But Eddie will always be known as the man that set the bar so high.
@@kendalk08 lifting half a ton is lifting half a ton at the end of the day, doesn't matter if it was in the presence of the Queen or if it was at his grandma garage 😂.
I would really like to see Thor and Eddie work things out and become friends. They are 2 of the strongest men to have ever lived. They have nothing to prove to anyone. It’s sad to know there’s so much animosity between these 2 greats. I love watching Brian, Eddie Nick and Robert. It seems like they truly get along and like each other
Naah, Eddie and Brian works, cause Brian is the most humble giant there will ever be and Eddie is a dickhead that makes fun of everything. Thor would be like putting mustard on sweets. Someone making fun of everything and someone that dont know what fun is, damn thats just dangerous
They are civil now, they settled their differences and squashed the beef after that boxing match. I mean they aren’t exactly buddies but there is no more animosity between them any more.
Thor is a complete d bag compared to all of those guys including Robert. They may be civil but all the strong dudes know his character, they're all just far too nice to actually say anything. Otherwise you'd see him in all the RU-vid Vids , they don't want him there...
@@MafiaRecordingPL Let's be real here, even a 5kg jump at this weiht is utterly massive. Even adding that 1kg is already far more at this weight than many people make it out to be. These increases however are no comparison to a 30kg increase. Considering that Thor still had energy left in his tank, he would have most likely destroyed 505 and maybe even 510. As for a future competition 520 might happen too. But it seems too early for 530. At the end of the day, I could be wrong too however
Thor needs to do 536 because eddie broke the world record by 35kg after breaking the world record once on the same day. One does not simply break a world deadlift record twice in one day by a 35kg gap. Untill Thor does greater than that, Eddie Hall will always be better. No offense, lifting 500+ is always welcomed.
@@frencusmcguire8547 That´s the most idiotic comment ever XD You fanboy want the man to lift 600KG and still will be complaining about how your dehydrated God was better
It would have been detrimental to a Viking to be this size. 3 months on the seas on a boat are tough. Nature doesn't like extremes. But nice fantasy, you can play it when the new Assassins Creed comes out.
I mean its only 1kg heavier than Eddie Hall if its indeed genuine, now dont get me wrong i do believe Thor can lift this but hes rivalry towards Eddie after WSM 2017 just made him petty
luke g are you stupid? Go watch eddie’s. Great pull but he really struggled through that one, not the mention he practically almost passed out immediately after
@luke g he was struggling to lock out..didnt even locked out 100 prcnt bt still refree gave it to him..thor locked out way easier than eddie nd was too perfect
Yeah but Eddie did it 4 years ago going from 465 to 500. That's a massive jump in one night. Remember how much Thor was deadlifting whilst Eddie was around - quite some way behind. Thor has gradually periodised his training over the last 2 years (look at his elephant bar attempts the last couple of years) to reach this comfortably. Thor definitely has more to give now though, agree there. Wish the beef between the 2 would end though.
