Turbo 50cc test run on a Minarelli AM6 engine in a dyno jet. A Boost Busters and www.twostroke.se 50 cc engine project. Malossi, Dellorto, Barikit & MVT parts
eh.. I see people getting 13+hp naturally aspirated 2 stroke 50cc. I thought a turbo would do more honestly. Pretty sure a 70cc big bore, with a lot of N/A tuning could break 20hp. Right now, on my side bar there's an 86cc dynoing 22.99HP. Turbo 2 stroke is cool, but if that's all it can manage, it seems like a lot of weight and stuff to break, for relatively small gains. There's a dude on youtube right now who's in the process of a 20HP goal 50cc 2 stroke build. Naturally aspirated, of course.
20 hp is a nice baseline pull, now put some boost on it. there's a bonneville bike with a am6 50cc metrakit with a turbo, I believe they are also running a bit more than 20 hp, but that can be made without a turbo.
That's not alot.. a simple minarelli kit from Polini does 18hp on 50cc; Stage6 does 27hp on 70cc. Thus I would advise to simply advise to use a bigger displacement if you can (rules etc).
DEFINETELY dont wanna start a troll thread or anything but more power doesnt nessasarily mean efficent, i mean for all we know it could be on 115 octane race gas and burn 2 gallons per mile lol. Now if there was a 2 stroke with vavles instead of timed ports in the cylinder walls... thatd be something awesome to turbo.
Pressure at intake is also present before the turbine. I.e at the exhaust port. Thats static pressure. Has nothing to do with pressure wavs from pipe. P1T/P2c ratio is allimportant
@mony chem yes lookup 2 stroke turbo Ski Doo I also have a couple of thease turbos brand new for sale it's the smallest turbos they make as a matter of fact I just sold 2 of them now my Pay Pal alert went off as I was sending this message lol
making power is easy.. making a solid engine isnt. This engine will not run very long before it blows. My Rm 250 2 stroke has 55 hp and IT is a reliable strong 2 stroke engine. 3rd year on the same piston and she is always revving high.
Agreed! I'd love to try it on a RG250. I'm sure there's videos floating around somewhere with a guy who turbo'd an RD 350, I saw it years ago on Facebook but I've never found it since.
why would you turbocharge a 2 stroke? There arent any valves to hold pressure, and it would just blow unburnt fuel through the engine faster, making it more inefficent... and less power then if there wasnt a turbo...
These guys are trying to kill.themselves and the record for fastest Motored bicycle in the world, I'm scared to even watch the video of its performing.
it's a 50cc, you fool, 50cc's only make around 5hp, geting 20hp out of a 50cc engine is a super result.. look at his 125cc's video: it makes 53hp ot of a 125cc (original power 28hp)
Don't talk about stock motor , my 1200cc twingo is about 55hp ... MK Pro Race 78cc On derbi basis : 23Hp . Honda RSR 125cc : 55Hp My RDX 125cc With only exhaust : ~20HP+ ( mesured with a NSR 125 ~30HP ) Without turbos ... Turbos on 2 stroke are useless . That's why you can't see a turbo 2 stroke on a track or in competition . You think this guy is better than the HRC or GYT ? i don't think so .
xXxcastenada You can found little low pressure turbos how kick at low RPMs . You don't need turbo on 2 stroke because of type of the motor . A good 2 stroke exhaust is a turbo, exploited " balayage" is the only thing to make a 2 stroke powerful, there's no secret . If you want grab a tuner book ( the goods, not the olds, SAE seems to be the best ) and at least you will follow me . Turbos on 2 strokes are USELESS god dammit!
Moro Raph i know, i'm a 2-stroke addicted, i hate 4-stroker, but we have to admit that turbos on 2 strokes can work. and needless to say, kicking at high rpm is normal for a 2-stroke, that's the only good of a 2 stroke! remember the good old "disco rotante" valves? yeah, those valves didn't run too much before a certain amount of rpm. but right after the valve kicks in you gotta be ready because it would literally rip off your arms! sorry for my english, i'm italian (the land where we've got 30hp-tuned-50cc moped, discorotante valves, DEA engineering, home-made 2stroke exhaust, morbidelli 125, tm karts etc.)
+Garrett Thon seriously stop your foolishness you'll spend all your time is money in this project here in Europe we know prepared the 2-stroke engine, and we get to as many assets performance without turbo! knowing that the turbo engine and more heavy! power to weight ratio is ridiculous
