Congrats on 50 episodes! Keep them coming. I picked up a few Man-Thing comics and have yet to find a good video about him. I think he's a unique character with a wide range of abilities and is often over looked. It would be awesome if you did a video about him.
I look forward to your videos every week! I especially love the ones where you talk about ridiculous plots of the older golden age and silver age comics. Can't wait for the Christmas special! :D
I demand the accent! I'm not gonna lie, I'm a little bit relieved knowing that all the cool stuff in the background is green screened, because my jealousy can now subside. Congrats on 50 episodes!
MonarchsFactory How about I do every video of 2015 in a different accent? Sound good? And boy do I wish I actually had some of that stuff in the background. Though I did get that nice Thor hammer recently, so I guess now's as good a time as any to start collecting these items.
***** Perfect! Haha It's the shield that I covet the most I think, which is a little weird given the association with overwhelming patriotism for a country that isn't mine...
MonarchsFactory I've often wondered how people in other countries felt about Captain America. He's a cool guy, but I feel like his name could come across as a bit silly to some people.
Stewdippin : Fun Nerdy Videos Every Week Thank you very much, Ricky! I'm glad there's someone that will listen to my bogus, non-researched theories. And not just listen, but follow up with links and articles to expand upon it. I can only guarantee that my ideas will get crazier and stupider, so look forward to some of those. Haha
Congratulations man! I love watching your videos because they cover less mainstream stuff that I would have no idea even happened or existed, keep up the good work :)
I totally knew your background was a green screen and I've been meaning to do that forever because I have one in my bedroom but it takes SO long to render. How long does that take for you? Ha. But congrats Scott! I'm so happy Stewdippin : Fun Nerdy Videos Every Week linked us up. Can't wait for vidcon!
That felt good to be mentioned. The answer wasn't that strange, but it just felt cool. My favorite thing that I learned from these videos was that in one comic, Superman could make mini-Supes fly out of his hands. That just made me crack up. I also cracked up when I heard the villain who asked Superman why his peanut butter tasted so good. For some reason, this seems like my life's second greatest triumph after winning the History Bee. Also thanks for introducing me to the Nostalgia Critic with your podcasts. I hope you'll still be this nice and answer the comments as more viewers arrive. Thanks for the good videos! I'm not even that big of a comics fan. Alex
Alex Schmidt Thanks for the kind words. It's very encouraging! As you can imagine, it gets increasingly hard to read and respond all the comments. Just know that if one day I can't do it much in the years to come, it's not because I turned into a jerk who doesn't care about the commenters. It'll be because there won't be enough hours in the day. I already spend about hours each day responding to comments. I soon might have to devise a new system that can make it easier to manage. Either way, thanks for commenting and watching the videos!
Very nice show. Sincerely, you do such a professional job either researching, editing and hosting, that I was surprised to hear that you em almost everything by yourself.
congrats on fifty episodes! I love the show, glad I stumbled onto it, I tell everyone who is interested about it. I think a Kyle Rayner movie would be awesome, then again I was never overly partial to Hal Jordan to begin with. Kyle and John Stewart are my favorite Lanterns, personally.
Fantastic video!!! I'm new to comics and find this show extremely helpful with finding a starting point and learning about comics, i was just wondering if there was any reasoning for the show to lean more towards superheroes, I've really gotten into reading things such as V for Vendetta Graphic novel, and Watchmen, but so far my favorite thing has been Saga, I think it would be really interesting if you talked about some graphic novels or non superhero oriented things, thank you for this show and happy 50!!!
Coty McNiel Define "talk about", because I don't really just talk about comic story arcs unless I'm trying to answer a question or propose an idea. I wouldn't mind talking about non-superhero comics, but there needs to be a purpose for the video. And thanks for the kind words about the show!
HAPPY 50TH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! oh and I just recently finished season 2 of arrow on netflix and it would be awesome if you could do an episode comparing the arrow tv show and the green arrow comic but also HAPPY 50TH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
***** 1- Is there still a chance you can release that Alan Scott video? I would really like that and I think it's worth for the whole work it took you to make the video. Even as a bonus or something special for the fans would be nice. 2- Also. Can you do a special on Golden Age Superheroes? What I mean by this is elaborate on those facts you mentioned earlier about superheroes like Superman, Namor, Batman, Wonder Woman, Captain America, etc. being very violent and unapologetic, and then explain why those kind of stories ended with the regulation of comic books and how it happened.
I definitely scheduled a CCA early next year. And I am also planning on re-researching the Alan Scott episode soon. I enlisted help from a HUGE Green Lantern fan a few months ago, but I guess I just need to finally sit down, take the gloves off, and take another crack at it.
This is awesome! Spider-Man has always been my favorite hero too, since I was like 3! I have seen the original spider man movies like 500 times! I agree about spider man being my protector, he was always my hero as a 3-10 year old! Can't wait for the future of NerdSync!
Anyone notice how insanely nice Scott is? Someone could say they despise him for an eternity and he'd say "haha! good point man" Is he like Canadian or Coloradan or something?
UCd3AD In my youth I was raised in Michigan, which is basically Canada. Then I moved to South Carolina which is the #1 state in saying "Please" and "Thank you" based off of one info graphic I saw. So maybe it's that? haha
50 episodes that is mutch. I remember watching the first videos about green lantern when it was new. I liked it but dident have a youtube acount. Along time later I saw the title "When Luis Lane dated Supermans father" and ofcorse that sounds awsome and clict on it. Then I rememberd the old Green Lantern videos and subscribed at once. I love the videos keep it up :D (best Chanel on youtube)
By "talk about" I mean maybe look into how some graphic novels in the 80's changed the industry, or how the Guy Fawkes mask ties into V for Vendetta? These are just off the top of my head but something out there or a little different that doesn't tie into superhero storylines would be interesting, thanks for making this show possible!
Coty McNiel Okay. I talked about a little about 80s graphic novels in the episode about the different ages of comic books I'll link to below. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jaNGEbGdRfo.html
Ok, I have a theory- in X-Men: Days of future past Kitty Pryde sent Wolverine back in time to stop the Sentinels. So what if Kitty Pryde could control the frequency that she phases at and is able to phase through time itself? Please tell me what you think, I would really appreciate it. 50th episode, WHOOOOO!!!!! Great episode, 2 weeks is gonna be hard to do :') and I love how you never do actual cannon origin stories but different takes and yet are able to keep the show interesting.
Rob Stumbo Thank you very much for the kind words! As for the Kitty Pryde thing, wasn't that how it was officially explained in an interview with Bryan Singer? I could be wrong, but I feel like I've heard that before and that's actually how it was supposed to be explained.
Congratulations on 50(ish) episodes!!! And I would love to see Martian Manhunter in a movie but, like Moon Knight and Kyle Rayner, will probably never happen. Though an appearance in a Justice League film isn't unlikely.
You're right bout the trunks thing. Back in the day circus and carnival strong men (think the two guys from family guy that are displaying "feats of strength" and keep saying hup hup) wore tights and singlets (think modern day wrestlers.) and comic book artists wanted to show to people that the hero they were drawing was capable of great strength so the decided to put them in trunks and that way kids would associate heroes with circus and carnival strong men.
idk, hard to say. It just fits into the vein of all great sci-fi and makes you think&feel. In my mind the Surfer is the most pious and noble character in all Marvel comics. A world without him just isnt a place I want to live.
Hey Steve I know its to late for questions to go on your 50th episode-ish video. I have one nagging question. In the Spiderman comics when Peter is having a flash back about what makes him Spiderman he always have the same ones. Like there is one where he holding a collapse tunnel in some kind of sewer or the Gwen Stacy on the bridge incident. Can you explain these images and which issue they can be found in. Spiderman is my favorite character to and I also agree with you on a Moon Knight movie.
congratulations to you and all the member of the nerd sync for reaching 50 episodes may you reach a 1000 episodes someday cheers big fan love your content
Hey Scott. My channel is currently working on a Moon Knight fan series. The channel itself is actually a little underdeveloped but once we get through with writing the scripts and releasing a trailer we think that people will be very impressed. Watch out for the Moon Knight series trailer which will be release soon. (It's going to be the closest live action depiction until Marvel makes their move).
I think you should do an episode on the "Just imagine Stan Lee created the DC universe," searies. (Which should be the current Earth 6 in the DC Multiverse)
Man a green screen? I was gonna ask you for one of the comics in the wall ... XD ... Great you've made it this far, with a lot of effort and sweet? Hahaha ... Well with a lot of effort :) ... Till the 100th
JP Kloess I went to college for film and video production, convinced I was going to do VFX work for a living. In a sense, I still do video production, but I haven't done any VFX stuff in forever. Also, I failed out of college because I spent too much time making these videos instead of studying. Haha
JANTRAN We did one on the Batcave already, but I could see doing one on the Fortress of Solitude or something. Someone a while ago suggested doing one on the Hellicarrier which I think would be neat! Here's the Batcave episode if you haven't seen it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QpXktEBRsaA.html
***** the fortress of solitude would be cool but i was also kinda thinking that there may be come heros who used to have secret bases but were cut out in later issues
Hey NerdSync, I know your on break and are probably getting thousands of request on videos, but could you do a video (later on) on who would win in a fight, Galactus or Unicron.
Great video. Nerdsync is the best comic channel on youtube. If you haven't already subscribed, I suggest you do so for some great content. I have been for years and have never been disappointed!
Hey Scott, could you do an episode on Bat Mite and Mr Mxyzptlk because they are really cool and I'm not sure if there very well known but I find them really cool, THANKS!
Oh yeah a moon knight movie or series would be amazing. Their are so many versions and different ways you could go about it.i feel he's still an unappreciated marvel hero.
Have you ever thought about doing some episodes which aren't about one topic but about multiple? Kinda like you get all the ideas you want to do an episode on, but aren't big enough when you explore them and just dump them into one episode.
Kyle Raynor and Moon Knight! Absolutely perfect. I couldn’t imagine a better answer to that question lol. Also, the strongman thing is actually true. Joe Shuster was actually really into body building and was pretty miffed about the fact that he stayed scrawny as hell no matter how many workouts he copied out of the magazines. He has actually suggested in interviews that one of the inspiration for Superman’s design was the body building magazines he used to read. I am not 100% sure on the source for that info. I think it was in a superhero doc like "Superheroes: A Never Ending Battle" or "Secret Origins” but I am sure I’ve seen the interview. Anyway, after Superman, the trend stuck. It’s the same reason that superheroes wear tights. Strange how no one really questions the tights, just the underwear on the outside. If I gained superpowers tomorrow and started zipping around LA tying up muggers, I can guarantee that my costume wouldn’t include tights. Also, speaking of comics that never seemed like they would actually get movies, did you see Agents of Shield Last night? So many Inhumans easter eggs it nearly made my head explode! I am glad I stuck with it now since now it is apparent that Marvel is going to be using it as it’s vehicle for introducing Attilan. Any guesses as to what Skye’s power is?
Norrin Radd Agents of SHIELD was spectacular! This season has been so good. I don't know what her power is going to be, but I thought she was going to start flying right before the episode cut out. I don't want it to be something simple like super strength. I want it to be a visually exciting power.
***** Yeah same here. It seemed like she had something to do with the tremors that happened right after she came out of terrigenesis, which had me thinking something like matter manipulation or telekinesis, though that could have just as easily been a consequence of the other things that were going on at that time. By the end of last season I was on the verge of falling off and not watching the show any more. Now I’m glad I stuck with it!
***** Definitely, and after waiting three seasons before introducing any actual superheroes, it looks like they are finally going to pick up the pace. :-) I have always thought the Inhumans were one of marvels more underrated gems, and paired with the introduction of Ronan in GoTG, it opens up a lot of really awesome storylines. (Crosses fingers for Secret Invasion)
I have a video idea maybe you should do a youtube video on dc and marvels multiverse or the difference of dc and marvels depictions of death (they are completely different)
G'day. No one says that in Australia except the Northern Aussies, which is generalising, but we find it sooooo funny when Americans think all this stuff.
About the Moon Knight movie, I think I'd actually prefer a TV series. It would be great if they set it out like the recent Warren Ellis run on Moon Knight with each issue or episode being it's own little thing. Be great for a little mini-series of 6 or so episodes. Maybe a mini-series every few years.
I wouldn't mind seeing a Moon Knight flick of some kind, but IMO you have the same problem as with the Punisher. Certain characters are better in other media when they are defined by who they are not. When the Punisher appeared on 90's Animated Spider-Man, or in the early 70's Spidey books, he was not Spider-Man : he played a little to a whole lot rougher, and the hero who mostly tries to play by the book is suddenly confronted by one who may throw it out entirely. Moon Knight is neither so violent or as contrasted as the Punisher, but his world is different and murkier, and may not play well as the easy dichotomies of Matt Murdock and Peter Parker. When he goes after Jack Russell or teams with Spidey or his once-fellow-bad-fit Avengers, his methods and methodology are shown to be different, so maybe certain characters need someone else to be contrasted to. Okay, my own Q&A : Your favorite bad future scenario? Mine is DC's Pre-Crisis The Great Disaster, which takes on a mind-bending amount of stuff and tries to make a Planet Of The Apes scenario out of stuff that was never really meant to be all one story.
Which comics do you like more, Marvel or DC? What's your favorite Spider-Man storyline? Who's your favorite DC character? What's your favorite graphic novel - has to be at least 300 pages - ? Is there a superhero you wished would stay dead?
I would pick Batman, he's not only my favourite superhero but one of the most brilliant and he would definitely beat up at least a good amount of heroes/soon to be murderoes
Do you think it would be awesome to see a walking dead animated film based on the comics? I would like to a Fear the Hunters animated film. I think it is a good idea.
What about a show looking at the Watchmen characters and how they differ from their original inspiration of Blue Beetle, the Question, etc. For example, how Rorschach is a right wing nut and his original inspiration of the Question is a left wing nut. And side note, omg it would be so cool if they made a comic, taking the original storyline of Watchmen and giving it to the actual original characters, in continuity and everything like originally intended! I keep wishing for this to happen.
Jerson Ibarra Hmm, then probably the opening to Amazing Spider-Man 2 when he's just swinging through the city. It's a little thing that only lasts a few seconds, I know, but I feel like that intro sequence finally captured (for me) what web-swinging looks and feels like in such a beautiful way. That being said, the train sequence in Spider-Man 2 is also spectacular and is one of my favorite parts of all the Spider-Man movies.
Hey Scott Has anyone other than thor pick up his hammer and why did they try? I am just curios because of the Avengers 2 tralier when the avengers try to lift up thors hammer Steve Rodgers almost does so it got me think does he ever pick it up and has anyone else picked it up Thanks love comic misconceptions
In the new fantastic four movie, the FF are going in to another univers. Do you think that could be the amzing spider-man movie universe, the x men movie univers or maybe Marvle cinematic univers?
Teodor Engen If it was any one of those, it would be the X-Men universe because Fox owns the movie rights to both FF and X-Men, but I don't know if they'll actually do that.
***** hay hes my favorite too but right now im really liking the flash(wally west)im gonna shout you out in my sonic 06 review be sure to check out and by the way ima 13 yearold kid and my vids dont got the best quality but definitly check out remember vote scott
