Hey, you wonderful nerd! I'm Scott, and here's my story...
I was a terrible student in school and eventually failed out of college, but I discovered that I actually love learning! History, philosophy, culture, art - you name it. I just needed to learn through a topic I was already passionate about. So I turned to my incredibly nerdy interests like comic books, superhero movies, Scooby-Doo cartoons, Dungeons & Dragons, and even Bob Ross.
Through these lenses of pop culture, I make video essays that critically examine nerdy media through curiosity and vulnerability. And, of course, lots of context with very little content!
If that sounds like something you'd be interested in, then hit SUBSCRIBE so you never miss an upload, you wonderful nerd!
Me: "I don't really get this color season stuff, it's probably because of my autism" Color theorist: "I have autism." Me: "Damnit! There goes my excuse."
38:10 To be fair, uru is a genuinely great made-up name for a modern adaptation of Germanic folklore. It sounds just familiar enough to tickle that part of the brain that implies meaning, but just unfamiliar enough to sound exotic and interesting. At least to me.
I really love the video effects that you added when Essie was talking about contrast, undertone, and chroma. It was a wonderful way to highlight the concepts she was talking about in a very visual way!
It's specifically magenta that's not a part of the visible light spectrum that our brains make up, not purple in general. Violet is part of the rainbow.
I used to love the Spider-Man comic strips in the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. Then on Sundays they would have a full panel and usually Spidey would get into some kind of jam with some villian (probably so you would buy the daily paper to find out how its resolved). I much prefered those to comic books for some reason -- less investment I guess lol
Oooooooo.... That ground news felt like you had wrote it.....but I know you personally aren't offering a 40% discount.....but you made it sound like you are.... Sorry dude... Unsub
The syndicated Batman played in my home market after school in a block with the Brady Bunch and Gilligans Island in the mid 1970s. When the shows were over it was time for dinner lol. As Dozier predicted, I thought it was straight drama. I remember sometime after or just before Batman 89 came out I went to a showing of Batman 66 the movie at Marquette University and was horrified that it was pure camp. (I hadn't seen it since I was 5 or 6). Anyway, yeah I think that show and Spiderman on the Electric Company introduced me to Superheroes, but I never collected comic books, just watched some of the cartoons
I've heard "it was the lowest rated show they've ever tested" now for "Seinfeld" "Batman" "Curb Your Enthusiasm" "Sopranos" "The Office US" and "All in the Family"... maybe the tests scores need to be inverted
Found this video by accident. Absolutely loved it. Congrats for coming out as bi. And yes, purple does look amazing on you, though I'd stick to a slightly muted shade like the one you were wearing rather than a vivid, clear one like Daphne's. (But in the end, what Parker said!)
In around 2013, it might have been a novelty thing to use virtue signalling for entertainment and call everyone and everything RaCiSt, but we have moved on since
She did a really good job describing color palettes. She explained the reason very well too. She’s autistic, and this is a big special interest of hers. Going into extreme though detail is just what we do when talking about our special interests. That’s one of the things that make autistic people like us awesome.
“You’ve seen the run time of this video. You know what you’ve signed up for.” *Checks runtime of video to find I’m just over 3 minutes into a 33 minute video.* 😮 Thanks for the warning.😅 Now back to the video!
22:30 RU-vid has a thing in its terms that you won't make anything that is of the same type of content or on the same topic for anti-competition. It's not very well upheld, if at all.
I've pretty much always been aware that kryptonite is an element. The explanation that Superman arrived before the light got here, made me think super positioning?
eh, "purple/pink doesn't exist" is as accurate as saying shadows don't exist or zero doesn't exist because they are by definition an absence of something
Purple is indeed a fall color. Purple is a key Halloween Color. Halloween was originally All Hallows Eve which was the Catholicized from Samhain which is celebrated on the last day of October to welcome in Winter and celebrate the harvest of that year.
@@ryantalley5284 Except the month doesn't start at day 0. There are 744 hours in the month, which means the halfway point is 372 hours in. The 15th day ends at 360 hours in. The 372nd hour is 12pm on the 16th day. Or, as you put it, 15.5 days into the month. Making the middle of May the 16th.
I did not expect this video to be about Color Seasons and Color Theory. As an artist, I locked in SO fast (well, faster than I normally do on your videos 😂)
Lying to Ditko about the royalties and then taking them for yourself is completely in line with "Objectivism." Hard to believe Ditko couldn't see that himself.
Thanks for this. Ditko is a particularly vivid example of how Rand's ideas were not a philosophy at all, but a transparent and not very compelling rationalization for being a bitter, vindictive, and neurotically insecure person.
