I'm watching this video for the third time and really listened. You can tell these guys love boxing and know boxing, they were from an era where boxers were kings. Truth is that boxing by the rules is not enough to separate yourself in a fight against another boxer. These guys added other stuff, improvised, learned from practical experience that most ppl don't get. I think what they got sounds good and makes sense.
I honestly dont care anymore who i learn legit fighting from. Honestly learning from a prisoner who has to fight to survive is more convincing than ever
Thats cause most people dont onow shit about boxing. They thing you swing your arms and its boxing. Truth is boxing turns your whole body into a gun. The arms are just the end point.
I love how people are saying this is shit take a step back and look at the practicallity of this art it takes most of its moves from boxing which is proved time and time again as a great fighting form so as bruce lee once said absorb what is useful use discard what is not and use what is uniquely your own and i cant think of any other style where these words apply so true
@hey heyhey so what if they've never grappled (and you're assuming that this is the only art they know) they're from the streets ie no rules/no tap out and anything goes.
@hey heyhey "mma would destroy this style" it's mma smart one😑 of course no pure style is gonna beat a mixed one. Yoel romaro has used and mixed this style in his game plenty of times n it's proved to be effective. "They've never grappled a day in their life" 🙄 yea cause a man who grew up in a time where mma wasn't a thing and boxing was king is gonna think about going to take up grappling right? 🤦🏿♂️Think!
@@kamo7923 These guys are "Street Fighters" 1st and Foremost, Don't get it Twisted, Growing up in Detroit in the 60's and 70's we did a HELLUVA Lot of Grappling, Only difference is that if WE go to the Ground, Your gonna Loose and Eye, Ear and Maybe your Nose if my Mouth is Close enough! Nothing like a Thumb in your Eye Socket to Get your Attention Hahahaha!
I used to be an actor, and was on set once with an actor who bought his bodyguard, a guy who had done serious time. Between takes, he showed me some jailhouse moves - the focus was on swiftly immobilizing an opponent with strikes from unusual angles and then breaking contact as quickly as possible, before his buddies or corrections officers roll up on you. It’s true grappling wasn’t nearly as popular back then, but I don’t think you want to fight on the ground in prison if you can avoid it. I was a fairly decent boxer and I didn’t see any of it coming. Most of the strikes also lent themselves to a short-bladed dagger when available.
Rue U That shit is power rangers fighting. Look up their drills dude it looks so impractical. The only reason people think its so cool is because its no holds barred and used by some military. It has no answer for takedowns and the way they block straight punches is to push the punches away from you as they are being thrown like someone is gonna walk up to you and throw 5 of the exact same straight punches and shoulder level with no curce at all and then stand straight up like a plank of wood while you pick a time to shoot in, stand up, get into position, and then do a fancy hip toss. Does it look badass? Absolutely but its about as practical in a legit fight as tai chi
Rue U What are you talking about? I dont wanna take a martial art that I dont think is a further improvment of regular grusome fighting. If you just give up as soon as you hit the ground and know no takedown defense than youre forever going to be one bums rush away from losing a fight. Krav maga is all about getting up close and finishing quick while your average brawler is about the same basic shit..."fuck this guy up". When two people move in at the same time they collide. If you dont know how to grapple and you and a larger man, lets say a middle aged shiploader, clash like that than your whole fight just ended, is that what youre saying.
Rue U no he did, you just all bout that street defense mentality where u dont think u have to worry about takedowns in a fight. most people on the streets dont go for takedowns but when people do it ends their
I'm not saying this doesn't work, but I can attest to Krav Maga being effective. Many of the RU-vid videos of Krav don't show Krav as it is taught by the IDF. It is violent, aggressive, and to the point. There isn't a techniques that we use where we employ the hip throw, if a house wife can't so it, it isn't used. There are 2 schools of thought on Krav, civilian and military. I can only speak on the military Krav Maga.
R.I.P born Justice a legend in Brooklyn he added boxing to the 52. Han style and let's not forget old man Sha Sha, black Messiah. Bo pete these are a few of the street fighting legends
Every fighting style that is effective has some form of boxing in it, the point made about passing down the art to the next generation is a key to keeping that art alive, Well said.
As a Kick boxer and jiu jitsu guy, this idea is actually kind of fascinating. I won't go off the handle and claim this looks like a world class system. But I can say these guys can throw hands. Peoole put so much emphasis on style. When it reality fighting is hitting something/someone. Techniques don't make you a better "hitter" just teach you how to hit. What these gentlemen have (they seem very personable and probably most are violent criminals lets be real) have the one thing that makes you a real hitter. Thats called work ethic. They don't out punch you they out work you simple as that. Mad respect for taking jack shit and making the best they could out of it. You don't defeat a person with a technique you crush them with blood, sweat, and tears.
@@pahwraith exactly and he has technique. Hes not just a brawler or an average boxer. Hes techniquel and hes good at counter punching which makes him a beast.
Let me say this from my own experience, if you aren't groomed as a boxer ,with an educated lead hand, have proper form and a basic understanding of defense than this skill set may be a waste of time. But if you wrap this around your boxing knowledge you'll make the most out of this art. Things I've learned in basketball helped me in my inside fight. So it works if you work it. But that foundation is an absolute must.
Ive boxed, Ive played at Wing Chun, and a variety of other martial arts over my 40 years. 1. All this racists shit means nothing, proves nothing(except what manner of trash the poster is) and should treated as nothing. 2. The function of all Martial Arts, or Martial systems is at their heart, discipline. A well trained man is a well trained man. If you train hard you will develop keen eyes and quick reflexes, so to dismiss 52 Blocks is stupid, and to think that 52 Blocks will make a lazy fighter a good fighter is also stupid. 3. A caveat-- I have never sparred with, trained with, or in person encountered a 52 Blocks disciple. Not being stupid enough to believe youtube is a good example of a fighting system I confess my ignorance of the system. 4. If you love martial arts than take this video as introduction to something you arent familiar with, if you are a bigot against black people why the fuck are even bothering watching the video, and if you are a bigot against white people why the fuck are wasting mental energy reply to youtube racists. 5. If you are on youtube anonymously telling people how tough you are and how you will fuck them up, you are in point of fact a coward. 6. Thank you uploader for the video. I know the Blacks(tend) at the local Mosque practice Wing Chun, but I will surely keep an eye out for 52 players to see if I can afford myself a legit encounter with the system. God bless you all. EDIT: grammar and spelling errors
So what if they have a Bruce Lee poster? Most black households also have a bunch of Jesus imagery scattered around, but over 75% of those households are a *single mother* with a bunch of bastard kids by multiple fathers. Just cause you rep with a poster or some shit doesn't mean you know anything or are truly dedicated to it.
I'm only seeing racial bs from black people posting, talking about how boxing was never European. Pls stfu you blacks are the most racist folks in the US, every immigrant learns that when living in the inner cities for a year or two.
PC Principal did you really defend 52 block style? This is full of shit. I mean I'm opened minded but this crap against a MMA or a BJJ/Vale Tudo....useless.
52 blocks have excellent striking techniques. They throw traditional punches as well as unorthodox ones from multiple angles. They have great foot work and awesome guard. Give credit where credit is due!
We blacks have our own hand to hand martial arts. 1. Engolo ( father of capoeira ) 2. Dambe ( one handed striking art that has kicks, grabs, wide swings, parries, and punch that is kind of similar to a straight right ) 3. Lutte Traditionelle ( ancient African wrestling ) 4. Knocking and kicking ( created by African slaves in the USA ) 5. Senegalese wrestling ( which has strikes unlike Lutte ) 6. Capoeira ( created by African slaves in Brazil ) 7. 52 blocks/Jailhouse Rock ( created by African Americans in the USA ) 8. Gidigbo I got all this from someone who posted all these styles here on youtube. Makes me even more proud to be black.
Pretty impressive. When it comes to the martial arts most times the best ones come from the harshest environments. Hard to think of many environments harsher that the prison system. My hat is off to these guys for developing a unique system.
In Georgia a similar style was invented at the Alto prison called the Alto shuffle. It consists of punches, elbows, knees and much more dazzling hand movements intended to distract and confound an opponent.
Says the guy who looks overweight and probably is as wide as he is tall. And probably has never trained a day in his life either. At his age he looks like he's in pretty good shape, he's a respected fight trainer amongst his peers, and I've seen good trainers/instructors and none of them looked like Mike Tyson or Bruce Lee either. lol The article I was reading on-line from an mmatraining website seemed he was knowledgeable enough as a trainer to interview and include in their write-up on it.
I'm not some fanboy and I never heard of "52 blocks" for that matter but an article written on a mma training website is how I even found the video in the first place. Rashad Evans, Mike Tyson, and several other champs in their respective fields were mentioned in the article too. (Sorry I don't have the link but a simple Google search should find it though)
Thats real especially in jail when the fights happen IT HAPPENS IN A VERY TIGHT SPACE AND THE FIGHTERS HAVE TO HURRY UP AND DUKE IT OUT AND THEN SQUASH IT 52 HANDBLOCKS JAILHOUSE ROCKS =) 🔥🔥🔥 100
"Using the elbow as a blade" to destroy a persons jabs comes from the action of holding the knife in reverse or (earth) grip after drawing it and putting it parallel to your forearm. When you're empty hand with no knife your elbow serves as a blade. That technique was shown to me by my Guro and reiterated by his Guro's Ron Balicki and Dan Inosanto when I studied from them. Not to name drop but its seriously a common technique found in most of Inosanto's DVD and even Demo's here on RU-vid.
I'm always curious to see any new styles or variations of styles come out. I think when someone says "x" style can beat "y" martial art etc, you also have to keep in mind that the practitioners, or fighters are also a big part of that scenario. Tae Kwon Do and karate were thought to be useless, then Machida, Wonderboy, Pettis etc, showed up, Judo has great applications, boxing, muay thai etc. I think there is something good in 52 blocks, maybe it's not better than "x" or "y" for YOU, maybe it is, but why straight up $h!t on something is beyond me.
Machida, Wonderboy and Pettis use the stances from those fighting styles. They don't strike or block like those styles beyond occasional kicking. It's an awkward stance to defend against but the hand work in TKD and Karate is crap when it comes up against kickboxing and real boxing. Having your hand so low is asking to get KO'd. Plus barely anyone in MMA does those fighting styles so it's hard to find sparring partners to train for those guys. They're great starting blocks but as what you should take with you to fight a trained opponent. Not nearly enough.
This is what was so cool about the old UFC. It wasn't so much of a blend of martial arts like it is today. It was more like, who would win in a fight between a boxer and a taekwondo practitioner? It was pitting different fighting styles against each other.
Lmaoooo maybe cuz it's a joke? Lol naw respect to these dudes but just watch floyds fights over n over if u really wanna learn some shit n just learn that Philly shell fuck all this 52 shit. Let them get in the ring with a boxer like me an try this shit. They will get feinted out of position so much that Ima have them punching themselves lol
What a lot of people don't know is that most modern martial arts training incorporates FMA into its curriculum. What these guys are doing is not really their own version of an FMA system in its traditional form, but just incorporating what works for them into their own system which is based on fighting in situations where weaponry is a dimension that needs to be covered and taught quickly. And what better martial art for weaponry is there than FMA?
I don't see why this wouldn't work. It's realistic, proven in fights in 'prison' and when you have nothing better to do, why not practice what you know and gain what you don't know?
52 Blocks is science, just like the bar/calisthenics training. In a lot of ways this, 52 blocks and bar training is superior to traditional stand-up and conditioning. These guys are sharp, and should be recognized as such.
almighty prime the peekabo guard came from Cus D’Amato, not the 52 per se. in fact, the peekabo guard probably was incorporated into the 52 after Mike Tyson should success with it in the ring.
Yo this style is real! I havent lost a fight in over a decade becuz of this technique and didnt realize i was using it till years later! Peace to da god born justice
Tuesday 19th March 2024. 17.55pm. "Dear Sir/Madam. How are you? I trust you are well. Thank you, for the video on 52 Boxing. I really appreciate it." Yours Faithfully. The Bull of Lewisham. 🐂
He was fast and big at 6'4"...If he trained MMA he would be deadly. Especially on the steroids today's athletes use. The same with Tyson...Do you really think anyone in MMA would stand a chance against either of these guys with muay thai and jujitsu training?
if your jab and hook come from "anywhere" the chances they got nothing on them is incredibly high and a real fighter makes a guy throwing air pay and pay and pay.
ill buy that- but the jab is intended primarily to impair vision or illicit a desired movement. guys with on-balance shotgun jabs are a rare breed indeed. as for the hook- ive seen more guys get knocked out by punches they didnt see coming- or didnt expect than anything else..
Why not challenge openly other styles to demonstrate? Why not just give a demonstration? Its hard to imagine this style without seeing it against a boxer, MMA, street fighter? With all due respect.
Bobby Mobay because the point isn't to prove anything. it's survival. they don't care about being the best fighter in the world or proving their style is the best. they just don't want to get raped or murdered. this is also why shaolin monks don't try to prove their skill
High kicks don't work outside of a cage bro. You don't know wtf you are talking about. You going to try to kick someone in tight spaces? No you can't. I can go on. Ufc is not the same as real life no rules or mats. Pretty kicks are good for movies.
This man looks like fighting him is only an option when choosing which hospital you'd like the emts to take you to. I'd suggest Lenox Hill, if you've got the bread.....
Did the Chinese influence the Filipinos? Who knows? All I'm saying is it 52 resembles Panantukan. Does that take away from its effectiveness or discredited in any way? No it indeed looks to be very functional
I've been in tae kwon do since age 5-6 and after a while I seen things that I've added to over the years. I trained with the FOI a couple of times when I was a sturdy student at the Mosque in Newark and here in Columbia, SC. I learned some other thing's but studying a certain piece of knowledge but I won't reveal that right now. The jumping technique is the most deadliest of all. My father taught me that one at the age of 12. Good to see our people heading back to their culture and arts. Peace.
MasterCipher Supreme I have studied several styles as well,, Tae kwon do was one of them then Tiger Shark HAPKIDO,, then Elite HAPKIDO/combat hapkido,,,, but I can't stand it when people put down martial arts of certain styles when they never tried to learn it and understand it,,,, that's what I liked about Bruce Lee he never put down any style he actually Incorporated so many styles into JKD and while he was making movies he was challenged by so many that if he seen something new he liked he would learn it and add it in to the JKD system,,, he actually while filming game of death studied hapkido and was going to incorporate it into JKD but died while filming game of death.... So long story short,, if all these people on here would stop saying that this is better than that and just be like water like Bruce Lee said then they can be true martial artists,,,, it's not about what's better it's about inner peace,, bettering your health,, staying fit,, to help sustain owns life,, building respect for self and others,, discipline,, controlling emotions.. ect ect ect.......
All martial arts start and end with the mind.. and self control (true essence of martial arts). Doesn't mean a thing if you've trained for years.. it's the moment of application that matters. Hopefully most TRUE martial artists can apply what they've learned and avoid conflict. Like Bruce Lee said, kung fu of the mind.. learn the art of non fighting.
Jealousy is at a all the time High, when I was in the military on board the USS Enterprise, we will all get together all the practitioners all those who love the sweet science and share knowledge oh, so I know where this guy is coming from and we got down! We fought oh, what else you got to do out at Sea 6 to 8 months we was machines
I would love to learn this. This is tried and true, straight out the box, pure. Wished I live in NY, nothing like this, that I know of, in the Midwest.
This comes from a boxer named George Benton it’s called the slip style. This evolved into the shoulder roll technique that Floyd Mayweather made popular on a mainstream level but this style has been around forever. This style would be good for counter punching and inside fighting.
i love boxing im wondering too how to box in to a whole another level... this is great techniques, i dont know there is a techniques like this GREAT its like Dirty Boxing or something...:)
It's a cool video and a cooler technique. But what the hell is wrong with people these days? It's a combative arts video, why does it provoke such racist remarks from such un evolved minds?
It also looks a lot like they incorporated some kali or sinum bagay(I hope i spelled that right) into their system. It looks very practical and effective. FMA rarely gets the recognition it deserves.
Dunno the effectiveness or legitimacy of the "52" but your 100% right, it's their art and how they want to do it is up to them. By the way this clip is produced like a trailer of a movie. Well done guys.
I been training for 17 years in several arts, but i got 3 years on the shelf and i'm 6'0 and only 125lbs. Me bein skinny, y'all think imma have to fight my very first day if i violate probation?
cant personally think of a environment where you have super tough dudes with nothing but time and ABSOLUTE necessity to develop a system that works within a boxing type style. in short i will listen to these men for sure when they are talking! i'm probably to old and slow to apply it but i have no doubt i will gain some great insights, thanks for sharing, much respect.
Peace true and living we did a bid near river view I miss the true icons like you and universal walik from bk salute born justice well respected inside and outside nothing but truth and black love PEACE LORD
