@superdougie4637

+odinmp5 probably a lot of nuts and certain types of seeds for protein and maybe protein supplements added with food, some vegans do this, not all.

You cannot build muscle by just being vegan. The human body needs certain amino acids that are found only in meat. And not just for bodybuilding (or calisthenics), but for a regular day diet. For example: tryptophan is one of the 22 standard amino acids and an essential amino acid in the human diet which is found in turkey meat. Tryptophan cannot be found in vegetables. I gave you one example, you can search for more if you want :). I would encourage you to eat meat. It is true that most chicken breast is filled with chemicals and hormons, thats why it is recommended to find small farms that produce chickens the old way, or buy from bio firms. Or you could eat fish, not all fish is good though, do some research :).

Thanks for the info. I'm not qualified to respond, but there is a vegan body builder who's also a passionate animal rights activist. I've met him personally, and I'm pretty certain he's not eating any animal products. You may want to check him out. His RU-vid channel is: Vegan Gains.

He looks great.. everyone doesn't have large calves..Focus on the positive message, and also his demeanor and attitude is radiant.... I applaud this man..I'm a 57 yr old vegan and have switched from weights after seeing the Barstarzz videos about a yr ago
@MrTone075
@MrTone075 8 лет назад
+Mark Blake Did switching from weights help shred your physique and make you stronger? I'm curious.
@SunfoodWarrior
@SunfoodWarrior 8 лет назад
+Sylvester White ..Yes it has, especially useable strength, as well my joints feel solid.. I'm tall and lean, 6'5" and using bench press etc feels restricting for my limbs..In addition, my stamina increases.. Still developing something to challenge my calves..I have good proportionate size legs, but calf raises would number a couple of hundred for me to get a burn without weights, and that's one legged calf raises..Open for some suggestions of ways to work the calves intensely without weights..
@MrTone075
@MrTone075 8 лет назад
Cool. I've gotta try that. I do standing calf raises on top of a plastic weight plate, 15lb plate. I most of the time do them both at once. Sometimes I do one at a time. I do it slow, three sets of thirty and I get a decent burn.
@SunfoodWarrior
@SunfoodWarrior 8 лет назад
+Sylvester White I'm experimenting with different angles to increase weight..Today I did one leg calf raises with my back against the wall and in a parallel squat position.. That's pretty intense for me right now
@MrTone075

Outstanding! Thank you so much for this video. I turn 52 this year. I am 5'7" tall. Last May, I weighed 218.5 pounds. Today, I weigh 175. I'm going to break my body down to 150, possibly 140, then I begin to rebuild lean mass and my goal is to get my body into the same shape as yours. And, yeah, I'm vegan, too. Thank you again for this very inspirational video.

Every calisthenics bar park needs a person like this cool guy to coach, mentor newbies. The city would employ him as a trainer and pay him a salary. He could be available 10 hrs per week during the peak times at the park. Would be a huge success as many people are intimidated by the bars. Peace!

UHHH.....dude.. Tell us about YOUR Vegan diet. I would love to gain some muscle and if you are maintaining a 220lb weight then your diet has to have a lot of clean calories.
@ods1ODS
@ods1ODS 7 лет назад
luvbig41 it took quite a bit of trial and error but I figured out a few key principles. -bigger meals was key for gaining/maintaining weight. u gotta watch the macros though bc most vegan protein sources (aside from protein powders) are either very high in fat or very high in carbs. but if u can keep the fat content in check u should be good to go. -creative use of protein powders is a huge help. for example, I mix it in with my almond butter with a bit of almond milk to keep it moist. I also mix it in with smoothies and my almond milk when I have cereal. -I stick to the age old strategy of 3 big meals to gain or 4-4.5 smaller meals to lose. -but a few of my staples are these: quinoa mixed with vegan chili. Amy's makes a really good organic canned chilli. ur looking at about 700-800 calories for each of these meals. -natures path flax, pumpkin seed, granola cereal with protein infused almond milk. -almond butter n jelly sandwich with protein infused almond butter. -soba noodles with chick peas and. extra firm tofu cutlets. -sweet potatoes with brown rice and hummus. -Spanish rice and beans with avocado. -steel cut oats mixed with almond butter maple syrup and cinnamon. -beyond beef tacos. and that's just a few meals. soy is just fine to consume for men and its very high in protein.
@ods1ODS
@ods1ODS 7 лет назад
luvbig41 also I should mention I supplement with sublingual b 12 but oddly enough my levels are always high on my bloodwork with very minimal dosing (1-2× a week). I take vegetable based iron supplement m-w-f. I eat 3 kiwis a day for vitamin c, vitamin k, and other micros. I take a vegan d3 supplement 1-2× a week. and occasionally a zinc magnesium supplement 1x a week. I rely on carrots, red grapes, strawberries, blueberries, broccoli, and spinach for my veggies/fruits. they're all pretty low in calories and high in fiber. I also been taking beet root which is kinda unrelated to my vegan diet. testosterone levels are good. as are all other levels. it seems that a vegan diet will be very healthy going forward.

Good video. To all those commenting on his legs. If you're looking for a pull up to finish off that puts you in a strong position, turn through 90 degrees and take a close grip, one hand four inches in front of the other. You'll feel one shoulder naturally comes to the bar when you pull. You need to put the other hand in front to work the other side and range of motion. But it's a really good move that doesn't put a lot of strain on your bicep insertion because your hands in the sort of hammer curl position.
