on the 545RFE, the TCC valves are located in the pump and the springs for the valves like to break, I show you the spring that broke to cause the code. the springs should always be checked on these units, replacement springs are available through Sonnax. Thanks for watching.

Thanks Gary. It's nice that aftermarket companies make fixes for these types of problems.

Hi Gary, I noticed a similar question on a 08 Ram 2500. 68rfe 6.7 Cummins, this happened the last 2 times I made about a15 mi trip to the farm. Temp below 30 degrees, drove to the farm mostly in 5 gear to help warm up. Coming home an hour or so later put it in drive all the way home. About 5 miles toward home Ck engine light came on. Checked codes when I got home. P0700 & P0740. Cleared them the fist time. Happened again the other day, had the Snap On Versus with me, hooked it up, same codes again. Left it hooked up so I have some data pids ( not sure how to interpret them). I don’t notice missing shifts or anything abnormal, I was driving in a snow packed country rd. The only issue I had notice before was, if I didn’t let it warmup before I drove it it sometimes didn’t want to unlock for a stop sign at the end of the street. Had to bump into neutral or coast through the intersection. It was fine after a mile or so. Do you think it would have a 60% or greater chance that putting a Sonnax rebuilt valve body in it could fix it. Thanks

I had a P0740 on my 2004 Durango 5.7, 545rfe, for well over a year. Replaced sensors, valve body and solenoid pack. Anyway, moisture / water was getting in my trans fluid through the old pan, 224,000 miles on it. Long story short, moisture/water caused my P0740. I fixed it by flushing and draining.

2005 5r55s and in a mountaineer. Watched all your videos I could.. no 2nd or OD. Rest of gears work fine. Checked servo closest to bell, bore guage pins very nice and rubber piston seal is nice also. Dropped the pan and pulled solenoid pack and checked every solenoid for function and ohms and they're good. Pulled entire valve body and completely disassembled, checked every part and reassembled. Gasket plate is good also. Able to see adjustment side of OD band and put pressure on it from both sides, it's not broke. Reassembled, still same p0775 code and no 2nd or OD. No shavings to speak of. Tranny makes or never made any suspicious noise, went out on the highway. I'm going bald and losing my hair on this one. Any insight from you would be amazing.

Hi Gary. I have a 2011 Mazda BT50 Automatic. How do I know what type of gearbox it has in? Thanks a lot! Great videos!
@mitchriter570
No idea if you get to older video comments, 2010 Ram 2500 5.7, 545rfe. Have shudder when the trans goes into lockup, no other issues. TCC bore wear or maybe broken springs?

Garry, I notice in several of your videos when you're tearing down you put some bolts in the basket to your front left and then some of them you turn to your left and put them behind you, just curious as to why?

Hey Gary I have a 08 ram 1500 5.7 it won't move in any gear. I can feel it shift through gears but won't move. I've changed the solenoid pack and both filters but still nothing. There is no noise but when I try to put it back into park while running it grinds. Could it be the torque converter?

Hey Gary I have a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.7 and I am getting the P0740 code as well. All groups lead me to changing the Solenoid block should I get a valve unit complete or just the solenoid.

Gary, is the updated white connector solenoid pack and cam plate available from any quality aftermarket sources, or is this dealership only? It's a shame that such an inexpensive spring resulted in such a costly repair! Your transmission repair and rebuild will very likely outlast the rest of the Grand Cherokee. Nice work as always Gary!
