You want to hold onto that under lever when you break it because if anything was to happen you will lose the end of your finger in that breech,,I've seen it happen and it's not good.

Well, since 1995 I have been doing this the same way and still have all my fingers. The safety engages automatically when you prime it.

@@PaulBriden I was waiting to see a comment with someone telling you off for not holding the lever ignore them everyone seems to think there a expert I’ve been shooting since I could remember both air guns and firearms I’ve never seen a springer fail like they describe

Me neither, nor have I ever seen anyone with fingers missing. In my opinion typical social media scare mongering. A bandwagon that the masses love to jump on. On both my springers I have never seen the safety fail to engage. The HW 77 we use is a 1995 model which is 28 years old. My son has all his fingers, as does my ex wife and daughter. @@connor2dap884

So I cannot trust a safety catch and myself not to pull the trigger. If I follow your theory no soldier would ever carry a gun with bullets in it on partrol in a city. @@kwakamonkey

HW 77. One of the nicest rifles ever made. Mine is 2005 and like a piece of jewelry. Incredibly pellet on pellet accurate guns and super engineering.

You need to be holding the lever when loading an underlever or a barrel on a break barrel. Any argument against is not founded, and dont give it "I've been doing this forever", it just makes you look arrogant👍
@PaulBriden
@PaulBriden 9 месяцев назад
So what you are saying is the Safety catch on this rifle is not fit for purpose and does not work. That is what you are saying. The only arrogant one is yourself. Again, you are saying that Weihrauch a highly respected gun maker, makes safety catches that are not fit for purpose. That in itself is a libellous statement, you are saying it is not of merchantable quality or fit for purpose. This video is showing myself using my rifle, in no part of this video is there a generic instruction given. Thanks for your input.

As below, extremely dangerous practice and you shouldn’t be teaching people to cock a spring rifle and not hold onto the lever or barrel while loading the pellet. 👎
@PaulBriden
@PaulBriden 9 месяцев назад
So using your thought pattern we teach people not to trust a safety catch or trust the fact they will not pull the trigger. Extremely dangerous is social media scare mongering by people like you. How many times have you known an air rifle fire when the trigger has not been pulled or when the safety catch is on. If you are that worried you may as well not step out of your front door. Or to take it a step further in a different scenario, when soldiers are on patrol with live rounds they had better all walk in a horizontal line because they cannot trust the safety catch.

I have been an air gunner for over 50 years and safety while shooting is paramount. I belong to an air gun club and what do we teach new and young shooters, well first and foremost NEVER ever point a gun, loaded or unload at anyone and second, NEVER load a springer or gas ram without holding the cocking lever or barrel. Why? Well l don’t believe l need to tell you why as there are many documented incidents of shooters being badly injured and even loosing fingers. The safety catch is only one level of protection and when cocking a gun should only be taken as such. Would you be happy if l pointed a loaded gun at you saying, “oh don’t worry, the safety is on”.?? I know l wouldn’t., and you wouldn’t last long at our club if you did. Also, don’t forget, and this is very important, many springers don’t have auto safety catches so again, it should be second nature to hold the lever while loading and yes, most accidents are caused because people, without thinking, had their finger on the trigger and accidentally pulled it while putting the pellet in the barrel.

Please, I own my own firearms in the States and have fired more guns than you will ever know. Just do a name search and add guns. I am not talking about other Springers I am talking about the rifle I am shooting. Pointing a gun at anyone is the one thing we can agree on, a no no. What you do at your club is up to you, it is what makes the people around you happy and their choice, even though it sounds to me like there is no choice. However, I realise if you are dealing with rifles that do not have an auto safety that you can hear and see, and you are dealing with a group of excited people who you may not know, with generic rifles, then a generic safety policy is best practice, I do get that. The thing is you are applying generic rules to situation that is not this. Enjoy your shooting and great you are helping your people. @@Woodgate425

Okay we may have to beg to differ on this one. I did shoot 12 bore many years ago but now only sub 12 air guns so yes, you probably have shot 101 more guns than me. However, one thing we can agree on is that we both enjoy our sport and carry out whatever safety practices we feel are best. Cheers.

My air guns are sub. I have thought about FAC, however in this country in my opinion it is not worth it for what I need. If I did serious vermin control then it would be. Exactly, I do not like other people shooting around me for obvious reasons. I have never fired a shotgun. The nearest I have got to this is a black power flintlock doing clay pigeon shooting. It is just so different in America the whole package. Shooting ranges are as common as Tesco stores. You may or may not know that they use air guns in the states for what I would call small Vermin control , obviously there is not the risk of collateral damage there is with a bullet firing gun. In this country they just want to kill everything that is fun. @@Woodgate425
