Never going to happen. He's already 21, and he's just counter wrestler. Against top opponents, he's hard to score against, so he'll never be out of a match. But I've never been impressed with offensive skills.
hard to knock someones strategy when it got him to the world team. He uses his counter wrestling as his offense, nothing wrong with it. Not everyone has a David Taylor or Jordan burroughs blast double.
They expect him to score so statistically if he loses the first point that's 1 point in 1 period but 99% of the time they will put the opposing person on the shot clock the next period and then since Gilman was last to score he would win the match
@@tobiassanders3831 He better enjoy it because as soon as Spencer Lee enters freestlye this is going to be his weight class. I think Gilman and Fix are good wrestlers but I dont see either one of them winning a world title. Fix will get his chance , Gilman has had two trips to worlds getting a silver medal and then not placing. So Gilman got worse instead of getting better. Also Gilman gets flattened out on his shots, you dont wanna be laying on your face when taking a shot, thats why he got scored on and lost.
I loved Gilman’s intention to attack in final 30 seconds w the criteria in his favor. Where I didn’t like it was the execution; dove in from too far away, over-extended, completely flattened w head down. Always attack regardless score BUT the attack and finish must be executed well not what we witnessed here. I’m a Fix guy anyways but a shame Gilman went brain dead in last moments.
In wrestling, I've never seen a 2 point takedown call given when the other wrestler has a leg. Never. The Referee always breaks because it's a stalemate. Always. Why control was given to Fix was beyond belief.
I've watched 5 or 6 of Fix's matches and I have yet to see him shoot a takedown. He should be called for stalling every 30 seconds. Gillman deserves better.
Gilman takes too many bad shots, where is diving forward on his face and is flatened out. Makes it really easy for Fix to go around and get the takedown. Nothing against Gilman but his track record shows that he cant win the "BIG Matches". Never won an NCAA title and got 2nd at Worlds. I mean hes a great wrestler but reminds me of Mike Zaddick of Iowa from the ESPN documentary, a guy that just could never win a title.
That's hardly an "out there" statement. Lee is certainly better in folkstyle because he's great in all position, while Fix is great defensively. The only thing is that Lee's aggressive style could make him vulnerable to Fix, who never shoots.
i think 99% of the time if you have a leg its not a takedown. but also 99% of the time you dont cover your guy that cleanly if you have a leg. i think they made the right call that was a unique situation.
Fix exposed his back witch makes no sense how they gave the two points to him and Gilman had his leg the whole time. Horrible ref in this match. Fix is going to get his ass whooped at worlds!!
@@anklepick9524 they asked all of the wrestlers to say something (I think nice was kind of implied). So while everyone was saying stuff like "I love this guy's attitude, he's a great wrestler" or at the very least "It'll be a good match," Gilman said "my mom taught me right, and she taught me that if you don't have anything good to say, don't say it at all." He could have just said that he was excited for their match.
Gilman ate goat cheese milk prior to this and said I'm going to poop myself if I get a loss here I'm just to good for him but I do gotta use the restroom asap
Gilman needs to not get so extended on all of his shots. If you’re Fix, why press offensively if every time Gilman shoots he ends up on his belly holding on to an ankle for dear life
@@chadburke852 I'm not hating on Gilman. Pound-for-pound next to Sadulaev, Thomas Gilman has got to be one of the strongest guys in the world but he needs more in his repertoire to win a gold. Look at David Taylor and Kyle Dake you don't know what those guys are going to pull on you that's what makes them dangerous. Gilman is too straightforward and predictable his strength helps him to survive. If he can beat Spencer Lee in the trials he might have a chance for the gold in the 2021 Olympics or whenever they'll be.
