I interpret this as "you" being depression, and the gray nest 10 feet up is literally clouds but figuratively heaven/Nirvana/the afterlife, meaning the person succumbed to suicide. It seems the singer expects this transition to lead them to their eternal 5AM, dawn, a new beginning, a quiet and peaceful time- the serenity of heaven by whatever name. But perhaps it is not. At the end, perhaps it is the devil that they see (the "you" of this new phase of existence) because commonly religion persecutes those who take their own lives. Additionally crows are symbols of misfortune and death. I love how this song makes you think about what it is saying.

I know this is an old song but listening to it brings back so much nostalgia. I found so much comfort from this song and it's helped me when I was sad back in 6th grade. I was looking at old google slides I shared w friends I had at the time and I saw this song being mentioned so I came back to it. The memories were really bittersweet. One of the friends I left because they had too many mental problems that were triggering me, my partner ran away from their house and we lost contact, and the other was a toxic bsf I still have today. It was nice looking at the unfinished conversations that were typed out on the slides, art, ocs we shared, memes, ect. It just really makes me sad that w can't go back to that ever again because life happened. This song helps me cope in a way... Ik you probably won't see this but I still want to say, thank you. Edit: I also remember that when I felt down or had a bad day back then, I'd listen to this song on loop for hours lmao-

God this song is so incredible! And also the associated symbolism of the crow....it’s amazing how you took the crow’s symbol of mystery and calm and twisted it into the crow’s other meaning...death, decay, and sorrow. Just...god this is so great. THIS song reminds me of 5 am with how calm it is :)

I dont really know what the song is about but for me it reminds me of my relation between my brother and I, for me the "5 am" represents the connection between us, a calm and great place... and he destroyed it and it became a fearfull and sad place and now i cant see him without feeling bad and upset and I just want the "5am" to be back to normal... idk... but anyway i love this song so much !!a very few songs makes me emotional and its one of them, im really glad i discover your channel ! @@sooooooot If it helps any, I was the little sibling this sort of scenario with a manipulative and/or abusive parent. I don't blame my siblings for leaving and I'm glad they got out, even if it meant leaving me for two or three years. They were able to help me once they helped themselves, and I couldn't have left without their help. They've also been really important to my recovery and we are a really close family now when living with my dad rather than my mother.

Holy fuck. I only stumbled upon your channel now, but this song is amazing. The song itself sounds as if it came out of a dream; it's very haunting and has a dark, melancholic feel to it. I love the lyrics as well - there's some subtle rhyming that jumps out at me ("With your hollow eyes" / "With your countless lies", "I looked away" / "I couldn't stay"). The more I listen to this, the more connections I can make between lyrics, and I absolutely love that. And the visuals?? They pair with the foreboding feeling of the song perfectly, and the contrast between real footage and drawings make it all the more surreal. I actually got chills around 2:27 and the instrumental part that follows after once I realized what the footage was of. It's mesmerizing, in a way. Tl;dr a lot of rambling, but I'm in love with this song ^^ I'll definitely be checking out your other work, and I'll be on the lookout for more of your content in the future! I wish you luck!!

I know I'm years late, but this just popped into my recommended and I needed to talk about how familiar it felt. When I was a child (6-9 years old), when both me and my dad couldn't sleep, we'd go downstairs at 5AM and binge watch shows and we had a lot of fun doing it. But, when I got older, we started to not do that since we just had different ideas on what to watch. And, I started to dislike my dad since I felt like he was still acting like I was a toddler and not a pre-teen and all his expectations for me were contradicting. This still hasn't ended, but I feel like it's gotten better. Still, this song reminds me of the fun we had and then the anger and hatred that came after it. Hehe, sorry for that sad and boring wall of text, I just felt like I had to get this down. Also, I watched this at 5AM and it was fun. :)
