Now that is thinking outside the box. Saves table space allowing more parts to be set up for next operation, speed is money. a method to mount soft jaws for second and third set up would be a good option to incorporate into jaw design.
Not really. These vises are extremely well made. The self centering aspect is ideal for machining on 5 axis mills. Most machine shops that do 5 axis machining use these vises, including us.
Nope, you can take MASSIVE cuts in softer materials given a sufficiently rigid machine and setup. Running similar cut parameters now on my CNC lathe. 20HP goes a long way in Aluminum.
I spent 6 months as an assistant operator on a big (220 ton workpiece) lathe and the chips coming off it during roughing were probably half the size of that vice
@@3markaw The drawing is protected anyways. But you do need a few overall specifications so that you can model it, for your programming. Your tools have to know where the vise is, to not hit it.
