As one of the 5 people that needed this, thx. I just finished doing mine. I had to remove the garnish to attend to some rust happening in the 2 corners. Happens when the garnish rubs the paint off. Cleaned it up, painted it, put some 3M abrasion tape over it and good to go. I also added a thin plastic washer on those bolts to push the garnish out just a millimeter or two so it won’t rub in the future. That garnish removal is the most painful DIY I’ve done on my truck and let me tell you, I’ve done a lot to this thing. Thx for a great video👍🏻

Nice! You're so handy. :) Those little plastic buttons break over time. The ones holding my driver's door panel did and the it kept falling down and trapping me inside. I had to climb out the passenger side, with arthritic knees, and those seat belt receivers stand straight up. Ouch! I was going to take Monty, my 2009 Pontiac Montana van, to the garage, but my son fixed it with two packages of new buttons and a lot of muscle, sweat and a few choice words. When my engine light went on and my AC turned off to save the engine, it turned out I needed engine coolant. When my battery wouldn't hold a charge, it turned out to be a cracked battery connector and not enough driving. I'm not handy, but I have a good mechanic that only fixes what needs fixing. All I know how to do is change out the air filter and cabin filter, check the dipsticks and coolant reservoir. So much to learn about !

Great job 😁👍. I have also used RU-vid Uni. to repair a drooping rear wiper, remove the stow-n-go seats in my T&C minivan and to "break" into my van when the doors locked with my key fob on the driver's seat! 😲 We were camping in a remote location about 5 miles down a dirt road away from any towns about dusk. It all turn out okay 😊 fortunately. AND those are just the things related to "camping" van! Thanks for sharing, I always enjoy and learn from your videos.

Martha, those could work loose again, so get some lock-tight to keep those from falling off, I don't know why Toyota doesn't do that at the factory.

Thank you for this video! I'm one of the 5 people who need to tackle this job too, there is something rattling around in my back door. I hear it every time I need to open it. Too bad you couldn't find that missing nut... the roads you drive sometimes will surely loosen it wherever it's lodged in now! LOL! I also hit the dirt roads in my travels too!

Great job! x2 on loctite for future jobs. (probably not needed for this - although the nuts did come off!) The lightest strength version of loctite is nice to have in your toolbox.

Jumping in even with the nut noise gone proved to be a good thing. I don't have a 4Runner but just learned here that the lift area for the hatch is called a "garnish" WTH? Who knew? I first thought it was the name on something Toyota related. But nope. Ha. Did you already know that or did you come across that term?

Next time put a dot of nail polish on the threads. It works the same way as Loctite. Just a little dot will hold it into place and the vibrations won’t loose them.
