The thread size of icp is #4 jic hydraulic fitting. I went to a local hydraulic supply and they had one

Wouldnt it be easier to install air to the ipr port and check pressure with scan tool on icp at the same time?

5:58 303-450 or 353-450 i believe is the tool part # and doubles as a fuel pressure adapter as well.

The thread size is a 12M-1.50 male end. Hope that helps

I have the early 03 have the issue the when the engine is warmed don’t start But when is cold starts but is weir is no power loss no shaking no loud knocking sound . Put the air test I the IPR the weir thin is not noise what can be wrong !! No engine codes noting!! The HPOP maybe is bad !

12 x 1.5mm for the ICP in the passenger head. I could not screw a new ICP in my older model 04, with the ICP at the back of the engine.

A6.0 is still better than a 6.4 all day long lol

I'm having a hot no start on my 04 6.0. The oil pump has been replaced in the last 15,000 miles and the truck sat for a bit due to having a egr cooler failure. After I installed a egr delete the truck turned on and ran fine. Now I'm having the hot no start issue. Would you say it's most likely the pump? Or more likely to be the dummy plugs/standpipes? I would do the test but I dont have the equipment for that at the moment. The truck has 260k miles on it. Only work that's been done to it has been by the ford dealership which was a new turbo, new hpop. the egr delete I did. If I replace the dummy plugs and stand pipes can I visually see if the orings were leaking?

Memories, memories, memories of years gone by, and making my share turning wrenches on these 6.0s. My favourite was what I called the 6.0L diesel "tune-up", replacing EGR and oil coolers.....except on E-Series applications.

accurate diesel adapter to replace ipr for leak testing. Vgt or 7.3 injector pigtails will work to latch on the ipr solenoid.

Great video to really help people understand the air leak test on these engines! I would also like to point out what I tend to find a lot more than rail and dummy plugs anymore as these engines age is the nipple cup seals going bad and shooting the high pressure oil around the cups and down onto the top injector o ring causing the leak point. Last 3 engines I’ve done have all had the cup seals leak from high mileage and age.

good vid - can this be done with the oil housing off?

Working on this very problem right now replace HPOP, stand pipes, oil cooler, IPR valve and still leaking somewhere as no start getting tired of messing with it.

i have 05 f250 with 6.0 after i apply power to the ipr and add air to system, i hear a air leak on the high-pressure oil pump dump hole. is that normal or should it be fully sealed after power is added? i hear it really loud when no power is added which i know is normal but leak is less when power added

Could this cause your truck not to start?

I made my air fitting to connect to the rail pressure sensor port out of a wheel stud from a 1996 Volkswagen Jetta. The taper was perfect and I've been using it 15 years no issues, even the same oring I started with.

I bench tested the oil rail with the injectors securely mounted on the oil nippels. Air is passing through the small hole near the injector hold down location index slot. All four leak. Is this normal?

Have you ever had a no start after truck is hot ? If so what's usually the problem?

I working on HPOP on 6.0 … n my helper hear air leak by gear front seal while PSI … is it normal or need replace it Hpop is on engine and torque down and 2 new O rings

Had an early 03 with hot no start at 165,000 . Replaced the HPOP and J tube and still had no start. Turned out being 1 injector had a bad o ring on top. Went ahead and replaced all injectors at that point. Has run great ever since. 235,000 now. Love my 6.0.

ICP sensor is 12mm 1.5 pitch

I hook up my air line to the ICP port and I cant hear any air coming out of the oil filler tube or even running through the system. What might that be?

Thanks for the video. I hired a professional to look at mine. He couldn’t figure it out and gave up. Had no suggestions or ideas. Oil pressure was only getting up to about 350 when cranking. He replaced IPR and HPOP. Added 150 psi of air pressure and no leaks. It held at that for more than 15 minutes. But when cranking, oil pressure can only get to about 380 psi. Did the air test again and still holds air. We couldnt hear any air leaks, Checked all the injectors, dummy plugs, seals etc. even used stethoscope. no leaks. I’m frustrated. Have you ever experienced this? Do you have any suggestions? Thanks!

Great video! I ordered all the proper fittings but I still hear a small gurgle coming from lower end of block any ideas? Here’s a what I’ve done to it myself. Replaced ball cups and o rings, replaced all glow plugs, replaced ipr sensor and icp, did egr delete, replaced glow plug harness, and I had 2 injectors that had bad o rings from ball cups

Okay I’m try an ask you a question that I can’t understand. I have seen tons of videos and have read lots of books but still can’t figure this out. When air testing I hear leakage from the front seal on my 2004 and my 2003 Ford desiels with 6.0 In then. Both have the aluminum housing pumps. One of them leaks air from the front shaft seal by the gear. The book I read from ford says that it’s okay and should not be replaced but I read that way later in my journey. The other doesn’t leak from the front seal on the pump but I could hear a rush of air with the Hpop cover on. I’m applying air through the IPR with my special tool that has a hose and a gauge with a valve at the end. Im confused cause why do people say that it’s not supposed to leak from the shaft seal but the books says that it may an if it does when checking for leaks that the pump shouldn’t get replaced. I took the cover off the pump I heard air rushing from the pump cover and Got a hose an 2 couplings while leaving the J-Tube that mounts on top of the pump secured it so I can apply air the same way as if the cover was on but I don’t hear the massive amount of air. But I do hear a soft burping which I have a video of . That air is coming from the inlet port of the pump as it travels through Hpop reservoir and it’s coming out where the filter was. It’s not a rush of air but this is another confusion to me cause I’m under the impression that no air should be coming because it’s a inlet passage not an outlet passage. So is some seepage allowed? And if the book says that the front shaft seal may leak the pump is not bad then what amount of pressure is allowed . I’m thinking it should be simple apply air through IPR an if it leaks air correct issue of leak but I’ve replaced these pumps on both trucks and bench tested them. And it doesn’t add up. I’m think mine is supposed to be like your motor applying air through the IPR . I shouldn’t be hearing any air at all but a total of 4 pumps 2 that were brand new leaked air through the inlet one being slightly but not heavy amount of air and yet 3 out of 4 leak from the shaft seal. An if there is seepage with just shop air coming from the oil filter even from 2 new pumps. I being an aftermarket but new and the other was from the Ford factory . I wanted a new one but they only sold reman Hpop pumps. It’s very expensive trying to understand this an it’s costing lots of time. Cause if there is seepage at lower pressure wouldnt there a massive amount of volume of oil backfeeding when the vehicle is running that can produce air preventing a no start cause of air in the oil system even if the trucks build pressure.

Hey there, I have a very small leak on the top end of my 6.0 in the valley. I bought a oil filter billet cap so I could put air in hopes of pushing oil out of the leak so I can find it. Are you willing to tell me if it is safe to put air through the oil filter cap and if so how much psi? It is an external leak not an internal leak.

two things, can I just reseal the original dummy plug with orings and nylon washers? Also, when energizing the ipr valve, is it polarity sensitive?

Currently having this problem with my '05 6.0... It was running just fine. No issues, no problems. We stopped at a rest-stop and it wouldn't start again. Crank-No start. So we tested the ICP... if you read low pressure, it COULD be a bad ICP. If you disconnect it, the default in the computer is 750 psi... enough to get it to start. But it still didn't start, and the ICP is reading 100-250 psi. I have already (previously) replaced the injectors, the standpipes and dummy plugs... everything is brand new and of the updated style. I have also, just recently, replaced the LPOP regulator... and I can see the correct pressure on the Low Pressure Oil System. That leaves me with the STC, IPR, or HPOP. I was trying to understand how to test all those, without "shotgun mechanic" practices. This video helps ... I will build an air fitting and a jumper for the IPR. I'll pressure test the IPR and listen for the STC... That should help me know where I am with this repair. Thanks Much!

Would a failed stc fitting cause no oil getting up to the oil filter housing? No oil on gauge while cranking. No start hot or cold. 85% ipr 13 psi icp cranking. Died while idling no reason to believe lpop failed. Just trying to pick a direction before tearing apart
