I get a lot of questions on my website. Most are about a no start on the 6.0 and deal with the high pressure system. So I made this video hoping to break it down and explain what is going on and how it works. Well as much as I could without making an epic movie.

This guy Ron is a blessing, i haven't watched a video in years from him, but today, my 07 cranked for quite a while before firing. I needed a refresher course of my fuel system to help figure it out. If the family still reads these, i want to say thank you for keeping them up. I appreciate it

Best videos on 6.0, hands down. Of course I now have a problem and have nit tried.to diagnose. Trucks been sitting to save on fuel and battery was getting low. Jumped it and truck started and drove around to charge. Next day, crank no start (good film, good ipr, only 85@ icp). Weird happened over night and now same crank no start????

I've been watching your videos for years and you've helped fix a lot of problems on my own with my '05 f250 6.0. My problem now after two years of Zero problems including many thousand mile road trips I've noticed now that when getting into the pedal at about 2500-3k rpm it sounds like it's not getting fuel and sound strained. Any help would be great. Guessing FICM which is stock. Upgrades arp head studs, new head gaskets, cat/muff delete, K&N intake, 6.4 banjo bolt, mbrp 4" straight pipe 6"outlet, egr deleted, blue spring , coolant filtration. just telling what's on truck if anyone has a good guess let me know. Sluggish at high rpm. Normal driving no problem. But I've put $ in this truck and it's fun to get on it without something breaking finally

Hi Ron, I have a 2006 f250 6.0 with approx 160k miles on it. The problem I'm having is its blowing white smoke just after startup, after a short while it would clear up. Lately it's been smoking more still white smoke. I bullet proofed the egr with a Sinister egr cooler, replaced the Hpop, new ficm, and IPC. The truck runs great with no check engine light, I haven't checked for codes yet, could you please point me in the right direction. Thanks, Sonny

I bought a 6.0 about 2 years ago... I have brought it to every shop in town and each one has charged me up to 3 grand everytime i get it fixed... my hpop has gone out 2 times immediately after being installed my injectors have been replaced, as well as the fuel pump on the engine I cleaned out my ebp sensor and the line that runs to it but still nothing guys I had got it out of the shop last in October of 2018 and about a week later it dies on me I haven't touched it since then kinda upset that no matter how much I put into it I only make it a few feet before breaking down again, ive exhausted all my funding and cant afford parts nor labor and im willing to make a few videos on it any ideas what I could be fighting its a 2003 f350 powerstroke
@briansmobile1
@briansmobile1 5 лет назад
You didn't even have to say it's a 2003 at the end. That was figured out when you said the the hpop went out 2 times. If you have aftermarket (non Ford) injectors that's likely your trouble. The O-rings Ford uses work. All others don't for whatever reason.

Ron, I have a 2005 6.0 that I'm racking my brain on. I bought the truck with a blown EGR cooler (misdiagnosed by a "shop" as HG), and got all that done thanks to your videos. Now, it won't run for more than 15 minutes, and will not restart until at least overnight. The FICM is good, and I've changed the IPR screen (it wasn't very dirty at all, but changed it just to be sure, with no change in condition). The ICP is good (800+ when attempting to start), even when it won't restart. I can command the IPR to a higher percentage, which results in the ICP increasing, but it still won't restart. Fuel pressure is constantly near 60 psi, even when it won't restart. Fuel bowl quickly refills after being drained. I feel confident that it's not a HPOP system issue due. The oil is fresh. Motorcraft oil & fuel filters. FICM sync & CKP/CMP sync both show good on the scanner. I have recorded all the data points the past few times I've started it, up till the moment it dies, if you want any more info. Thank you for any help you can give!!

I have a 04 6.0 that runs great and starts fine. But once it warms up you can't shut it off because it won't start until you let it cool down. I recently had all injectors replaced with ford injectors on passenger side. the guy that worked on it said that number 8 shows as weak. But it still has the problem of no start while hot. I have been told that it could be my high pressure oil pump or the number 8 injector. Where should I start?
@DieselTechRon
@DieselTechRon 8 лет назад
03'04 may have a weak hpop. a bad ipr should leave a 2623 code and stall. no performance issues so it probably has good base. if the injectors are aftermarket I see 70-80% success rate. most 6.0 shops will not use aftermarket injectors or any chinese parts. i would air leak it. no leaks, inspect the ipr screen. replace with oe if restricted. all passes. most likely the hpop. replace the coupler tube. dont use chinese seals

ONE more important detail. When everything is testing good but you still have problems, there is a good chance the rubber gasket has failed internally in the HFCM (fuel pump). If one compartment bleeds off to another, you'll have many of the same symptoms. The gasket fails just like the one in the fuel regulator does, eventually it fails to expand and contract with the metal. (WARNING: If you remove the gasket to inspect it, you have to replace it, it will unreliably re-seat it self, Order the Motorcraft gasket from RockAuto at $26 instead of the the Ford dealerships at over $50). Your fuel pressure can show around 50PSI if the lower rung on the gasket has failed. Also, clean the return line to the tank, it fills with sediment just like the bottom of the HFCM does, with will cause injector loading when fully clogged.

You can build your own ipr valve air test tool for 35 bucks. 10 for the fitting, 15 for a short hose, and 7 for the valve. You'll need one female air adapter to hook up your air but you can buy a air hose that comes with them you can pull them off. Crazy these companies want 140 bucks and up for theirs.

Hello. there, I need help with my 2006 Ford F150 5.4L. I bought this pickup not working thinking it would be an easy fix. Towed it home. no start no crank no communications codes, and I did not hear the gas pump, so I replaced that gas pump driver module above the spare tire. and still did not hear anything, So I replaced the powertrain control module, now when I turn on the key, I hear something like the gas pump, but still no crank, I found the little wire that goes to the started and kind of hot wired it, and it is starting nice that way, so it is not the starter, but now when I turn the key the anti theft light keeps blinking. And now when I plugin the code reader it says ALL STORED IN VEHICLE'S COMPUTER. What would you do next? I also have replaced all the relays in the fuse box. And I will not hold it against you if what ever you say I should do next, if it should not work. I 'm really open to any ideas. Or what would you do next? Please help me, I can not afford to have to tow it to the Ford dealer. anything will help, I know you are smart, thank you. Thank you for doing all the great videos, you are saving poor people a lot of money, big dealers have already a lot of money. Thank you from Calgary AB

Hi,Ron, your videos have been very beneficial. I have a specific issue that I don't think you have covered yet. I took your advise and purchased the scangauge II which is a great tool. Has helped a lot. But even with this, I've had this in the dealership tiwice and they have not been able to resolve the problem. My scenario is a is a hot no start. Anything over 165 degrees oil teemp, it will not start. When watching icp, during crank no start, the psi will hang between 15-25 PSI, and get no higher. As soon as the oil cools off, the vehicles starts and runs great. I have never seen a pressure register between 35-500 PSI. So I don't think I have a dummy plug, or leak anywhere and the dealership could not find any oil leaks. Their next step is to replace the pump, but that is expensive, and I'm just not convinced. I've watched the high pressure going down the road, and it is pumping great, very high pressure and low demand needed. It always starts cool, and has never died on me going down the road. It just does not sound like a pump issue. Oh, one more important piece of info. It also "always" starts hot if I try and restart it within a few seconds it will always restart, only if I let it sit a few minutes, only then will it NOT start while hot until it cools way down. Could it be starving for oil for some reason? Could the oil be draining back out while hot, but as long as I start immediately it's not a problem. What keeps oil up by the pump? Does low pressure pump serve the high pressure pump? Any helpful hints would be appreciated.

Helped me immensely with all my 6.0 issues. Walked me through step by step and explained what tools to use to ease the work. Always my first reference. Was really shocked when I found out about his passing some time ago.

Thanks Ron! That cleared some things up for me. So when you are checking for oil leaks it is best to use the ipr adapter that way you can test everything at once correct?

Jesus Gorra he passed away so he won’t be getting back. RIP Ron. Have you checked your fuel filters? Specifically the inline under the driver door? That’s what stopped mine. Good luck.
