Hi, I have an 06 F350 6.0 that has a stalling issue. Initially was random but now I know when it happens & can even repeat the stalling. Retires right up no problems. Foot on brake, shift to drive & press accelerator pedal & rev up to 1k-1500 rpms....while holding brake, pull foot off accelerator & she dies
This reinforced my decision to replace the pressure switch. My drain tube was leaking bad and it was leaking so much oil that I just ordered a new tube, HPOP gasket, pressure switch, glow plug harness (seeping oil), and a bunch of miscellaneous odds and ends. Truck is my daily driver and I just replaced injectors and icp. I couldn’t afford anymore down time as I rely heavily on my truck so I’m going completely through it to cover my ass. I love the power but I should have bought the 7.3 sitting next to it
Once you get on top of it with quality seals theres nothing to worry about. Run a good quality coolant (not ford gold), replace your degas coolant cap , add a coolant filter, delete egr, and replace the oil cooler with a known high flow or do the bulletproof remote cooler as the time comes. And arp headstuds are good but if you keep the stock tune and watch everything else mentioned you wont have issues. Oh yeah run a synthetic like rotella t6 (stay on top of fluid and filters)and and diesel additive like stanadyne lubricity formula to get the most life out of those injectors. You can get some more life out of some with stiction with revx or hotshots but the damage is done. Oh and also watch the batteries, a bad battery can kill the injectors and ficm I've read. Get a tuner to watch your deltas. Now that I type all of this out it does sound like an awful lot of energy haha.
Josh, I have a 2003 6.0 that just went through a complete rebuild to a failed lifter. Everything is new, but I am losing oil pressure on the low side, and I keep getting drain back under the oil filter. After the truck sits, the oil filter is dry. Anti-flow back is good, using a Motorcraft filter. I'm getting a long crank but will start. Once it starts, it runs good. The LPOP is new, cover and seals are all good with no grooves or damage. New high flow oil cooler.
Thanks for the video. I just bought that pressure switch earlier today because I think mine is leaking. A couple of days ago my oil pressure gauge started dropping to zero at idle after the engine reached operating temp. It's fine under throttle and ICP is reading good, but I'm a little concerned that it may be the beginning of the end for the HPOP. I have an early '04 model F-450. It was time for an oil change, so I made that happen after it started acting up. The drain plug magnet had a small piece of metal on it, and there was a small piece of plastic in the filter housing from an unknown source. I just bought the truck, so I'm discovering all it's little issues. Any thoughts?
Just recently rebuilt motor and recently had engine start to leak in front and rear but did a Xtreme diesel cooler and gaskets seems to be getting worse getting frustrated with it
Thanks for the video. I do have a question about my 2005 F-250 powerstroke. I spotted fluid on the frame toward the front of the motor it is in front of the driver side tire and I took a look at it and I can't seem to find anything that would show where is it leaking. Can you help me. Thanks.
I can’t find my main oil leak…found one and it was the passenger valve cover gasket…I see that same oil spot on the ground but can’t trace it…the track bar is also full of oil and the underside of the intercooler manifold a the clamps.
Thanks for your video’s you’re good! Got one question for you if you have time I recently had gas put in my truck and I drove it and it quit, I took a part and found bad ipr from orings on three injectors replaced all went to turn over with injectors out and clean out top of cylinder and it pumps oil on compression stroke is that normal ?
Hi good job buddy have a cuestión my lower oil pump no getting any oil from oil pan you think needs gaskets replace on the upper belly pan end the oil tube let me know what you think please
I have a major oil leak, the mechanic said to START with valve cover gaskets and go from there. I'm mechanically inclined and will attempt this myself. Most of the leaks are on the driver's side. Any tips/ ideas on where to start out should I just pull the top of the motor and dive deep into it?
03 stock. Oil cooler replaced , the oil sensor under turbo blew out shortly after ( 800 mi. ) so replaced and no issues until temp dropped -20 f and now oil leak from top side but only in sub temps. Any idea where i should look?.
2002 6.0 Diesel 4x4 lariat Automatic Crew cab Oil leak from rear engine near turbo charger but see no oil on top of engine. Coolant and oil do not show any contaminants of oil and water or water and no smoke out of the exhaust pipe. Went to start after glow plug turned off, then started vehicle, gave it gas because the rear tires were of the end of the three inch pavement and when I got the rear tire onto pavement I placed in Park and observed oil leak pouring down very top of driver side of bell housing. What could be my problem? Thanks Steven
Good evening , I recently purchased an '06 F350 with a 6.0 and it appears that oil is leaking from the rear of both heads. from what I have been reading this is not likely as there is no oil pressure in the heads other than just drain back holes. any input sir would be greatly appreciated . Thank you, k/r, Jeff
Great video. I have a 300000 miles 6.0 with a big leak somewhere and will try to find it using this video. I was planning on removing the fender liners today and washing everything with brake cleaner to find it, but will try your method first. Any comments you may have I appreciate.
I'm having the same problem but can not find where it is. I replaced all the seniors when I redid the oil cooler, but to no avail could this be coming from the standpipes?
I have a 2003 6.0 diesel truck that's leaking from the back bottom of the engine when I turns iton on .Could you tell me why and where would it be COMING from only leaks when I trun the engine on.Thank you
Josh, I just had Ford replace my AC compressor and accumulator, glow plugs and harness, turbo a year ago, cold side CAC tube drove for 467 miles the AC seemed to work above 40 mph when I stopped for a light or slowed below 40 it starts to blow warm air and is now blowing oil to the top of the hood and over heating any ideas?
thanks for the video. I have a question about the billet oil filter cap you mentioned. when you install the air fitting on the cap what psi should be used? last thing i would want is to push out an internal seal by forcing too much air psi through the cap.
I have a leak just just appears to be coming from around the lowest starter bolt it almost looks like transmission fluid but it’s kinda hard to tell. Any suggestions
I got a oil leak on the passenger side keeps on running down beside behind the head and I want to know if you can give me some pointers how to fix this
I have a problem The 6.0 runs great no issues when on the freeway but when at a light at idle I get a low oil pressure light I rev it up just a couple rpm’s and it goes away What do you think?
I have an 04 6.0 power stroke I have a bad oil leak took it to my mechanic and his thoughts were I need an engine reseal I don’t think that’s the case the oil leaks just like that trk in the video can’t see oil in the top like you did what are your thoughts
Hey I have a 6.0 2005 ford excursion. I made a turn to get on The interstate and made a hard explanation and then heard a high pitch noise then started dumping oil some were from the top back side of my engine. So much the my oil pressure dropped and my injectors wouldn't fire. So far I have removed the turbo and the inlet and drain tubes look good. What else could cause that sudden massive oil spray?

Have 2005 Ford 6.0L, that is leaking from the top left rear (driverside). I can't find the leak. Do you have an ideal where that leak could be coming from?
Goodmorning my truck is leaking around the oil cooler housing does that mean the oil cooler is bad to or just need to replace the gasket on the housing
So I’m leaking very small amounts of oil from my oil pan. Not sure if it’s because my oil cooler needs to be replaced or what. I made an appointment to get my oil cooler replaced but I’m not sure if that’s why it’s leaking. Any thoughts on why it would be leaking? Thanks
i have a small oil leak coming from somewhere. i have oil on the harness behind the alternator and oil down on my transfer case dripping off there not a bunch a couple drips here and there. do you think it could be bad turbo or bad oil cooler? im debating on selling the truck cuz it cost to much to maintain. the truck is a 07 6.0 with 87k miles on it. if i could get the truck running right and fix it myself and not cost me an arm and leg i might keep it not sure yet.
Brother man..... I need your advice PLEASE. Earily 03 lariat 6.0.... starts dies starts dies starts and runs...... went to burgerking shut her off and no start..... waited about 20 min and it started but ran super rough.... made it home 2 miles and now a no start even with the dreaded starting fluid. How can I get ahold of you and talk with you about a turbo that I replaced on my 05 and then have low boost and while sitting at a red light I have blue gray smoke that comes out and if I put it in neutral and step on the throttle a few times it goes away. How can I get ahold of you to discuss this issue to see if you have any suggestions?
hi josh, i have a 06 f250 6.0 i keep getting a p2199 intake air temp 1/2 correlation. any suggestions on how to diagnose / repair. i have Auto enguinity with ford enhanced and a scan gauge 2 thanks
Chris K. Usually this is a soft code. But I'll tell you how to diagnose anyway. You have 2 air intake temp sensors. 1 is in the air intake at the air filter. Second is behind the fuel filter on the intake manifold. What you do is use your AE or a scan gauge and look at the temp differences between the 2. Usually it throws that code when then 2 sensors have a 20 degree difference between the 2. Let the truck sit over night and in the morning look at the 2 sensors with key on engine off and compare them to ambient temperature outside. Water temp, oil temp, air temp 1 and 2 should all be about the same. But if 1 sensor sticks out to have a big difference in temp then change that sensor.
What can be causing my oil pressure censor to be going out I've changed it twice on my 2005 F250 6.0 it would just crank but wouldnt start changed the censor and it ran fine for a month and now it went out changed today and its running again im confused whats your opinion Doc ?
hello doctor, a separate question for you. I have a very high oil / coolant delta. I changed the oil cooler and still have the same problem. I did use an aftermarket cooler, my bad, but still I would expect to have received a little life from the new cooler. So i feel that there is something else that i missed. what are other causes for high temp delta?
Not sure if it is too late, but I had your issue. I bought this kit that allows you to back flush the oil cooler. I flushed mine for 24 hours. Man you should have seen the rust that came out. I noticed my deltas were better, but still high. I replaced the radiator with an aluminum one. Now it is 5 degrees or less. Also a coolant filter is perfect for the 6.0. The coolant I use is Peak Final charge Global
I have a question not related to this .i have an 03 Ford F-250 6.0 diesel.sometimes when I’m driving around 40 to 50 mph there’s a bog.loss power or fart sound coming from the driver side of engine but can’t find the problem.
So I made the mistake of ordering a cheaper oil cooler and egr cooler packaged together before doing adequate research. From what I've heard you on your videos and others seems to be a concern with the gaskets. My question would be, is it just gaskets or o-rings that cause problems or is it the components themselves?
cdyoude any aftermarket oil cooler is garbage. From the orings not sealing properly and designed to handle the heat. To oil coolers themselves cracking.
I have a 2004 F250 in my shop and the valley is covered in oil along with the front cover. I suspect that the seals have failed on the oil cooler cover. Owner has had the truck since 2015 and has not changed the oil cooler, but there is evidence of the cooler or EGR being replaced. What are your thoughts?
6.0Doctor Did things kinda backwards, from your suggestion, lol I tore into it tonight and found that the seal between the oil cooler and oil filter housing had failed flat and become hard. This is leading me to check the rest of the seals in the oil cooler to make sure they’re not in the same shape. Thanks for replying and thank you for the videos! I’m having to rebuild the engine in my ‘05 Excursion and you’re videos took all of the guesswork out.
hi buddy, i just pulled my 04 apart to replace the hpop and noticed oil in the intake and on the turbo outlet. can the seals be replaced or do i need a new turbo. i am new to the 6.0
David Bennett that is completely normal. Your turbo is fine. The oil gets pulled from the driver side valve cover and gets sucked into the turbo to be burned.
have you had any trucks have leaks after doing a synthetic oil change with arch oil added on top, i have one in the front running down by the steering area and running down front axle any ideas?
i know this video is old but hopefully someone can answer me lol. so my truck has a huge oil leak however it only happens when i drive it. if i start the truck and let it idle nothing will happen however as soon as i take it for a drive and park it, it start leaking big time. anyone has any help. after seeing this video i will be checking my oil pressure switch could be the issue since apparently looks like it happens when i guess the oil gets pressure from driving.
have oil coming from valley down bell housing on drivers side checked drain back tube and its dry oil temp and pressure sensors are dry changed the icp and still leaking not sure where it could be coming from tried to clean it out but cant see where oil is coming out leaning towards bad oil cooler gaskets? and help would be great
I have a 2007 6.0 and every morning when I start my truck, it blows a mix of heavy white/blue smoke on idle & accelerating, I live in Miami, FL so the weather is always hot. the truck is only giving me a code of P0683. When the truck is fully warmed up ... the smoke stops but when I accelerate it smokes a little . What can this be ? Head Gasket? Turbo Seal ? Injector O ring? FICM ? PCM? Glow Plugs? PLEASE HELP ?? THANK YOU
I'm not the guy who posted this , but they all smoke on acceleration kick down , white smoke it can be timing , an injector/s , if you have lost power it can be head gasket (white smoke) ive been told all these things
@@jameswasher3938 Mainly from firing order and how the failure works. When you're not getting enough fuel pressure, and the injector intensifier piston is waiting for a huge amount of resistance from the fuel, it plows down and eventually destroys the injector. It's always crucial to make sure you scan for fuel pressure in order to ensure your injectors don't die. So, generally the driver side bank hits on second, middle, and ending firing order, resulting in those being the most commonly failed injectors. This isn't a science backed fact, it's just a common occurrence.
@@zmodem4619 Thanks... just getting into diesel work (for my own DIY). Btw, your name, Zmodem, is that from the old dial-up transfer protocol? Brings back memories if so.
05 6.0. Has oil all over the top of the hood. Pressure switch looks good. Same with turbo lines. Oil collected top of intake and around the elbow. But cleaned it up and can’t seem to find. Leak now
6.0Doctor Doesn’t appears too. I did oil cooler about 200 miles ago. But doesn’t look like the leaks coming from under the intake. Collecting oil on top of the intake. And I’ve yet to find any oil in the drive way. Just seems to be losing a lot while I drive. It sprays on the hood and the plastic piece on the back above turbo that hold the wires.
Hay I have a 2006 f350 power stroke. I have a leak it leaked about a quart in 5 days. It’s on the passenger side. Any clues or ideas where to start. I just bought the truck about 10 days ago
Hey I’m having trouble with my 6.0 bad oil leak on top of oil cooler. I have it taken apart right now. I see oil on drivers side of oil cooler passenger side is dry. I thought it was coming from turbo but it looked dry. Oil pressure switch looks dry.
Great video I have the worst oil leak ever I live on a road that has a big hill when it is running the oil leaks to the front or back of engine it depends witch way truck is facing up hill or down hill I went the other day to get oil and it took 2 gallons of oil I have a 2004 F350 6.0 any help would be appreciated Thanks Bob
I have the same issue. I bought the ipr socket from amazon and also the alliant power ipr seal kit. I am planning on resealing my ipr. But I was under the hood just a few minutes ago looking at the ipr and it looks awful dry around it. There is oil everywhere in the valley. So I am going to do as he shows and clean that up and run it and see if I can trace it. I rebuilt the turbo a few months ago and did the updated turbo drain and seal so I know that should be fine. I have it parked on a hill facing down so the oil is now coming from the front wheel parked. Used to go down the back. I am thinking it may be the pump and or oil cooler seal. This truck had apr headstuds, egr delete when I got it from my boss. Who bought a company and the truck came with it. Only 160k in kms. I did the turbo rebuild, one Injector, and the full ficm on his dime before he told me to take it. So I am into this for nothing. I will let you know what I find
