Raising the cab and ditching the heads for a set of Kill Devil diesel oringed heads. automedicgarage.com/ patreon.com/AutomedicGarage?u... / medicgarage automedicga... www.amazon.com/Camoo-Bleeder-...
I dropped my truck off here while they were in the middle of this job. Meeting these guys here and watching them work i knew these guys are the business. They did a dcr conversion on my 2019 super duty and did a phenomenal job. If you anywhere close to this shop and have a diesel truck, and you want top notch work and not getting racked over the coals like the dealership and other shops, this is the place to take your truck. Andrew and his guys knows what they doing.
KDD built an engine for me a few years ago. Glad to have had the opportunity to get it from him. Good people, and they do a thorough build leaving nothing to chance..
As a 6.0 owner and shade tree mechanic I have to say this video was AMAZING! Such a wealth of information and entertaining the whole time. Awesome content on your channel and I will be ordering some merch from you so hopefully you ship to Canada 🇨🇦 😁
Thanks for the compliment. I’ve got 2 more behind this one to do after I knock out some simple jobs plus when we start on the 6.0 shorty street truck build I think we’re gonna do it cab on and pull the motor so that I can go though how it goes for those who don’t have a lift.
I have a 2010 6.0 van.. 511,000 miles & never had a wrench on it... but it knocked a lifter out..(which they all eventually do).. took the drain plug out & part of a roller and a needle bearing were stuck to the magnet... I'm in the process of pulling the motor... its really not that bad of a job...
I just found this channel and love it!!! You are awesome and I thank you very much for how detailed you are and even letting us know the torque spec’s ( that info is gold). What exhaust is on this truck??
You can use a 3/4 socket to push down those injector clips. Ik the tools are designed for that but it ain’t exactly necessary, especially for someone who doesn’t do it everyday.
Do you think you'll ever do a video on a step-by-step procedure on how to do head studs with cab on. For us at home mechanics that don't have the shops.
Those were brand new KDD heads no need to check and if you were meaning to refer to the block deck surface no I did not, if the block was getting pulled yes I would have because it would have been going to the machine shop anyway. So be never had a block be out but heads in the other hand are the typical issue which is why I will not do a 6.0 head gasket job with factory heads anymore.
@@AutomedicGarage I was referring to the block surface. Thanks for clarifying. From watching how you go about the work, I can tell you are taking appropriate measures. I would not use stock heads either. Keep up the good work!
@@starhopper457 the truck had a performance tune put on it by the owner. It didn’t have headstuds therefore could not handle the higher boost and cylinder pressure so it stretched the factory torque to yield head bolts allowing the head to lift and the head gasket to fail.
what are your thoughts on doing a head gasket job with out removing the cab ? i had me t6.0 studed and blew gaskets again and my guy dont rmove the cab just seams like a lot of work
Mr Automedic, I've got a 2000 F350, 7.3 automation transmission that i bought new. It came from the factory with 215/85/16 tires which I have upgraded to 235/85/16. My speedometer is now approximately 3 mph off when I check it against a GPS. Do you have a computer or programmer to change the tire size in the trucks computer to 235/85/16? I know this may sound trivial to some but I'm meticulous about my vehicles being right and this speedometer being off drives me crazy!
Thanks for replying. I'm in the Chattanooga area and need to come over your way sometime in the next few weeks. I'll get in touch with you and coordinate a day and time when I'm heading your way.
So with the minimal coolant pressure rise would that not be the egr being cracked ?. Head gasket usueally keep rising. Also if you drain coolant 1st then you dont have to deal with the mess.
@@hankclingingsmith8707 you would smell coolant burn with the egr, see coolant burn through the exhaust, and it wouldn’t blow the degass cap off. I drained coolant, just didn’t pull block plugs

I got a leak around my oil pan on my 07 6.0. Just ordered a gasket set but I read on a forum you can drop the pan 1/2” and apply some sealant for temporary fix. Should I do that or just wait on the gasket set?
Not a lot. He’s running a Diablo sport tuner(not the best) with everything else being stock other than blue spring, exhaust the and the oringed heads. Maint thing here is that he doesn’t have to worry about headgasket problems anymore.
Why don't you push truck little bit forward so your not ducking and weaving and knocking your head into the lift big guy...I'm practically a midget so a guy like me would be fine ...lol... Just a couple feet makes a big difference while in surgery...lol... I love your videos and so jealous of your shop...
😭 dam im sorry guys i just really wanna rebuild my 6.0 but my stupid job lowered my pay from $22 to 18.11 an hr 😭 so im trying to put little money to the side
@@justindaniel5087 this job was 9k parts and labor. I charge $2500 labor for stud job but we also did oil cooler, stc, fan clutch, coolant filtration etc.
Put some respect on this mans name i would pay 10 grand for a brand new truck i ddnt really c or maybe i wasnt paying attention wats evrthyrhing he got done to the hoop
Im not following your comment or the lack thereof of correct spelling. What he got was stage 1 KDD heads, arp studs, complete oem top end gasket set, oem oil cooler, blue spring mod, new injector orings, stand pipes, dummy plugs, cooling fan clutch, S&B cab mounts, updated STC fitting. Bill was like $9500. Including the 3k labor.
I meant it sarcasticly as if to say i would say that truck has another 200 thousand easy. Next to one of these newer trucks with all the emissions its not a new truck i can take the comment down i apologize
Ur a great at wat u do im new and got a 04 6.0 as a gift 🎁 i wanna take care of it i live in parkersburg west virginia with a small roofing business is there a page where u can ask questions
