The 6.1 was my favorite engine when it first came out I remember seeing a charger srt8 I thought it was the coolest thing looked menacing

I picked up a 2010 SRT 6 spd Challenger last May and couldn’t be happier . The 6.1 is a phenomenal engine . Sounds good , runs like a scalded dog , reliable and gets decent mileage . Looking to stroke mine once my warranty expires .

I thoroughly enjoyed my 6.1L engine. With minimal bolt ons it ran great on the track. Fastest quarter mile at 3000 above sea level was 13.07

Altitude really makes a difference. I have raced 392 hemi's at that drag strip. At a mile high they run low 13s. I do good to break into the 12s.

I absolutely love my 6.1HEMI in my 2007 Charger SRT8 Super Bee. I have Dynatech Longtubes, intake, flowmaster mufflers, and Portotype custom tube. I have t had it dyno tuned yet, but will soon as well as supercharged. It’s a fun car and motor for sure. Awesome video

Thanks for another informative video 🤘🏻I have a 109000 miles on my 06 Jeep SRT8 and it’s the best vehicle I’ve ever owned 🇺🇸 had it for 10 years and the only issues I have had was three starters and a water pump.

those 5.7 & 6.1 are underrated man, can't go wrong with them they got so much potential!

The 6.1, is the best modern hemi. To me it sounds the best, it is the most reliable, it makes good power etc. The 6.2 in the hellcat, demon, and the 6.4 are based on the 6.1 for a reason.

The original srt8 charger is the best looking one imo

6.1 for life. I own a 2010 300 SRT8 and always get looks and compliments wherever i go. People are always stunned to see a SRT8 badge on a 300.

Great video!I have a 2006 6.1 SRT-8 with 129K miles, No issues other than a new Battery and right now I have a Ceck TPM message that pops up every now and then, other than that she rides beautiful!

After reading the title, made me cringe a bit.. my '12 chall 5.7 upper end took a 💩. Sent it to a shop to bore/stroke it to 6.1. After changing the oil after 1k mi break-in, car shuts off 20min from the house. Towed it back to shop and the way and fuse box under dash have shorted. Both have been swapped for new, and now my mechanic has to replace sensors. There is a very soft/mild custom ground cam in it, not sure if that's the culprit.. anyway love to check in from time to time to see how well your channel has progressed brother!! Love it!!! My '06 300 6.1 has a Spartan Plus (max torque) cam, performance heads, and ported intake manifold and kept the stock exhaust and gears for ~450 hp and 426 ft/lbs at the wheels. No 1/4 mile times yet but she's two tons of fun!

How it went from top of the mopar V8 line up from ‘05-‘10 to nearly forgotten is wild. Dudes with 5.7’s used to trip over themselves when guys parted out 6.1’s. I know, I used to be one. Now I have an OG ‘06 Charger SRT8.

Without the iconc 6.1 mill, we wouldn't have the mighty hellcats or demons and are the granddaddy of them all. Please give us more content on the 370s, and really does get neglected all around. I thought about getting a 392, but like it that not everyone has the 6.1 and is also rare to see here in AZ as well. Everyone gives her a lot of attention because of it, and gets thumbs up from the Hellcat and Scat owners all the time 💪🏼😎

I’m rocking a 6.1. Completely built the engine. There’s just not a huge base for it so it’s expensive. I got mine honed and trikes to a 426 with a big ol cam. Just waiting for the tune right now

I have a 2006 Chrysler 300 with a 6.1 based 426 stroker. And before I converted it, it's 0-60 was 3.8 with Mickey Thompsons

Carbon hood, front quarters and trunk, strip interior panels, back seats, back and trunk carpeting. Strip the dash down. Could see better times but then it essentially turns into a drag only.

Rebuilding mine now. Massive cam, hellcat lifters, Melling oil pump, all forged internals, 2300 Maggie with spray. The bad: Limited aftermarket PD blower support.

I ran a 6.1 for 5 years on 125 shot intake deleted resonates tune 503 560 torque ran 11.8s never had a issue accept one dead fan loved that motor and trans

If I was building any type of drag car with a Gen 3 it would have a 6.1 based block 426 using ported Big Gas 6.4 heads. It’s the perfect candidate for a mopar a body. If I didn’t have so many irons in the fire, I would already pulled the 440 out of my duster and done it. Too much power gets soaked up with these heavy platforms, part of the reason I’ve did very little to my 2010 challenger. Cars making 700hp and struggling to break into the 10’s.

Have a built 6.1 and love it daily it and still hurt feelings but it’s time to get in a ctsv

What’s your opinion on the 5.7? Also do you recommend disabling the eco mode. I do by shift the gear selector to - just once. Still get 8 gears but I here different things about the MDO

My 6.1 only has a stock diablosport i3 tune on it, but its still a blast to drive. At 3:14 I saw that other 6.1 and was wondering why they don't interview "that" driver. Sounded so beasty they had to tell him to turn it off...

I have a 6.1 Charger and they're pretty fun. I think Dodge should place the 6.1 in the new Chargers and have that be the new R/T. the 6.1 paired with the 8-speed would be a pretty quick car.

6.1 is a great motor, give it a cam and some nitrous , and they will fly. The Pistons are the weak link.

Got my 06 300 srt8 with 160k for $2500. Have about $1k in it with mods and maintained. Hellcat blower going on next year.

Question: Can you bore the 6.1 .035 over? Cause that would mean you can potentially turn it into a budget Hellcat as it has the same stroke and uses the same crankshaft if I'm not mistaken.

I’ve had my 6.1 for about 9 months now, (2008 Charger SRT8) it’s been great so far but I’ve got the car back at the dealer for trans service because it doesn’t shift into 3rd anymore smh

The 6.4 was based off of the 6.1 from what I heard and read... in my eyes you got to have a good foundation before you can improve so therefore 6.1 is terrific!!!!

I have a '07 6.1L Charger with a diablo canned tune, magnaflow catback, 275's all around and a transformer. I can't even manage to break into the 13s because I can't launch for shit. Bet a good set of drag radials would help, and if our drag strip was open to the public more than 6 or 7 times a year...

I came close to buying a 2014 SRT 8 instead of my 5.7, but dealer wouldn't come down 2k. Test driving it, didn't feel a huge difference. But I know they can be upgraded pretty nicely.

I have a 300c srt8 6.1 in the uk, cam, throttle, air hammer, kooks long tube, de-cat, straight pipes running with no crossover, getrag 3.06 lsd and uprated axles (mine snapped), intune, tranzformer, few other bits but nobody and i mean nobody in the uk touches them to tune them.... abby motorsports worked with HHP in the states to map mine but because the time difference it was hard for the guys. Have spoken to johan at hemi fever but just not got round to going much further. All my parts need to come from the US, just had a master cylinder go and took 8weeks to arrive. If any body knows anyone in the uk who would work with these then would be great to talk to them as i have so much i am still waiting to do, would love to go heads and blower but so much headache to find anybody here that works on them. The mechanics i can do but just dont have the time or space right now. Will be at santapod next year 😎
