This has solidified my goal to become an excellent black mage. I started as a black mage and was one all the way through Shadowbringers, but lost my nerve in Endwalker. No more! I just bought the new crafted caster gear and put materia in it and I'm gonna practice till I can do an Ultimate! 😤

@@the4thhorseman840 red mage isn’t as punishing in my opinion, it’s a lot simpler picking it up and you have a good amount of freedom with it, since this comment though I’ve been playing a lot more black mage and have gotten a much deeper understanding of it, I can’t speak so much about red mage though since I haven’t maxed it out yet

Double transpose is the correct opener. This opener is the spellspeed variant, which does less damage.

fight dependent. there's no static usage for triplecast as it depend on the amount of movements that mechs require you to do after your opener.

Take this from a BLM main. Unfortunalty BLM takes so many ressources to be effective. This video is a rotation showoff but in savage/ultimate situation, you need to build your stategy around the BLM so they can be effective. Moreover, you wouldn't be able to use your triple casts and swiftcasts this easily because you need to keep them for when you need to move during the mecanics. You need a perfect understaning of what your job does and put an insane amount of time building your fightingmap to adapt your rotation to every single fight. Do not think you can pick this job and be instantly effective with it. You will need time, patience, practice and failure in order to succeed. But when you finally reach this peak of performance, yes it is thrilling !

People put way, way, way too much emphasis on how "hard" the job is, it's literally always about optimal play. Every job is hard if you want to play optimally. At the end of the day, it's just a video game, and anyone can learn simple rotations. Calm down. This ain't engineering, or rocket science. And not everyone cares about ultimates either. I think telling people "don't pick it up you need hundreds of hours to even be efficient" is so terribly shxtty. Read the tool tip for each skill, practice and understand how it works(rotationally and mechanically), and be on your merry way. Literally every job ever. Just pick it up and have fun. You'll improve naturally with time.

@@sleeperboi8701BLM is that hardest job in the game, without equal. That's a fact, not an opinion. What you say may be true for some of the jobs. But, you can't just pick up BLM and go with the flow, you will be lost, not having fun and irrelevant to your party. If you think that you can have fun while dying on repeat, not bringing enough damage to your party and not being able to do a full rotation without screwing it up because you don't know the job well enough, well that's your call. Once again, that's an opinion of a veteran BLM player. Feel free to play the game as you wish. Just know you've been warned.

You can totally state your opinion without making someone feel bad for taking something seriously because it’s “just a video game at the end of the day.” He made total sense with his initial comment, which obv wasn’t directed to people like you who don’t want to do high end game content where being optimal with a job is necessary to clear. Tbh, I think you’re the one that needs to calm down haha. In no way did he say that you shouldn’t pick up this job unless you’re ready to put in hundreds of hours lol.

⁠⁠@@b34rly Get over your feelings. It’s a level 1 job. Not a job where you hit the ground running like Sage or Gunbreaker. It’s not a fact, it’s an opinion. You gatekeeping a job for no reason bc you want an ego boost is another reason why this canvass isn’t as good as ppl make it seem to be. I’ve been stressed being a healer way more than I have been with BLM. Bc healers have it rough, not DPS. That’s a fact, not an opinion. Black Mage is not that hard, and you calling everyone subpar is due for a report in-game tbh. Let ppl play. I see tons of black mages, you saying they’re all good? They don’t die as much as you think, Mr. Ego.

Mhh. My rotation looks a little differently. I allwaysw keep triple cast at bay, to make a "single target flare (dont know the name^^) + mana reg + fire 4 + single target flare" combo. Or: "str. flare + freeze and the other ice spell" combo. And hold the second triple cast back, in case that i need to make movements and attacks at the same time. Even the skill that activated the secondary effect of a skill am i only using once, for thunder. To proc it. And keep the other safe, so, that i have allways one when thunder is finished and can be reused with thunder (didnt saw much active use of the second load yet,). This way make probally some less dmg. But, it feels a little safer for me. Esspecial, if i dont have time to keep track of the cd of the skills.

So... is opening with Fire phase normal? I usually open with B3, B4, Thunder 2, then F3.

I love BLM. I also like 6 Fire IV in a rotation but it's been my experience that Paradox spam is faster. I open with blizzard 3 to blizzard 4 to fire 3 and paradox. Just keep the 3 umbral hearts and rinse repeat ice 3 and fire 3 with a paradox in between.

nah , if u wanted to do that in the first place u would rather skip b4 , no point on having the hearts, but even then both this and ur rotation is a hudge dps loss if u do the math

How is is became harder? It feels to me nearly the same as to shb (at last to the end). It feels even a little easier, because you dont need to activade the skill anymore, that allowed the use of fire 4/ice 4. And keeping track to it (i forgotted sometimes to use it and than wondered, why i can not use fire4)
