Anthony not for this application, but made me think of something you would love, have Julie order you a bag of “grip loc ties” zip ties you can unlock and reuse, and the inside has two tracks of rubber that contacts the wire or whatever your doing with it, and not the hard plastic..
Those are words you NEVER want to hear your wife say. 01:18😉 Actually I commend you guys, for how well you get along with each other, especially for the amount of time you spend together.
One of my 6.7’s is under warranty, Tasca ford quoted me 1700 dollars for rear brakes… truck has upper 80k miles I have ford factory 100k mile warranty at a cost of 3500, after the 6.0’s and 6.4’s I figured 3500 was cheep if catastrophic failure of fuel pump, or internal engine work..
I have run into to those pump leaking out the the pin holes/ Machining ports on the pump. Only found it with color die and a black light. It was a maxxforce 7 but same pump tho
Can’t wait to see if this fixes it, nothing to beat yourself up over, however I have to say, not sure what brought the truck in for the engine work, but you have to assume this was a preexisting condition, we have all see how you handle parts like this, I don’t think it was damaged while off truck, was this truck making oil before?? Would it run until it hydro locked under power and just started pushing oil out or up into combustion area?? Was it leaking enough to not see the oil level growing? I have never got into 6.4’s like I have the 6.0 , obviously the hpop on a 6.0 leaking would cause different problems?? Just pure curiosity on this one, and it makes me happy to see a mom and pop shop going to these lengths to make something right, I Promise everyone, a dealer would be blaming the customer or at least giving them the bill in its entirety for parts, and time, including the diagnosis hours, if they didn’t just send the man home with it as is, and if it caused massive damage it would have been on the customer…
I drove the truck a bunch before disassembly,, and I remember it being low on oil and I didn’t want to put new oil in cause we were rebuilding it anyways. Must’ve been a freak of nature that it started leaking during the build!!! This would’ve been a full payer if I didn’t forget those injectors!!! You remember that???
Put a fuel like on that pump An dead head the output an spin it with the bolt an see if it leaks just out of curiosity. Kind of like how you dead head a hpop out of the truck to test it
Hey Anthony during a refresh of my 250k 6.0 I had the cylinders honed to refresh them for new rings because they were in good condition. My pistons are measuring below spec on skirts and causing my piston to wall clearance to be .0045-.0056 is this too much?
I shoot for barely over .002 on clearance. You are a lil big,, but I have heard of guys honing diesels to .006 cause they like em loose!!! Lol. I obviously do not do that,, but I can’t say pushing 5 thou will hurt the engine.
@@AnthonyYoungblood thank you so much for your help! My 2003 pistons are coming in under spec on the skirt size when I use a micrometer. My smallest is 3.7353, most are around 3.7360-3.7368 They all have the coating still on the skirts. I wonder if a new piston from Mahle is closer to middle of spec at 3.7375”
You and everyone knows that seal is going to leak at some point, if it were going in a 180k mile truck, more that likely going to outrun the engine in a 6.4., it going in a superduty diesel overhauled truck?? Now your gambling, I say Anthony’s engine outruns the pump??
