So, noticed that there is a waiting list on the website, AKA "lead time" 4 to 6 weeks the only thing I would be concerned with is since you can't just go to the parts store to buy a new starter, when your custom starter goes out, (as it will eventually) how long would you have to wait to get another starter, (plus what the price might be for a custom starter) with custom fabricated hardware.
Seems like a whole lot of work for doing something as stupid as not using the 7 dollar starter motor support bracket… I’ve had at least a dozen 6.2/6.5 trucks over the years and have never had a broken block, or stripped starter hole. Excellent product as usual though! Much easier than trying to find someone willing to weld a block these days. Snap-On makes an absolutely AWESOME dowel pin puller, but they are extremely expensive as you would expect. However you could easily just put a grease zero in the pin and use a grease gun to do the work for you. The average power grease gun is usually 10,000psi these days. So it would have more than enough power to push out a pin.
I may have to go that route with the original 6.2 from my 82 k5. I tore it apart, and internally, she's good, but the block is missing a chunk where the starter bolts up. That piece had gotten repaired but broke off when I went to replace the starter, so I replaced the original 6.2 from my k5 with a 6.5.
@LEROYDIESEL The old 6.2 has the issue, not the 6.5 I installed in its place. I was going to just have it welded up when I rebuilt it, but I will probably just order that kit when I can
I know one customer did buy this kit for the 5-speed. I'm not sure what all he had to do to make it work though. I think he had a spacer machined to go behind the flywheel again I'm not sure what all was necessary
