So beautiful.. I'm working on a mini version of this lol. Love your outfit too! I'm wondering where you purchased your umbrellas from and are they white or ?
Hi Camille, , great video! I'd like to know how you water an area this large? Do you have an irrigation system? Would love to know the details! I have a postage-stamp sized backyard in Houston and we also lost a lot in the freeze. We replanted with all native plants suited for Zone 8 but watering them is sooooo expensive.
Yes, it is definitely an investment -- and very difficult in the Texas heat we're experiencing right now! We have drip irrigation that runs under the soil and into pots, and then when it's super hot, we also go out and give it extra water with a hose. I go into it a little bit in the second half of the video.
Did you end up buying a small tractor or anything to help you level and move the dirt. Thinking about doing that. I have a similar vision for our small 2.5 acre property on a slight slope.
We actually had to hire a crew to bring the dirt down in wheelbarrows... since this area is down many stairs and located behind our house, there's not a way to access it with a tractor. However, if you're able to get a small tractor to your land, that would definitely be the preferred and more efficient option!
Our friend Cameron is a landscape architect (Campbell Landscape Architecture in Austin). He designed the fire pit and staircases, and my husband Adam designed the rest of the retaining walls, deck, and vegetable garden area.
