makes sense too, i mean what would aliens want with earth if not to live here. there are moons in this solar system that have more water than earth, and all the rare elements hear are surely elsewhere considering they are created in stars. bioweapons or slaves seem like the only reasonable explanation.
*"Guyver Dark Hero"* is one of those semi-low budget straight-to-vhs/rental movies that had VERY TOP NOTCH practical effects, creature costumes, and the most live-action Guyver movie suits there was. Steve Wang - the guy who also originally co-created the first live-action suit from the first movie - went beast mode in making the 2nd movie suit. It was ahead of their time and still stands out to this day.
I guarantee a live action show would be popular on a streaming service today. It must be TV-MA with all of the practical costume effects of the movies, yet with more useful CGI mixed in. The violence, gore, and monster horror should alI be there. With a show, all of the lore and backstory origins can be explored. I would definitely watch it.
@@markbell1089 The translation to live action is never good. It feels or comes off as Power Rangers. You cannot make a live action Rated R Guyver Movie.
I know for me, the release of DC's Blue Beetle made me think of the Guyver. Seeing how Jaime was taken over by the Scarab proves a Guyver reboot is totally possible. I just hope if it happens it remains overly violent.
As much as I’d love a remake or even a new live action movie I think I’d prefer we get a continuation of the mid 2000’s anime. It was brutal and beautiful and most importantly it never got finished, we got a taste of Guyver Gigantic as well as a new status quo in the very last episode and then nothing. It’s a damn shame we never got more than we did!
One of the best anime ever made. I have the 12-part 1989 OVA series, the 26-episode tv series from 2005, and both live actions movie. I also read every fanfiction and crossover I could get my hands on and drew my own guyvers and zoanoids when I was a kid. I even read the wikia entries for every Zoanoid. I wish their was a longer series as Aptom's final evolution and the Guyver Gigantic Exceed are insane. Also spoiler - you actually see Zoalords fight and Finally die in the manga.
I like to refer to Sean Barker as Guyver A (which could either be as in order like Guyver 1 or as A for American). Also in the 2nd Live action film there is a hint that Sho is actually in the same universe as Sean, just in Japan obviously, because when Sean had returned to talk to the Relic Ship before the final fight, Sean asks the ship "Why do you keep calling me, Am I not the one you want?...wait...I'm NOT the one, am I?" This referring to Sho and apparently in tandem when Sho activated the Relic Ship at Mount Minakami and linked with it. It seems that the Ships were resonating or communicating and then at the end Sean had learned to link with the Relic as well and send it back home. In the Manga Agito Makishima got a Relic Ship Control Metal from Arizona to make his Gigantic Armor, the one discovered in Dark Hero was in a dig site in Utah, which means that there might be more buried ships all over the world that have yet to be discovered and with Guyver units. Sad that they never continued with the 3rd movie and maybe make it as the Guyvers all meet. All I know and I hope is that Yoshiki Takaya San better finish his story soon, this has been up since the 80s and he ain't getting any younger...just look at what happened to the Author of Berzerk.
That'd be interesting to see, but there's so many things they'd have to retcon from the original story to fit Sho into the movie universe. If they were to do it without retconning anything, it'd have to involve Sho or Sean traveling another dimension and coming across each other by chance. I think that would be more likely because there's so much that remains unknown about the creators. Perhaps they left the dimension they were originally in to find another for some unknown reason. If they did, why create humans twice on similar planets in different dimensions and perform the same experiment with the Guyver units after realizing humans were free from their control when equipped with one. It could also just be that they had the technology to cross over into other dimensions easily, but never really used it for anything but the Guyver. If so, they existed in both dimensions and never interacted with each other, but absolutely had the power to do so.
@@Lethalshot66 Well they don't have to retcon anything in reality, just add Guyver 1 and 3 to the Movie version to expand the story. In neither the Manga or movieverse would go too far into screwing anything up, it's all a matter of adding a sequence of stories that would include Guyver 1 and 3 into a Guyver A storyand then each continues with their own fights as the Manga progresses. Sort of like an Untold Story type of thing. Yoshiki Takaya was able to include Guyver 2 F from the OVA Out of Control to the main story line with the same name and make her the stepsister of Oswald A. Lisker. I would even make Mizki Segawa from the Movies to be the cousin of Mizuki and Tetsuro Segawa where Sean has to go back and save Mizki with Corie and meet Sho and Co. Being a live action adaptation, the movie version can add stuff like that to be in par with the Manga, granted it is a bit difficult to do in the Manga at these recent issues, but not impossible for Takaya San, all it takes is good writting.
@@BinarySecond You mean the movie? Yeah, I don't see the movies continuing. Though David Hayter (Sean Barker from Guyver 2 out of control) said he'd be interested in making a 3rd Guyver movie to explored Sean as an Older Guyver bearer. I mean, he's got the Hollywood Writing power being writer of some of Hollywood's big production successes. As for the Manga, Yoshiki Takaya would do what he would. And whether he finishes the story or not in the Manga is a matter of time. The authors of both Berserk and High school of the Dead passed away respectively and though on Berserk they are finishing the story, HOTD was stopped. Guyver Manga would be stopped since Takaya San is both the writer and the artist. I wish he'd finish it soon, he's not younger and his Dental Practice also takes time from him, so I do hope he has time enough to finish the story and be done with it.
i'm really sorry to tell you this but actually what he ment was he the human wasn't who the ship wanted it was the Guyver unit inside him that it wanted that's why he then activated the Guyver and then we see the ship connect to the control medal on the Guyver's forehead and it start's to show him the ships records starting from it and others landing on a primordial earth then moving on to the subsequent experiments ending with images of the very first human equipped with a Guyver unit and the destruction it caused and the remaining ships that were still active leaving earth
Some of my favorite live action sci Fi movies from the 80s/90s, was so happy to learn there was an anime. My older brother introduced me to the whole franchise, changed my life.
I love seeing all this love that the Guyver is getting. I only knew a handful of people who knew about the Guyver and its great to see all the appreciation this underrated series is getting
I could nitpick at some of the editing choices and what not but, I'm not going to. I'm just grateful that there are people out there who still remember Guyver and are acknowledging it's existence. This was a nice birthday present as I was born in April. I thank you. Like the Guyver, this was marvelous. P.S. So long as it can be done right and could help spawn new content, I could definitely go for an open world high stakes video game of the Guyver
Been saying this since I was a kid dude needs his own game even some bayonetta styled game would be dope. Been playing exoprimal as zephyr listening to the guyver ost tryna live out that fantasy the last few days so this comment resonates with me hard 💀
I used to read guyver fan manga for the guyver back in the day some of the most immersive writing. One thing about the guyver is people will die. Nobody is going to last forever. The vhs edition was very graphic I remember watching them with my dad. Guyver is top 5
A fun fact I love is that this series is a dark & gritty reboot of the original Kamen Rider Two characters with opposing personalities use powers granted to them via an evil organization to destroy said evil organization
Violence jack literally inspired the gore in hokuto no ken hokuto no ken inspired by dragonball z hokuto no ken came out a yr before dragonball muso tensei literally inspired ultra instinct kenshiro used muso tensi before 1986 it was decades before ultra instinct
@@max.wilson a couple groups used to until the Gigantic Exceed arc I think. Then the translations became "private" and posted on a forum that required you to post proof of you owning the physical volumes to access iirc. It's been on hiatus for seven years or so. The mangaka is still alive, but rumor says he went back to his medical practice after his anonymous assistant passed away. Again, rumor so we don't know the truth. The 32 volumes available are still amazing, and the fact that it's still getting high profile merchandise means the IP isn't dead. I'm holding out hope regardless.
@DanielATG215 saddly, there have been 2 reboots already, not including the live action. The manga needs to finish, and that itself is an "if" in its own.
Do you seriously want them to reboot our beloved movie...in current year? Have you not seen all the dumpster fires they've turned our beloved franchises into?
Annoys me when a new series is started but never finished. I was really hoping the 2005 series would be finished up but it was left pretty much at a cliffhanger.
I think Guyver had also influenced the game Warframe, the similarities are too much to be a coincidence. For those that love games and want to feel like Guyver, you will love Warframe (its also the most free, free to play game out there).
I love to see such a thriving community of people still talking about an anime I feel only I watched via vhs tapes as a kid cuz my dad was a lowkey weeby legend back in the day. Still haven’t met someone who knows what it even is. Loved the reboot and how it kept the story going after EP 12 beast master I think it was called from the OG anime it was dope learning more about murakami, seeing guyot overthrow balcus and his zoalord form and I hate how once again I was left on a cliffhanger never to be answered as guyver gigantic (something I only saw as a kid during googles infancy googling guyver websites in computer class) entered the scene I never knew about the red guyver or guyver 3 turning on guyver 1 either this was such a dope video thanks so much for this if anyone has links to mangas or more lore so I can see what happens next the 5 year old in my now 30 year old body truly appreciates it
Personally Guyver 2 is still my favorite unit! Sure its malfunctioned but it still sports an awesome design! Glad to see its " out of control" She Guyver interpretation become Canon thanks to its clone unit! Man I'm so happy to see so many Marvelous Video giving Guyver some love!❤
Though i wished they actually FIXED the damaged control metal so it we could see more of it, how does it meep getting damaged anyway? Aren't the control medals more durable than that?
@@user-jx3hx Sadly Chronos might not be able to as they still don't fully understand the control metal. 😥 Possibly Balcus( Barcus) or whoever was responsible for cloning the unit 02 type.
@@LowellLucasJr. kind of an annoying cop out when the others are left undamaged what made them so different? All three were blown up and spread far and wide.
If they do come back to this. It must be with practical effects again. Not including when the special weapons are used. The anime already got redone but didn't go very far into the guyver gigantic stuff. If I remember correctly it ends right after he uses it. I think it just wasn't popular enough to finish out. I know there's more from the manga. Does it even finish?

My fav series, I do prefer the 90’s 12 part series over the 2000’s longer series. Yeah it didn’t cover as much but it’s just better to me, more violent and that music is awesome. The dark hero film is great too, for a low budget film they got that bulky look right. I’d love a high budget Hollywood cos now is the time they could do it so well or maybe a tv series
My friends woulod always joke that the reason I liked the series so much was because I was in it due to looking pretty much like Tetsuro Segawa (from the 89 version), or how I missed my shot at getting a guyver unit (in the 2005 version). 🤣 I think I saw the tail end of the 1st Guyver Movie ages ago as I think my dad was watching it at some point long ago when it must have been on TV or something. I didn't know what it was at the time. I saw it on a VHS at the local video rental place near me & was able to rent it & loved it when I saw the intro (not the hyper butchered UK version that is on most DVDs nowadays, but the I assume MANGA video publication company version. It's been a fave series of mine ever since. Mentioned this in another guyver related vid on YT< but I thought about, what if someone made a 2 player Co-Op Arcade Beat em up style game, similar to your Final Fight or Sailor Moon type games. Like, one player could control Guyver 1, the other Guyver 3 and you go through levels just beating up Zoanoids?
Those suits in both movies were top knotch. The Zoinoids did look better in the first movie. They were all slimed up and had better face movement. But the 2nd movie had wayyyy better fight choreography.
Im just here to say big love for the Thunderbolt(Guyver) community With that said is there any community actually, like in discord maybe??Does anybody know??
I watched this too early in life and realized I messed up scarred me a good bit as a child to the point where mentally made a little number to violence but overall good anime
Maybe the Blue Beetle matches most abilities. Want to keep it interesting. It's hard to determine. The bio-upgrades means unlimited stamina, near complete energy efficiency, and up to 100 times the host's max strength potential. Gravity control means he hits like a freight train on top of that and can create mini black holes. Top running speed of 300 mph only because any faster means jumping. Near 360 degree detection in multiple spectrums. Armor can take some huge damage unless you are Enzyme. Maybe a team to handle him.
Six??? I counted at least 10 Bio Boosted Armors in all the Guyver media: 1. Guyver I (Sho) 2. Guyver II (Lisker) 3. Guyver III (Agito) 4. Guyver 0 5. Guyver-Zoanoid (Crane) 6. Guyver Gigantic (Sho) 7. Guyver Gigantic Dark (Agito) 8. Guyver IIF (Valkyria) 9. Appolyon 10. Guyver-Aptom Fusion
Man a live action remake that is rated r and gory as hell would be so so so sick. They definately need to work on the dialogue though and not have any of the really bad dialogue from the ova.
The anime that got me into anime. I was a kid and I saw the first live action movie, went to school and told my friends about it and one of them had seen the box called guyver at blockbuster. That was it for me.
