Very nice man! This is my favorite generation of the Celica. I remember seeing a very clean red Celica GT manual, just like this model on Ebay Motors about 2 years ago and it only had 26K miles, and was only going for like $21K. It was out of state, but I kept returning to the ad because it was so clean and looked well taken care of. It only had one owner, no accidents, and was a west-coast car. The car sold like 2 days later. Ugh!
Greetings from Australia, loving the videos mate, alot of your stuff will be very helpful to me when I move into my new place and actually have room to completely dismantle my 1992 Toyota Celica and get her looking good again even if yours is a 6 gen alot of the engine videos will come in handy. Thanks in advance for when I actually start the project
Bro I’m seriously inspired just got a 94 GT that needs alot of love. If only I knew a lick of what you knew. My dream would be to do an engine swap but that’s seems so beyond me 😭 your celica looks amazing!
I have a 1998 Toyota Celica GT Convertible with the 2.2L 5SFE. Im still trying to upgrade it to this day but parts rare and super expensive. Great Celica you got, Im jealous lol
@CharlieXiong Have you replaced the speakers in a 6th generation Celica? I'm looking to upgrade the audio system in my 1998 convertible and can't find a replacement for the 4" midrange driver near the top of the door panel. I've found suitable replacements for the tweeters and lower door speakers. I want to keep the car looking as stock as possible.
@CharlieXiong wow brother this looks amazing, I want to do something like this to my ‘95. My son is 12 so I have a few years to pass it on to him before I can build it. How much Am I looking forward to spend approximately. I’ve had mine for a few years now
Hi, it really depends on what platform you are planning to build your celica. If you just want to make it look stock as possible, maybe sourcing out parts from part car or local junkyard if your celica is missing parts. If you're planning to get some power plus Celica st205 parts. It definitely will be expensive depends on where you buy the parts from. I collected my parts as far as 2015 so I were able to get the parts for less compare to now. Good luck with build.
I love the whole process man! I was thinking of buying this '97 Celica that's been abandoned for 4 years already. I would say it's in pretty rough shape but I think it's fixable though. Should I get it? The price is around 1.2 grand.
Hi, I would try to ask for a lower price if it’s negotiable and make sure the car has a good foundation to work with like no major rusts nor body damage
Good job! My thoughts "Damn, is he gonna keep the top mont intercooler?" few photos later "Good choice with FMIC". I have very similar build '97 GT, also the caldina swap with FWD. I still have not done the hood and front bumper, price is just too much these days. Did you keep the S54 transmission, has it held up well for you?
This is dope, I’m also planning to do the same. I have a 98 celica gt and want to slap together a 5sgte with the awd. But I have a long ways till I get there. Are you planning to do anything else with yours ? And how much power are you currently making ?
Hi, there are more things like like to do little by little. Next is to get a boost controller, maybe headers and bigger turbo, injectors before getting it tune and dyno. Right now hp is probably at stock 255-260.
Hey what suspension did you install in your car? Also what tools did you use? I just got a 99 Celica and i’m pretty excited to start modifying it. Also do you know any good short throw shifters and steering wheel for the car? -Thanks
I bought the gt4 parts more than 5 years ago. Now It’s rare to come by plus when you do find the parts, it’s pricy. Look for stock and tuning on fb. The seller sells gt4 parts. Others can be found on eBay, gt4 play, celica tuning.
Just wanted to ask how did installing the TRD wing work with the OEM spoiler being three spoke? trying to find a high rise spoiler for my 6gen but concerned about fitment and holes.
Hi, to bolt on the trd spoiler. It requires the 94-95 trunk. 96-99 trunk will require drilling an extra hole on each side. Measure carefully before drilling, good luck.
Hi, the 3sgte dropped right in. You can reused the 5sfe motor mounts if it's still good or upgrade if you like. You will need the 5sfe and 3sgte harness to convert into a one plug and plug harness from Wire Gap. You will also need a hybrid clutch from PrimeDriven to make it work with the S54 tranny and axles or upgrade to the E153 Tranny and axles. Other cost are common maintenance or gasket overhaul but lowest cost to make it work will run you roughly $5k-$6k depends on parts.
Hi, the swap was very straightforward. Only thing to look out for is the harness. To save the headache, have wire gap convert the harness to a plug n play for you.
Hello i have a 95 celica with a gt4 bumper, bonnet and spoiler, however the engine is the 115hp 2.0 non turbo and it is blown, so need a new engine anyway, does anyone know will the gt4 engine be an easy swap in and what gearbox to pair it with as mine i plan to keep fwd? The reason why i decided not to just buy a gt4 is the current price and because i already have a celica shell that needs and engine anyway, any help would be appreciated
7afe? that’s the 115hp engine, it’s a 1.8l tho. if you have the 2.0l you’re closer to 170hp. with the 7afe you need a different fwd transmission, the s54 from the gt or the e153 from a v6 camry/solara or a modified mr2 one. if you get one of those, you’ll just need to order a clutch kit (southbend is the goto place, tell them what engine and transmission and they’ll send you the right kit) and then you’ll need 2.2/2.0 motor mounts, the ones from the 1.8 7afe are different. apart from that, you just need wiring, which can be done yourself although most people choose to send off their harnesses and receive a plug and play one
@@vibrantsy thankyou so much this is extremely helpful, the car is currently in a garage being stored and hasnt been looked at for a while, so i will confirm the details myself, that was just what the previous owner had told me, so if i understood correctly, if its is the 2.0 engine the gt4 engine is a streight swap as the gearbox and engine mounts should line up, however if it is the 1.8, ill need new engine mounts and a gearbox from one of the cars mentioned in your comment, and wiring and ecu is ofc different for both but that should be fine, i also have another quick question, in the uk there seems to be 2 variants of the N/A 2.0 engines, 140bhp and 170bhp but in terms of engine swap to the gt4, they are the same right? In terms of motor mounts and gearbox? Thankyou for the help i really apprecate it
@@raiszaman515 i’m not sure. there is the celica ST that has the 7afe 1.8l(116hp), and the US spec celica GT that has the 2.2l 5sfe (that makes around 140hp, but i don’t think this engine comes in the uk) and then the 2.0l 3sge (170hp) which is the GT celica engine everywhere but the US. if you have a GT, i.e. the 2.0 or 2.2, then you will already have mounts and a proper manual transmission.
@@raiszaman515 FYI: If you go with e153 transmission then you will also need axels. I kept the S54 so far works just fine and if it ever breaks then its a lot cheaper to replace than an e153. If you can go for the gen4 3sgte from a caldina(never offered in a gt4, they only had until gen3). It gives you COP setup from the go and higher boost stock. If you want crazy power then swap the rods and pistons before you swap it. I have kept mine stock and very happy with it.
Hi, yes it can be done to an auto. The 3sgte comes in auto with an auto ECU. I'm just not sure if where to source out aftermarket parts to support an auto transmission in the US.
Parts were found years ago before 2020. Back then parts were cheaper. Back then I found a mint gt4 bumper for $300 but didn’t buy because it’s 3+ hours drive away. Regret til this day l🥲
It's just Tanabe springs for the 6th gen celica I bought from Ebay but now I think it's discontinued. I personally think Tein S tech lowering springs is much better
Nice I like wat u doing to urs im planning to do wat u doing with mind too...is it plug and play with the 3sgte anything I should know about..and urs still a front wheel drive right?
@@cheenouyang2945 Yes still front wheel drive but very fun and have plenty of power. The swap is very straight forward. Engine mounts is the same. The only thing that needs to be work on is the harness. Send the 5sfe and 3sgte harness to WireGap to convert into one plug and play harness. New fuel pump to be compatible with the 3sgte. Other than that, you can very much used a lot of the parts from your 5sfe engine such as tranny, axles, vacuum hoses, fuel lines, power steering pump, etc..If you have been following my videos, there are many things in the content that very much give you enough information to do the swap. Anything you're unclear of, feel fee to reach out to me.
