Christina Aguilera, Demi Lovato, Leona Lewis, Kelly Clarkson and Miley Cyrus... Famous Singers Then and Now Comparison, dodging struggling to high notes and expectations compilation Everything About Fail or Epic Moment
As a performer myself, we easily tend to get tired singing the same version for years that we sing it differently over the years. But that doesn't make these celebrity singers any less great. They're just giving it a different vibe. They're still rockin it. From a singer's POV.
I think it also depends on how much you perform. if it's one song you can actually put all your energy in it, but if it's a concert, it's wise to spread it evenly so that you still have voice at later songs
Kelly has also admitted to mixing up some of her old songs cuz yeah she's kind of sick of singing them. But she most certainly still has it, in fact I would think her range has actually expanded. Didn't know this but the only time she sang A moment like This was on idol and then three other times and she's never sung it again she loathes that song. Even during her karaoke she nailed some really high notes. But listen to her album the meaning of life and pay attention in the background where she goes whistle tone in about four of the songs.
@@ilaydaylmaz5601 there are so many factors that can go into a person's voice's changing. In the cases of people like Mariah and Axl Rose they burn themselves out their voices are destroyed. Martina McBride is one of the crushing ones for me. Her voice has always been absolutely incredible. In fact some of the best country music came out of her. However she sang through a tour with bronchitis the whole time. She didn't even have a speaking voice she's worked on getting that back but she will never be able to sing the same again. Mariah also just destroyed what was left of her voice, people keep arguing with me but that Christmas performance a couple years ago that wasn't a mistake. The Christmas special with her I think it was Ariana grande and Jennifer Hudson and Kelly Clarkson where they all went into whistle tone was pre-recorded or they just cut her mic. Because she does not have that note like the other three do.
The third time Kelly sang “since you’ve been gone”, she was very pregnant. I’m sure she had a hard time breathing, and couldn’t make those high notes at that time.
@GachaTayla why the fuck are you getting offended? The person who made this wasn't saying their bad singers. Okay. They literally just said that their pitch changed. so keep your fucking hate and hurtful comments off the internet god damn

I love that Kelly says she didn't know if that was going to come out. She admits that even to her some vocals are challenging (which makes me feel okay with not being able to do all the vocals I wish I could), but also, she is taking the risk of messing up, which again shows she was ready to forgive herself for messing up and that people don't need to feel bad about themselves for not being able to do all the vocals they wish they could. I don't have her skills, but what she says makes me feel good about the skills I do have.
I am a classically trained soprano who has sung professionally for 20 years. I do vocal warmups and exercises regularly. But I’m much older than I used to be. It’s just harder now. I used to hit all this stuff without a warmup. Now I’m in the necessary warmup phase. That’s why these QUEENS who come out and slay it in their older years are the true talents. After all of the hormone changes women go thru, all of the pregnancies and body changes. Those women come out and slay. Those are the ones who deserve accolades. They stand the test of time and still come out and put it down for us.
I also appreciate this comment!! I’m a singer too and I beat myself up for not being able to hit the same notes I could as a younger person. You’ve made me feel so much better. Singing is something that makes me happy, so I’ll keep on doing it even if my voice has changed :)
Great comment. Same for men. Depends somewhat on genetics and somewhat on the style of vocals they sing. Rock/metal/operatic singers usually experience the most fragile voices or dramatic damage to vocal cords as they age. But good technique counts for a lot. Self-care. And how long you've been singing. Some people don't even realize they're talented until they're older like you mention! Or they didn't have money or resources or role models to develop a voice. We take these singers for granted too.
Let's face it, getting old sucks, perhaps the greatest vocalist touring presently is Lzzy Hale, night after night, slaying it vocally, she's been doing it at a high level for two decades, getting better, getting stronger...diet, cigarettes, alcohol, drugs, stress, skipping daily vocal exercises, etc. Once they make it, most don't care, in his prime, no one could hit the octaves Axl Rose could, saw him last year at Fenway Park, it's just sad...and pathetic to see these geriatric fossil dinosaurs hanging on for the $$$
I actually think Demi's voice has gotten better over the years. It's stronger, fuller, and somehow even more emotional. Her recent rock releases and remakes have blown me away.
JayJay Forever Celine's been lip syncing since prime. Celine can still reach the notes but it's always been extremely heady above Eb5 85-90 percent head voice and is sometimes strained, always nasal, most of the times unsupported
People forget that pregnancy affects people's voices too. Kelly had 3(?) kids, and she has said in interviews it really affected her voice. As did Christina. It affects your breathing, and vocal chords. Kelly has said she can no longer reach certain high notes since having each of her children.
@@TrollextheTroll That's a perfectly valid excuse. My mom is a singer and her voice was affected after she had me and my 2 siblings. People's voices change due to pregnancies, and just age overall.
Demi’s songs are so so SO hard to sing, I’m not surprised if she goes flat cause it’s so high, and the climax of the song, so she has to sing it with so much power, must be tough
@@brianaguilar8283 you roll your eyes now but yet you’ll bawl your eyes out and act like a Karen whenever someone misgenders you. It’s not hard to respect someone’s pronouns. 😐 Nobody is gonna disrespect you, so don’t respect them.
As a singer, I’m actually loving videos like this because it shows that even the world’s greatest pop singers aren’t perfect, and yet most people don’t notice their mistakes.
Its great to see that everyone in the comments are understanding of the artists' vocal maturity. Like.. singing a vocally demanding song for some years or more than 10 years will really put a strain in your voice and thats understandable and normal. Vocalists and singers are no different from athletes after all. Vocal Cords are a muscle and they have their wear and tear too. I just hate how everyone is indifferent when it comes to Mariah Carey who has sung her hits (and still does) for almost 30 years. Most of her songs are even harder than some of the songs shown here. Why cant everyone give her some slack? Her WHOLE discography is VOCALLY Demanding and i just hate that most people dont have the ame attitude everyone now has in this comment box towards her. I just wish everyone is as kind as you all are. 🥺
Some of these singers probably just got bored of singing the same song for 5+ years and changed the performance a little, they are all amazing vocalists. Great observations though
Emma Lauren I was thinking the same thing. Who wants to hear or sing it the same way. The one is 11 years later. And you don't know if their throat hurts, they were tired or just wanted to change it up.
I've literally seen bands that HATE HATE HATE their most popular songs. Playing the same shit over and over for ten+ years would make you hate it, too.
Okay I’ve seen Demi & Miley live and they are both incredible singers. Every performance will have factors that effect it. All love for these talented people ❤️
I wish people understood what it takes to sing like these girls do. It’s amazing, but exhausting. They have pure talent, and will always be able to sing beautifully.
I'm an armature singer and ill tell ya, some days your voice just flows and WANTS to sing but other days, no mater how much you try, it just isn't there. And voices get worn out and tired too. So I see this video as real and encouraging that no one is perfect and we all have good and not so good singing moments ❤
Speaking as a singer myself, its often the case that you may have to preserve your voice an not push it if you've a lot of performances to do, its called (holding back), then there's, Lack of sleep, Travel, Jet Lag, Cold, Flu, Acid Reflux, Asthma or having an off day and any number of medical conditions that can effect your vocal, along with the fact some voices get deeper as they get older, We are just human like everyone else, we have bad days too and your voice can even change from day to day. Unlike the other muscles in your body your vocal cords get weaker not stronger if over worked.
@@oni_senpai_879 lol that's cuz it was flat... the "don't" at 4:33 was flat. just compare it to the original. i mean it's just one small flaw so it really doesn't matter and nobody cares cuz she's so talented vocally. tbh all the artists in the video are really talented and have more than proven they can sing live so even if they mess up or lip sync i don't really care
what nobody mentions is that after singing for a while in succession (especially if it's a bunch of high note songs) your voice loses some range it gets "tired" in other words, it's normal for a singer to screech some songs at the end of his/her concert when the voice is tired.
Huh? Did you hear all the opera singers? G5 is not a really high note (especially not in classical music). Sopranos can go an octave higher than that. They also have some concerts a week and do that for some decades. With the right technique you will not destroy your voice by singing a G5 every day 😉
I'm a professional singer. At 43 years old, hysterectomy gave me hormonal changes and aging. My voice is changing too. I just sing low and raspy. These women are musical icons. ❤
I love it when I hear the honest beautiful imperfections in real singers voices when they perform from the heart. It is what makes live performances so wonderful. Simply amazing! If I want to listen to perfectly executed notes every time, I can to the recording.
I feel like the person that made this video doesnt realize that singers are human, they get sick, they get tired, etc. Sometimes they shorten it because they didn't get a good enough breath, or they are getting over a cold, or they got a bit winded for a second. Just because ten years later it was short in one performance doesnt mean she cant hit it anymore.
What a unique video! Singers are humans, too, and aren't immune to aging - just like the rest of us. The vocals they reach definitely take a toll on their voices after performing them endless times. But, they can still pull them off in creative, alternative ways later on. Thanks for making this compilation!
This is not fair. Nobody is the same healthy in every single concert. They are sometimes more tired, probably had a concert almost every day for weeks and got a cold, nobody knows. They also sometimes want to do thing differently to don't bore the people with exact replications of the recording version. Maybe they all still can kill all these notes today.
@@ytubeanon and performers dont always perform the same way each time and they have days where they don't do good(????) Like we're only human. Make it make sense buddy. If you ain't in the entertainment business or dont know anything about it, stfu
ytubeanon maybe they just simply don’t *want* to sing it the same way every time???? imagine how many times they have to sing that song obviously they will want to switch it up. what’s not clicking?
Just sounds more Controlled and less showy off. They no longer need to prove their vocals in the later concerts we know they can sing by this point so it's just more relaxed
That’s crazy this is the second comment I read saying their and I’m like wtf you only mentioned one person then I remembered the world we live in 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
It's heartbreaking when your voice can no longer hit the notes you always sung so easy... And that's from someone that never gave a single performance. Don't ever let a cruel boyfriend stop you singing. That's your joy... Don't silence it for nobody. Can't imagine what these women feel knowing it's their livelihood and what they're known for. Remember there's always a person behind the act.
Nayvio Campbell That may be so but not everyone is a rock singer. I never said I wasn't impressed by rock singers. Just like you said "maybe not as high".
My mom’s a singer and I’ve also been a singer. As a high schooler I was a first soprano and definitely couldn’t do the low notes. Now that I’m older I’m more a second soprano and I can even get lower than when I was in high school. Our voices change as we get older. And sometimes notes are cut shorter or changed because we’re either sick, or we’re trying to preserve our voices. These women in this video kill it every damn time no matter how they change the song.
Aguilera knows how to use a mic almost better than any singer I’ve seen. She basically mixes herself. Aside from that singing is really hard to do consistently for years on end as you and your vocal chords age. Especially when singing on tour for weeks, maybe months at a time.
said the same thing. Her mic technique is like a compressor/limiter/eq all in one. Like she actually practiced mic placement. Something every live performer should do as and hardly any do.
I’m not a Demi fan but how the hell do you call that flat? She wasn’t tryna hit a high note that time. She hit it rough so it sounded more powerful since it’s meant to sound like a more powerful note.
Yeah, I'll admit Demi is flat about 50% of the time that she hits those high note, but that other half that people call "flat" is actually her voice just getting a little rough. If she could just work on keeping a clear tone in the higher register, people wouldn't think she was that bad. Not that she's a bad singer, she has the range, but her high register needs better sound.
See Kelly Clarkson is a mother of 3 and she's somewhere around 40 but she can still sing, like damn Edit: how the hell did I get 640 likes I barely ever get 6?! I love chu guys
Yeah. One's age and number of children they've given birth to have got do little to disrupt raw talent. I could see it affecting, perhaps, elasticity of the nether regions, but luckily, our vocal cords don't keep track of the number of diapers we've changed. ;) Case in point I guess.
@@a.m.m6145 Also, aging can affect the voice. People's regular speaking voices change as they age from 25 to 40. A singing voice also changes based on how old someone is because of the amount of singing they have done.
@@ahashi1924 Actually, what happens is that you lose some of the elasticity in the vocal chords, just as you do in your muscles and joints, and that loss affects the voice. That loss costs you in your range, and not just at the top. It can cost you a few notes on the bottom as well. :)
I love your really positive spin on this. I thought you might just be ripping into them. But you make great points. Some of these things shred their vocal cords. Maybe it was worth it when they were new, and just trying to make a name for themselves. But once they'd made it, they need to preserve themselves for longevity. I really do hate lip syncing though, personally. If your voice is dying that much then I'd rather they just do less shows, as opposed to doing shows but lip syncing through them. Also the 'dodges' are okay for me as I love hearing alternative renditions of their songs.
This really made me feel so much better as a singer when I was young, bc it reminds me that it never has to always be perfect! It helped my confidence so much and now I sing so much better and don’t care if my voice cracks sometimes!
If you think this is a bash video, it's not. They all can hit the exact notes if they wanted too, but when you sing the same song for over 4 years you do stuff different, and that's fine.
Thank you for pointing this fact out. I use to be able to sing all four octaves and I was 1st Soprano; but as I aged my voice has dropped and although I have dropped drop to a 2nd Sop down to a G4. There vocal exercises you can do to pull that range up again. It doesn’t mean that you can’t sing anymore… it just means you’ve gotten older.
It’s tough! I grew up singing, my range is insane at times but it is super inconsistent. That inconsistency can make anyone feel insecure to even try for real! I grew up on Mariah’s music since she first debuted, by far one of the most impressive voices EVER! But vocal health is a real thing!
Leona blew me away immensely!! She used to be as good as Christina Aguilera but age really does take a toll on vocalists. The voice was not intended to be used that way. It was just for speaking.
Kiiana mxmb Kelly can still sing high like when she did at 18. She just doesn’t everytime. It will mess up their vocal chords and it’s hard af to sing right when your vocals are messed up.
I really believe miley improved in more calm songs wich is way better bcz low notes are underestimated and way harder than high notes that can be mistaken for shouts
this title is so confusing. “they can’t/don’t sing anymore” but nailed it either way????? it doesn’t have to be on a high note everytime they’re singing this live. sometimes it is the artist’s technique not to sing it originally.
The reasoning behind Kelly's decline is her pregnancies. She has two horrible ones within a few years of each other and all the sickness and vomit deteriorated her voice. However, she is slowly getting back to where she was.
Agust-D ft genius Suga jjang jjang man boom boom Do you not understand that pregnancies vary for different people? Beyonce was fine. Kelly was vomiting right before shows. Do you know what that acid does to your voice? Did you even read what I said or are all Beyonce stans illiterate.
High Notes Are My Drug I don't stan Beyonce, but she has a bad technique and that's why she can't sing anymore. No breath support and strained even before the pregnancy.
Agust-D ft genius Suga jjang jjang man boom boom If you actually think that you either don't know what technique is or you're not familiar with her at all. Please, explain to me what was wrong with her technique.
High Notes Are My Drug the thing about her technique is that it's not a technique she does have bad habbits, she doesn't have diction and her breath support is underdeveloped so when she tries to sing higher or more powerful, she strains a lot by rubbing the vocal chords together. Like Demi Lovato or Miley Cyrus, actually all this singers here shown have almost the same bad habbits.
Keep in mind that the high notes you hear on the radio have a lot of auto tune with them. That’s why its really hard to do those insane notes live, so the fact that they do them at all shows their real talent. Just because they dodge a high note years later doesn’t mean they cant do it. They just don’t want to do it for reasons us fans might not know. Also, personally, I feel Miley and Demi have really grown as artists. They’ve gotten so good.
Weerty01 Nope. Just watch Miley belt continuous high notes in her performance of I'll Take Care of You. She's fantastic with all notes when she wants to
I legit love how the commentary or the subtitles and stuff are so nice and sweet in the vid- if it was someone else, they'd be like "Wtf is she doing?" "Oh she dodged it, can't do shit anymore" or whatever, especially when they write "????"
The Audio sounds tampered with and echoey too, on all the recent 'fail' songs also. Like the author was messing with autotune. To court likes and views. You cant really hear the artist properly.
Demi's voice is actually so much stronger now and she can easily hit those notes. Those runs in the beginning were actually kinda bad. She is so much better now. She shouldn't be on this list at all actually lol
