Does anybody have an idea why many cross cut jigs add a miter to do 90 degree cuts? Isn't the back of the jig sufficient to do 90 degree cuts? What are ALL the uses of the additional miter?

It's best to do a web search or check amazon. There is an attachment that can be mounted onto a circular saw arbor next to the saw blade that turns on when you start the saw. It them displays a laser that shows the exact line of cut the blade will travel. Newer saws may actually have them attached. I have a sliding miter saw that came with one built in from Harbor Freight
